What Insiders Are Saying
Del Posto is one of the best special occasion restaurants in New York City. Think of it like a more upscale Babbo, or Daniel with pasta.
Amazing from start to finish!
Impeccable service, beautiful ambiance, and flavorful cuisine. A very special dining experience!
Met my son for dinner and from start to finish it was great. Staff is top notch. Great choices for both food and wine. Will return soon.
We’ve been here many many times, but it’s my first time
leaving a review. The service is impeccable, and they are always very accommodating to our special requests (modifying/adding courses, etc.) One of our favorite places in nyc.
Everything was outstanding!!!!!
Very much a "hit and miss" experience with the 5 course menu.
While antipasto selections were tasty, some of the pasta entrees were over-processed beyond recognition. Hard to tell whether the Girella Genovese, which came in the form of a hockey puck, was meat, or pasta. Hard cooked on the outside and drizzled with a "pork reduction", it was essentially inedible. The Branzino was processed and manipulated to the point that it was dry and tasteless. The inclusion of guanciale in the dish (sea bass and pork cheek?) was not a plus.
The Bastianich Vespa Rosso wine was a pleasant surprise.
The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable and mitigated our disappointment with the food.
Definitely a "been there, done that experience" for us.
Unlikely to go back.
Absolutely could not have been better. People food atmosphere superb!!
Great food, great service, one of the best italian wine lists of NYC, in a very ample and silent room where we can talk and enjoy the great food. Expensive but well worth it. Highly recommended !
Marcos was an excellent maitre’d who explained all the dishes with great detail and provided us a wonderful first time experience. Thank you.
Special birthday celebration
The most amazing culinary experience I've ever had.
A lovely (if expensive!) meal. Looking forward to going back.
Top notch. The best restaurant in NYC.
We’ve been going there for many years and they always are evolving and improving. The service is white glove without being stuffy. Amazing food, the most unforgettable wines and cocktails. Desert is always sinful. They always impress.
Beautiful decor and atmosphere
Nothing short of AMAZING!! Every. Single. detail!!!! Good was beyond delicious!!
By far THE BEST restaurant in NYC!
I am a long time fan of Del Posto. The room is stunning and the service very good. Overall food quality was off. Just not what it used to be.
Wonderful meal and experience
Thoroughly enjoyed the Captain’s tasting menu sleigh the wine pairing. Tastes were incredible and service impeccable.
I went their in the day I made a proposal for my fiancé. Everything was perfect!! The waiters they know what’s their are doing, you have one waiter for wine, one for take order, one to explain the plate.
The restaurant is little bit expensive, but for a special day is perfect!!!!!
We choose the chef menu, the waiter ask some questions about what we like, and we have 8 plates, which one was better then the other!
Thank you del posto for this wonderful night! Was everything perfect!
Best place to celebrate! Exceptional service and food.
Food is delicious and beautifully displayed. Service is friendly and very efficient. One is never rushed.
We are treated so well by everyone who works at this restaurant. It is our favorite in NYC.
We are never disappointed. The high standards prevail.
I do not know what is the standard for giving a seat of honor. I know that window seat is the seat of honor but most asians are impossible to sit there and the quality of the food was not suitable for the price. Maybe it's because I have a lot of expectations and moreover employees did not properly explain the food.
Good wine selection with a good match (w/meal)
Kind and friendly hospitality.
Incredible food and service. Although it was a bit pricey ($150 pp), the entire experience was worth it.
5 course tasting menu with wine pairings was wonderful. They pay attention to every detail of your dining experience.
A beautiful restaurant with enough space between tables & good acoustics so you can actually have a conversation.
The food for the most part is excellent in both presentation & taste.
We had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I highly recommend doing so.
Our one issue with a fish dish was that it was over cooked. When the bill came, we noted an adequate amount had been deducted to reflect our displeasure.
Food allergies are noted and accommodated for.
The staff is fabulous.
Perhaps the best meal I've ever had. Service was well above the bar, impeccable attention to detail. 10/10 would recommend/will be back myself!
Amazing food, good drinks good service.
Del Posto is the most wonderful Italian restaurant that I have ever dined at in New York City. The interior is spacious, elegant and very upscale. We had the 3 course luncheon which includes several options a d some little surprises. Service is leisurely but very attentive. A pianist performed quiet classics all afternoon. The whole expetience was dreamy.
The food was outstanding and the service impecable!!!
Excellent food and high quality service.
Beautiful ambiance matched with amazing food. The burratta cheese/butter to put on the bread was too good so we all ate too much of it, so beware.
More high quality and delicious gluten free options than any other restaurant we have been to.
Food was fabulous. Best meal of my life. The flavors were so prominent and out of his world. Would highly recommend. The wine list is unbelievable.
Beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend. Very extensive wine list.
Infinite potential but sadly disappointed. Here is the summary:
Security offered to park car in front: A+
Coat check: A+
Initial greeting: A (waited 5 min before being seated).
Look / Feel / Ambiance: A+. Chic but not stuffy. BEAUTIFUL Xmas tree. Overall design/decor: superb.
Noise level: perfect for a conversation.
Background live piano music: Sublime. A+
Wine/drink list: iPad. Somewhat tacky for this level restaurant. B
Cocktails: Amazing (both the alcoholic and the non-alcoholic).
Wine list: extensive. Some clearly outrageously $$ but superb choices. Mark up ~ 300%. A/B+
Service: Impeccable A+++
Complimentary amuse bouche: x 2. Beautiful presentation especially one brought on warm black stone cubes. Soup underwhelming. Bread /butter AAA+
Appetizers: we had a 5 course menu for the group. Ea person was given a different choice (not because we asked). Overall excellent. B+/A- I was given the octopus. Beautiful creation BUT if you have ever tried Octopus at a place like Milos, this will be many notches below. Just no comparison.
Primi included 2 small servings of pasta. One with saffron, herbs and mussels was to die for. A+. The other was a version of rigatoni Bolognese (of sorts). Good. Until this point, the restaurant would get 5 stars overall.
But the last serving which included their version of Dover sole, Guinea hen, pork chops and a 4th dish that my daughter had (I think this was a combination of scallops and ...) was very average. The Guinea hen was ok but there was nothing about it (look taste presentation) that was better than your average chicken at a diner. If you have ever tried a good chicken-under- the-brick (if Not please do or read Bitman’s recipe and do your own), you would seriously question why they would serve this mediocre Guinea hen at a 300pp meal. The Dover Sole was a TRAVESTY. Have they never tried a real sole meunière?? Chewy, tasteless, just awful. Desserts were also an utter failure of taste and imagination.
We have been to Del Posto’s many times over the years. On our most recent visit we knew Mario Batali was no longer part of the operation of the restaurant. We were curious to see what the changes were. When we arrived everything was the same as at our previous visits — until we saw the menu. The menu was very different than our previous visits. The Del Posto we knew and loved had a fair number of elegant meat dishes and pasta dishes, all great but nothing overly complicated. The menu at the new Del Posto was different. There were no dishes I recognized from previous visits. The main courses on the menu were mostly fish and only one of the pastas was close to what we would have seen in earlier visits. The food was good but it was not what we expected nor was it for us. We will not return and would caution anyone expecting the old Del Posto to check out the menu first.
