What Insiders Are Saying
Del Posto is one of the best special occasion restaurants in New York City. Think of it like a more upscale Babbo, or Daniel with pasta.
always a great experience at Del Post. very special. Highly recommend.
Astonishingly good food. Excellent, thoughtful service. We sat and ate and talked for 4 hours, and no one made us feel rushed. It was an exceptional experience on every level.
Just a wonderful restaurant. Terrific food, service and ambiance.
It was the best meal i ever had! Amazing!!
Great food and service, however, the 4 of us asked for the wine pairing ($95) and whenever we wanted some more wine, they said you´d had to buy a full glass... I mean, after paying $380 for wine pairing, I´m sure an extra glass for each one wouldn´t be too much and that´s the kind of little details that spoil a great experience.
Our head server, Cory, was truly outstanding!
Always 5 stars and never disappointed
The entire DelPosto staff is always courteous and the chef always brings it to a new level.
After one of the best dining experiences at Del Posto for a November birthday four years ago, we wanted to go again for a very special occasion. It seemed a completely different place. Bar was empty and took forever to get drinks. Our table was in the back stuck next to a wall of wine glasses, so servers interrupted us taking them off the shelves.
Server had a very loud voice which hurt our ears. Service in general lacked sophistication and pacing. Lots of pretentious details that didn't work. The somm was full of rote stories and was excited about the huge bottles of wine they now sell. Tacky. As was the clientele this time.
Bottom line. Food just okay. Baby Octopus & Cacciucco particularly sub-par. Service dull and unsophisticated. Seems like it has turned into a tourist trap rather than what was a top New York restaurant. Disappointed.
So amazing and unique.
Some of the best service I’ve ever received. Treated with ultimate silver service. Food dishes were very good but not the best I’ve ever had.
There are not enough stars to give. Cory and our server ensured we had a memorable experience so much we are going back for dinner this trip. We did the lunch tasting menu and it was exquisite. The attention to detail was second to none and the care they took providing gluten free options for me was incredible. They even had made fresh bread for me! I have not had gluten free pasta this amazing in so long. BRAVO!
I was so looking forward to a wonderful evening at a restaurant I had heard so much about. The food was absolutely amazing but the service left much to be desired. It was completely devastating to watch everyone around us receive impeccable, swift service while we waited and waited and waited. In the end I had to ask that my final course be wrapped up to go because I was simply so exhausted from all the time spent waiting in between each course. My date also noticed that there was a ridiculous wait time and therefore isn't interested in returning. I would have to say for a bill of 500 I was less than impressed
First time at Del Posto. Have heard about it for a while. Beautiful place, excellent and innovative food, wonderful atmosphere, but expensive.
Juan was a fabulous host/waiter/matre de. He was welcoming, explained the menu and made us feel wonderful. All of the servers were extremely professional & kind. The food was magical. All of the different flavors/spices/a culinary transport!! We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary, come to NY daily, and will be back.
Very disapppointing. Main entrees were like warm, steak was tough.
Beginning was a nightmare. My wife's birthday and we were ignored at our table for 15 minutes. We complained and they made up for it with attentiveness and some complimentary drinks. Food was good as always but didn't blow me away like it has. I'd still come back but will what awhile.
Amazing restaurant!! We had wonderful service and the menu was incredible. Highly recommend this restaurant!
The food was very good. It was odd, but it was quite a while before they put some bread down on the table. We had our daughter with us and she quite hungry.
Since you folks welcome children 6 and older, I was a little surprised that there were no specific items for children.
This is an expensive ! restaurant but with really great Italian-American food. Absolutely delicious, excellent service, nice atmosphere. But expect to spend $150-$200 PER PERSON for an appetizer, pasta, desert, glass of wine, coffee for 2. This was a la carte because the tasting menu with secondi course was too much food for us. As it was even our limited a la carte menu made us incredibly full.
This is a top, fancy restaurant, not for those without some $ or poor tste.
This is a delicious restaurant but is so overpriced it takes away any joy you have in going there. The food selections were excellent. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was comfortable and comversations were possible without yelling or asking for things to be repeated constantly. When the evening is over and you have had a meal for four persons with wine (not their top shelf selections) and your bill is nearly $500 per person your realize that you have been had. A really nice restaurant but insanely priced. I suppose the very wealthiest can go and brag that they spent that much on a meal. I have no ego problem with that sort of thing. Eating at a place like Del Posto I fully expected to pay a high price. They exceeded my expectations by a lot. Sorry. Had it been only a bit more reasonably priced I would have given it a glowing recommendation
You get what you pay for and Del Posto is no exception. Wonderful people and the food it beyond excellent.
Despite having very high expectations from diner's reviews, I was overly impressed with the food, service and ambiance. A phenomenal dining experience.
came here with my boyfriend for his bday and was absolutely blown away. have been wanting to try Del Posto for so long and so glad I did! it is definitely a special occasion setting, but so worth it. Everything from the food to the service to the ambience was impeccable. The sommelier helped us pick out delicious wines and cocktails, the servers were so kind, and they brought out an extra treat for my boyfriends birthday. we did the tasting menu and so glad we did - that is truly the best way to experience a restaurant like this. Our favorite dishes were the anelloni bolognese, the cappellaci pasta, and the veal/tuna appetizer. Everything was excellent though! Its no wonder this has been a staple NY establishment for so long. Will definitely be returning! Thank you Del Posto!
One of the best meals of the year. Best pasta dish ever: spaghetti ai ricci di mare
Lighting is too dim; I would have liked to see my meal...
The Captain’s Tasting Menu was worth the price. The stories/explanations for each serving were helpful. Service was excellent.
Great experience in food, service, ambiance and wines. The 8 course Captain’s menu with the $295 wine pairing was as good as expected with exceptional red wines and unusual whites and roses. Very friendly servers knowledgeable of food and drink. Warning: the menu takes better part of 3 hours. Highly recommend for a special treat.
Everthing was delicious with the exception of our desserts?
Somehow they just did not live up to the rest of our meal.
The lactose one was not good at all.
Surprising as our last experience was over the top.
Which is why we came back!!
As always great food and great athmophere with outstanding service.
INCREDIBLE lunch!! Our daughter has a gluten allergy and that is why we decided to eat here. She was treated like royalty. She had bread, pasta, desserts and treats. We were just as impressed. We have traveled and eaten all over the world and this spot stands out. Food was delicious! Service was impeccable!
We had the 8 course meal which means a lot of very small portions which was perfect for us. Each course was interesting and good.
Great environment, great food, and great service.
Absolutely immaculate! From the incredible service, romantic ambience, to the delectable food. One of a kind, jaw-dropping experience! Bravo
It was like a fairytale.
Food seemed a bit rich and buttery
Love love love the restaurant and service! I’d give a 4.5 on the food if I could, because the only thing that brought it down was the dessert. I ordered the panna cotta and did not eat it (too much rosemary), but every other dish was superb.
Amazing. Worth the price. This Place lived up to everything I had ever heard about it the service was exceptional the food was wonderful the atmosphere was amazing. It’s not a quaint cozy little Italian restaurant but it is an amazing finish out and I’ll Beyonce
Awesome option for lunch as well as dinner. Been here for dinner a few times which is incredible for so many reasons, especially the chefs tasting menu with wine pairing AND gluten friendly haven, pretty much whatever you want they will prepare GF. Lunch however was a nice surprise from a value perspective. 3 course $59 and add pasta for $10. Great value for lunch to try an amazing restaurant and not break the bank.
Best, best, best...
del posto is impecable. extraordinary food, excellent service.
