The full-service, fine dining restaurant and bar facility features American French-Creole inspired cuisine. There are multiple dining rooms, a large outdoor patio for gatherings. Each room is themed after important moments in the Delta Queen Steamboat's history. The venue is perfect for small or large groups.
Before or after your dining experience, take time to stroll through quaint Kimmswick and enjoy all this historic town has to offer.
What a great atmosphere and the food was wonderful. The prime rib was excellent! The quantity of food was more than I could eat. Service was great and we loved the ghost stories! We will be back soon!
If you’re looking for a quiet, quaint and unique restaurant with excellent food. This is the place.
My adult granddaughters and I went for lunch. After waiting almost 30 min for our food, the food itself was terrible. I had a beef brisket sandwich. The brisket was so tough and dry that I couldn’t eat it. The fish ( and chips) that my grandddaughter ordered was about 4 inches long and it was fried so dark and it was hard. She could barely eat it. My other granddaughter ordered the turkey club so not much they could do to ruin that.
My granddaughter asked me not to say anything about the food because she would be enbarrassed.
Needless to say, we were very disappointed and will not return.
The house itself is beautiful! Our waiter told us the history about it and it was very interesting.
Had breakfast with my mom aunt and husband. Food was delicious and presentation awesome. Mike our sever was friendly attentive and informative. Great to come back to a well known loved restaurant. Will definitely return and highly recommend to all😊
Well...this was a former favorite place years ago when it was called "old house". Service was very good, atmosphere was cozy and rustic. The food was quite good. Was nice to meet the chef. Will be going back again that is certain.
From arrival to departure it was 2 hour meal. It was a fixed menu which usually provides a quick turnaround. They ran out of French silk pie and did not have the Moscato wine in stock that was on the menu. Shrimp cocktail - good, onion soup - okay, prime rib - great but 1/4 was fat., gouda potatoes - great, pie - okay. Restaurant was not full but poor waiter had our room with 5 tables and he said he had to keep going to the 2nd floor for the orders.
We'll give breakfast a try to see if the service is quicker.
The staff was extremely nice but the visit did not go very well. Two from our party of four had steaks not cooked correctly, for example the well done should not be pink with blood. The special for the night included Champagne that we never received . Furthermore, although it was an honest mistake we had been originally over charged by roughly $50, luckily we caught that and it was corrected. Once again the staff was very cordial but we will pass on returning.
Mike, our server, makes the dinning experience that much more enjoyable!
We went for breakfast a few weeks before and loved it. We decided to come back for their Valentine dinner and bring friends. It was wonderful and everyone had a great time.
Food was outstanding. The only problem was we went on a very cold evening and 200 year old structures are not insulated, so it was cold inside. Other than that, it was a great experience. The chef personally came out to see if our meal was good.
Thought it was just a little too dim lighting. It took a little too long to get food and the chicken and waffle was soggy and needs revised. We were not terribly unhappy with our visit but expect a little more for that price. Great location and not out of the question that we would return but feel some things could be improved. Love the building
A Birthday dinner celebration. Mike is a fantastic waiter!
Had an amazing time! Everything was awesome!
Honestly the best pork chop I have ever had! Call ahead for a reservation because they fill quickly
Enjoyed a great dinner with friends. Room was a little crowded
A nice restaurant in a very old historic log building... which means it can get really cold, which it was.
We had one minor and one major disappointment:
1. Minor: Was told green beans were a side option, but they weren't. There were other acceptable options.
2. Major: I ordered the pork chop solely because of the home-made apple-cranberry chutney (otherwise I'd ordered something else), only to learn that they out - when the pork chop was delivered. Nothing was offered as a replacement for the chutney, which was positioned as a major component of the dish.
All told, the meal was pretty good - but not great - for the price.
Our server was very friendly but not quite as helpful as we'd preferred, especially in resolving the issues to a mutual satisfaction.
I would like to give this restaurant higher marks, unfortunately they were out of three side dishes, and two entrees. This is still a relatively new restaurant, however the owner should take action quickly to fix the ordering of the food, and level of service that is expected.
The food was great. Loved the atmosphere. A little cold but I hear that is changing with the new heat. I had a very pleasant experience there and look forward to coming back. Our waiter was great, funny and very attentive. Loved the place.
Very nice atmosphere, good food and we had a really nice waitress did a great job
Food was wonderful and our waitress was great. Service was great also
Met our expectations completely. Warm, friendly staff and great food. My husband had the cod dinner and he is still talking about how good it was. We will definitely be returning.
It was my wife and I anniversary we love coming down to the restaurant. I’m glad you reopened.
The meal was a disaster. The beef brisket was thin slice prime rib which was their special and bad. The fish and chips were barely ok. And the side of Gouda cheese potato’s augratin which sounded fabulous were frozen in the inside.
Spent the afternoon at a nearby winery then a very nice dinner here in Kimmswick. Great atmosphere and food.
Wonderful location in the quaint town of Kimmswick, MO. Went when they first opened and had a limited menu. Was not pleased but went back again after being open for awhile. What a huge difference. Had the Saturday Prime Rib Special , salad and Au Gratin Potatoes. The prime rib was delicious and cooked the way we ordered. Service was great. A hidden gem. Glad I gave them another chance. Can't wait to eat their again.
The food was very good, and the building is interesting. We had a very nice waiter, but several request were made for extra table settings, because we had two extra guests. Finally, had to snag silverware and napkins from a nearby table. Also, one of our friends kept waiting for a water refill that was not offered until the meal was finished.
The servers and bartender we're extremely friendly. Possibly the best Old Fashioned I've had. Our food was good as well. The atmosphere here is great, and the outside seating is a bonus. We did have a few problems though. First, we were seated with empty menu books. When they did bring us a menu, it was the lunch menu, missing the entrees. We ordered our food and a couple of appetizers and our food came first. They forgot the appetizers and had to bring them in to go boxes after we ate. They did comp the appetizers so they made it right. We will definitely give them another try soon.
Brisket was fatty and greasy. Who serves brisket work shrimp sauce? Bengiets were cold not hot. Was told we would have to wait for them yet they were cold not even warm. Probably were frozen yuk. WILL NOT BE BACK
My wife’s birthday dinner was very nice experience in this historic building with beautiful place-setting, quiet surroundings for pleasurable conversation with friends, and fabulous service. This was a Thursday evening, with few patrons, so I can’t project how much a weekend crowd would impact the noise level. My wife’s salmon was wonderful. While I could not resist trying their unique waffles and chicken breast topped with maple syrup and cream gravy, I probably would not repeat such a rich experience! The menu is not extensive but diverse enough to interest most every patron.
Unfortunately we started out with one person in our party of 6 getting ice water dumped down her back. Food was good with large portions. Service a little slow but server comped our drinks and gave the wet guest a free meal. I would definitely return.
Overall it was a great experience. We understand that the day had been hectic with a "dining" review by a tv program (not sure which one) - consequently the staff was probably on the tired side and thus food seemed to be slow in coming out and or follow-up at table was not always timely. However, with that all being said, we are planning on going back and will recommend to our friends.
Food was excellent. Good to see a local restaurant with this quality. Maybe a few more wine selections at the lower end of the price range. Will come back.
I ATTENDED A BRIDAL SHOWER LUNCHON AND IT WAS GREAT. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THE STAFF WENT OUT OF THE WAY TO MAKE EVERYTHING PERFECT...THEY EVEN BAKED COOKIES TO GO ALONG WITH THE THEME AS A GIFT TO EACH PERSON ATTENDING. HAD LUNCH THIS PAST WEEK WITH FRIENDS AND AGAIN IT WAS VERY NICE. HOPE TO RETURN AGAIN REAL SOON .
Service was good. Waitress funny. Food was excellent except dessert. I hope they either learn how to make real beignets or else remove them from the menu. They were a major disappointment. the rest of the meal was fantastic.
The restaurant is located in a log cabin in a quaint old town of Kimmswick located on the Mississippi River 25 minutes south of St. Louis MO. It is in a safe, quiet location. The building is interesting to look at because it is an old log cabin. Inside, it is clean. The bar has an old working player piano. There is a model of the original Delta Queen in one of the rooms. It adds to the ambience and conversation of the dining experience.
The outside seating was lovely. There was a single guitarist who was occasionally accompanied by his wife singing bluegrass/light country music. The food was very good and service was excellent.
This was our first time eating here. Had the prime rib special on Friday night and it was excellent . Service was very good.
We visited on a very rainy night but the atmosphere inside was very pleasant. The table setting was lovely, beautiful dishware and napkins. My spouses pork chop was excellent and my brisket was tender but a little fatty. The salad dressing was delicious. We asked for bread and were informed they were out (it was 7:30pm). There was no sweetener on the table; I asked for it, but didn't get it. Overall though, it was a good experience just a few negatives.
Food was great. Tried to reserve table for 7pm but open table said they were booked until 8:30. So we got a table for 6:30 which was inconvient to us. When we got to the restaurant we were the only people inside and NOBODY came in after us. Coming in we noticed a nice patio with a nice quiet band playing with lots of open tables. We asked to be seated outside and was told no because they did not have enough wait staff. So we sat inside by ourselves the whole night. Like I said the food was great but the operation was lacking.
Was very pleased with with the evening. Family from out of town and wanted to try some place we hadn't been. Perfect choice. Will be back.
