Restaurant was crowded, noisy and the service was poor. The food was marginally good but came to the table room temp. I know the waiter was doing his best but some where the staffing was not sufficient to make the meal, service and event enjoyable.

It was our second dining experience there. I ordered same entree as I did last August. Rib Eye Steak on the bone. Medium rare. It was slightly overcooked but the quality of meat was poor. Very chewy. I had three bites, spit the third out and discontinued eating the entree. When waiter came to the table, I asked him to take it away, it was too tough. Had dessert - very good, and asked for the check. I had expected that the $50 charge would have been removed. It was not. We paid the bill and tipped generously. Upon going to the bar for an after dinner drink, I informed the manager. He was kind enough not to charge us for the drink. We spent a good amount of money there over the weekend, enjoying the facilities, spa included. We like your resort, but....... Sincerely, Kevin & Fiona Kiernan

The food was fine - not amazing, but good. The filet minon was tasty and properly cooked, and the diver scallops with linguini were fresh and flavorful. But it’s a bit overpriced for what you get. The problem was the service, which was friendly but extremely slow - the restaurant was packed and they apologized that the kitchen just couldn’t keep up with the volume of orders. It was over 90 minutes from the time we sat down until we eventually got our entrees. If you’re staying at the Saddlebrook Resort, Dempsey’s might be worth a try, especially on a slow night when the kitchen can presumably keep up. But I wouldn’t recommend that Tampa residents drive out of their way for this place.

This is probably the worst experience we have had at a restaurant. We had reservations at 8:30 PM and were seated immediately. We did not get our food until 10:30 PM! Finally at 10 PM our waitress offered to bring us bread to hold us over. Bread that is normally served immediately at every other restaurant we go to but was finally offered 1.5 hours later. Then when we finally did get our food the grilled pork chop I had ordered was raw inside and had to be sent back. Of course when it came back it was so tough that I could not even eat it. So I paid $30 for one pork chop (with no sides) that I could not even eat. And after all of this horrible experience there was no offer for any type of discount or even a free dessert or coffee. Poor quality with high prices is unacceptable. The only saving factor for the entire night was the sweet waitress we had that kept apologizing. But still we will never come back to this restaurant.

I always read reviews before I go to a restaurant realizing you can't please all the people all the time. I chose Dempsey's based on their menu and a few of the reviews although most of the reviews were mixed. This was New Year's Eve and our anniversary. Our reservation was at 8. Their wine list was extensive. I chose a moderately priced red Zinfandel($60). When the waiter had trouble removing the cork and it crumbled I should have stopped him there. They serve the wine and it was awful. I asked for replacement of a similar priced Cabernet. They were out of it. I then chose a house wine for about $45. It wasn't what I wanted but it being a house wine I was reasonably sure it was available and would be palatable. We ordered our dinner at approximately 8:20. We received our dinner at 9:30. I will say the steaks were good and cook has ordered. To the credit of the restaurant we were not charged for the wine. I'm not sure if it was an oversight or they had intended to do so. Overall the food was good, the price was high, and the wine list overpriced. The service was unacceptable.

Food was exceptional. About froze to death; didn’t realize we needed to wear a parka. The place wasn’t very busy but wait staff rarely showed up; sat for probably 30 minutes without water. The fact you must pay cash to park is totally absurd!!!

I have lived in this area for 35 years. Over the years I have been to Dempseys for dinner probably 6 or 7 times. This will be the last. There is nothing left of the upscale New York style steak house that it once was. Dirty old carpets and furniture that is dying to be replaced and lighting that is so bright it shows every detail of a restaurant in dire need of a makeover. My menu was dirty and stained as was the wine list. We ordered the Caesar salad which was inedible. The sea bass was ok but for $37 you want more than ok. This used to be a great place to celebrate a special occasion or have a special date night. Sad, what happened?!
