Great Valencian Seafood -- especially the Paella. Quiet modern facility with restaurant area separated from the active bar area. Top service and good Spanish wine menu
Amazing restaurant with amazing food. We had the seafood paella and it was the best I have ever had. The calamari in it was so fresh, the lobster, muscles and prawns cooked to perfection.
Absolutely lovely from start to finish- but I don’t expect anything less from the Fiola Group. All of their restaurants offer an impeccable experience- food, service, and ambience are always flawless! Among the very best in DC for fine dining.
It was fantastic. Delicious food, trendy atmosphere, and the wait staff was amazing. Overall, a terrific meal.
The cocktails were stunning and the cuisine was perfectly flavored. Very nice experience!
An amazing dinner! Knowledgeable, but not at all pretentious staff, especially with pronouncing the dishes! Ha! The small plate option was a fabulous way to try many different things. Everything was delicious, but most of all blown away by what they did to make butternut squash soup sing. It’s the perfect example of taking food you enjoy to waaaaay beyond expectations. A delightful evening. Can’t wait to come back!
Excellent tapas. The bloody Mary was very well done with a prawn size of my finger. Really nice paella (a little bit small though)
We arrived early for our 12:15 reservation, about 11:45. We were seated right away. We had coffee which was not very hot. We had tortilla Espanola which was pretty good. I have had better, though. Next was grilled octopus. It was really excellent and didn't need the aioli it was served with. Eggplant stew with poached egg was good and there was a garlic sausage with a truffle sauce that was excellent. We had the caramelized cheesecake for dessert and a cheese plate. Our check was $110 without the tip. There were 2 of us. I know DC is expensive and Del Mar is right at the water front, so I wasn't surprised. Servers were very pleasant and supervisors checked with us also. Very good experience.
Definitely returning. An amazing experience overall.
Fantastic! The food, drinks, & staff are amazing!
We had a wonderful dining experience at Del Mar. The food was outstanding along with the presentation, we had great suggestions for wine pairings, and most of all, the service was simply among the best I’ve experienced in DC.
Is expensive, the place is beautiful but food is not so good
Duck paella was good. Service was excellent. Noise level is like other new restaurants these day's.
Beautiful restaurant; outstanding service; outstanding/interesting menu. Great spot for special occasion dining!
The table was ready on time. The service and food were both excellent. Would highly recommend.
Love, love Delmar. We had company coming on Valentines Day so we celebrated early. This is a fabulous restaurant and a fabulous experience. Wish my wallet was thicker so I could eat there more often. We started with special cocktails and they were special. We followed up with a seafood tower for $75. The tiger prawns in a remoulade were huge, the oysters, octopus, tuna and sardines were amazing. We felt we got our moneys worth. We followed up with 5 small plates and fabulous dessert. The server and the service were impeccable. Cannot wait to return.
It was our first visit to the much lauded Del Mar. It did not disappoint. Being novices to their menu, our server Rebecca was warm, knowledgeable and very helpful in telling us what she personally recommended. We very much like when a server takes ownership of their menu and she did that in the best way possible. Afterwards, Manuel, the manager, came over, introduced himself and thanked us for our visit. We will be sure to go back several more times so that we can fully enjoy the diverse menu offerings.
Exceeded expectations in all areas. Can’t wait to come back!
Music choice was NOT what you’d expect at DM
Celebrated our anniversary here and it was amazing! The octopuses was to die for and received complementary champagne and desserts. Tremendous service and an incredible night!
Very good food and ambiance, but you pay for it.
So I would have given this restaurant 5 stars for everything except the reception desk staff are terrible. The are rude, and as I watched them with other customers I know I wasn’t just towards me. When people come in they are ignored while staff looks down at a screen. There are no smiles and even when the words “Welcome to Del Mar” are spoken there is no sincerity in their tone. If you ask for an update on your table you are waiting on you are treated like an annoyance. Once you get to your table everyone is wonderful. I have been here several times and I continue to be amazed at the level of disconnect between front staff and the rest of the house. The food is fantastic so I will come back and maybe the desk staff knows this so see no reason to show even basic curtesy.
This was out third visit. We sometimes come here before a play at Arena Stage. The appetizers were truly great. The paella was very good but not as great as we had had before. The service was outstanding! We will come back.
Portions very small , overpriced for the portion sizes
Nothing special about the taste
Better than expected. Will return.
Excellent food and service, we were very impressed!
Excellent food and excellent service!
Birthday for my wife was amazing!
One my favorite places!
Loved the grilled octopus and paella. Very well done. And appreciate the use of soft materials that absorb sound.
Got the black truffle cheese and lobster paella- both excellent. Great. Cocktail menu too!
Exceptional food and service
Amazing food and impeccable service!
The whole experience was great. Our server was so nice and the sommelier was super knowledgeable and we loved every bit of the food too.
Still thinking about those churros
Every tapas we ordered was delicious, however finding a server was challenging. There were a lot of people rushing around, but none stopped by our table. We felt forgotten; plates stacked up (tapas, remember) and our server rarely made an appearance. Hard to place another order, and even check out. Fabio, fix this...your other restaurants have always had outstanding service.
Fantastic meal, great service and amazing place. Loved it from start to finish!
The food was awesome. Pricey, but delicious. House wine bottle was more expensive than I thought it would be. Plus with $50 corkage fee, it seemed pricier than I had expected. I would live to go again, but not frequently due to the cost.
This was our 4th visit to the restaurant and most recently in December and January. Both nights were exceptional in food and service. We especially enjoyed sitting downstairs with a view of the Wharf, but did take a walk to the upstairs and were pleasantly surprised by the decor and ambiance of the upstairs. We will certainly keep this restaurant at the top of our list especially in connection with an event at Arena Stage.
