Great atmosphere, fun bartender and what we wanted for food- try the red beans and rice! We’d stop there again
Probably one if the worst meals and service ever. Even the Host was rude and clearly wished he had another job. My daughter’s pasta had something in it that got stuck in her throat. After many tears and digging- she pulled out what appeared to be a piece of wood. We will never go here again.
Nulla di speciale
Great dinner spot!!
The hostess ignored us who were waiting to be seated. Several empty tables and seats. One couple were seated 30 minutes after their reservation. When she did speak to any of us she never inquired about reservations she took first come. The bartender finally approached us and another couple and took us to the bar and put us there. Once there the service and food was very good. If they were short staffed communication would have been appreciated. It was the worst, most frustrating experience I’ve had .
Devi’s was such a kind and attentive server. The food was excellent and we’ll definitely be back!
Oysters were delicious
Amazing. This is definitely one of our favorite spots in New Orleans. The food is second to none! Charbroiled Oysters, Shrimp and Grits, amazing cocktails...you name it! Tried the blackened fish po-boy this last time, ant the fish was seasoned in every bite!
Food was perfect. We had the chargrilled oysters and the gumbo. My phone was dead from being on tours all day and the hostess gladly offered to let me use hers while we ate. The service was amazing!
Thank you for your review!
Amazing service, food was perfect. The char grilled oysters are 10/10.
Oysters were very good but the rest of food lacked flavor. Presentation was well done and the food came out quickly. Was looking for a little more spice - not hot, to keep things interesting.
Food was very poor! I would not recommend ! Food tasted sour and servers weren’t well educated on the menu
Good food and wonderful service. Just sad they were out of their bread pudding.
Desire Oyster bar was consistent with the past with great food and great service!
We made reservations ahead of time but when we arrived on time we were turned away by the host because they were full and they wouldn't have a table for us for 20-30 minutes. We ended up eating elsewhere.
Amazing oysters. Great service!
Thank you for your kind review!
Food was good but service was pretty difficult
We ordered and parts of our food came out
Then others were brought at the end (oysters)
The waitress never came back and we finally had to get up to ask for our bill after a significant amount of time and the place was empty
Food was great
A favorite stop when visiting NO. This time through the service was sketchy at best and the open table res did not/then did show up in their system. But, oysters and food were quite good, so we'll look forward to visiting again!
Decent food, great service, conveniently located. Would try again
Very disappointed. We ordered the oysters on 1/2 shell which were all right. We also ordered the fried oysters as the main entree. Terrible. moist, not crispy. Sauce was just ok.....barely. Overall place was messy, looked more like a cafe or "to-go" ambience. Made reservations, and they didn't have them thru Open Table and they said that website was not reliable for reservations even though Open Table confirms your table....?? Would absolutely NOT ever recommend this place. Out of all the great places to eat in NO, this was a great disappointment.
Another great meal at Desire. Delicious crab cakes and heavenly fried oysters. We never miss this stop in New Orleans.
The people the food in the atmosphere are fantastic never had better oysters anywhere.
In four and a half days in New Orleans, this was the most disappointing and most expensive meal my husband and I had. The service was poor and the food was not good.
Hostess was rather brusque given that we had a reservation. Server was pleasant, but clearly overwhelmed by the amount of people. The food is fine but not a good value given the cost. Incredibly noisy with echoing acoustics people yelling and screaming. Just not really how I remember this place from before.
We've eaten here many times in the past, and on this visit to New Orleans Desire was the only place that we ate at that, in my opinion, was up to pre-COVID levels of quality and service. Over the weekend we ate at other restaurants, and many just were not up to par anymore, Desire was really good as it always is.
Good service and food............................
The reservation is. It a reservation. It’s just putting your name on the wait list
Nothing inspiring. Gumbo was pretty good. Oysters were drowning in butter; nothing else to taste but butter and garlic. Crab cakes were fine. Service was friendly but slow and my wine never even showed up except on the bill (which they took off of course but didn’t apologize that it never was served). Overall disappointing.
Excellent in all respects!
The food was terrible, our waiter was not accommodating... Ebony the hostess was the best part of the experience
The oysters are fantastic. Both the oysters on the half shell and the char grilled oysters - So good!! The other food was good, but wouldn't really be a driving factor to get us to come back. Those oysters though..... we went one day, loved them so much that we came back the next day just for those.
I think restaurant was overwhelmed with number of people wanting to eat on a Monday. We had a reservation but many people were trying to sneak through the back door and grab a seat. We’ve eaten there before so looked forward to the food. It was not the same as in the past. Grilled oysters were way over cooked,’and seafood over breaded and salty. Our server was nice but had to cover too many tables (not his fault). We were not impressed, but hoping it was just this one night.
Seated quickly friendly and service was very good.
Disappointed. Always wanted to eat here and not impressed. Reserved a hightop and seated elsewhere. Food was not that great. Server was less than great seemed short handed for the capacity limits. Will not return.
We sat for one hour before we received our drinks. The oysters were okay. Servers were rude. And half of order didn’t come. It was awful.
The oysters were large and tasty but were room temp. Service was extremely slow with only 2 waitstaff working the floor. Drinks took about 30 mins. Took about 45 to get the oysters.
Funny thing...when we finished the last oyster, the check immediately came and our payment collected to clear the table. Tabbing out was crazy fast...too bad the rest of the experience was oddly so slow.
Too much going on outside the restaurant and the doors were open so all that noise came in. It’s my own fault for not realizing it was on bourbon street when I booked. That’s just not a good thing in our opinion, too much chaos. The food was good tho.
