Terrible service! I came here often when I lived in Solana Beach and was hoping to have a lovely dinner after the race track. We waited to get seated for about 15 min and didn’t get our order in for about 30 min…by the time I inquired about our food we had been sitting for over an hour without any service. Every time we needed something we had to get up and find someone to help us. We asked for straws and cut lemons multiple times before getting anything. So disappointing!

Some how, this place says it received a spot on one of the best 10 restaurants in Del Mar list. Not even close. The wait staff, although pleasant, seemed to be on their first day, without any training. Food came out in uneven spurts, some hot, so cold, all without flavor, and expensive. Will not return.

The beef in my Kung Pao ‘filet mignon’ was overcooked and chewy, definitely not filet mignon. The chicken in the Kung Pao chicken was overcooked and dry. Seaweed salad and eggplant appetizers were tasty. It’s a little unusual to strike out on both meat/poultry dishes. So I won’t try again.

This used to be one of my favorite places. This time I walked out and will not be back. The rice had brown spots like from the bottom of the steamer. The chicken was so overcooked, I could not eat it.

Super disappointing. We’ve had very nice meals at Rendezvous over the years, but couldn’t have had a worse experience last Thursday night. Service was so slow it took us 45 minutes to get an order in and and another 45 to get served cold, uninspired food. It was like there were two servers and one cook. Is there new ownership??

Unfortunately we are very disappointed in the quality of the food. This has always been our favorite restaurants in Del Mar we haven’t been here for a couple of years because of obvious reasons and they must have a new chef or changed ownership because I’ve never had such low quality food from this restaurant. And the prices were just outrageous, we each had a glass of wine with shared one entrée and fried rice to the tune of about $150

We have been costumer for many years and although in the surface seems like nothing has changed everything has changed, staff, food, décor, and not all for good. It's difficult to say what's different, but is noticeable if you have been attending the restaurant for years. Still good, but before it was excellent.

Drinks were served up quickly. Ordered appetizer and main dishes all at once and everything came out all at once. It was apparent that certain dishes had been sitting waiting for others to finish cooking. Two out of three entrees arrived cold. Quite disappointing in presentation. The Orange Chicken was highly breaded with tough chicken inside. The Mongolian Beef was not tender at all. The Chicken in Lettuce cups appetizer was presented with a half head of iceberg lettuce that included a huge hole. This yielded two “cups” and the rest of the leaves were unsuitable to use that way. Had to ask for the hoisin sauce it is supposed to be served with. The Eggplant in Claypot Tofu was the best dish - flavorful and with tender eggplant (but not served in the traditional claypot). Rice was very clumpy. Perhaps it’s a COVID thing with young waitstaff or there has been a change in ownership or management. The prices keep going up and the quality keeps going down. Such a disappointment from what used to be our favorite celebration restaurant in Del Mar.

Started with pork potstickers ,$15, good flavor, texture. Crunchy on one side and soft on the other; with dumpling sauce. Main dishes included the pungent chicken , $24, breaded strips of white meat chicken sautéed in a spicy, pungent red sauce (medium intensity).Favorite dish was the Kung Pao filet mignon , $28, bite size pieces seared in a wok with peanuts, green and bell pepper, green and white onion, caramelized hoisin and chili paste sauce. Imaginative combination of flavors and textures. Good service. Cozy, noisy atmosphere.

Really enjoyed the appetizers and wine but the main entrees took a long time. I think they finally came out around 45 minutes after we finished our appetizers and the place wasn’t that busy. Nevertheless I would go back again yo try some other dishes.

The service was great ( if not a little pushy). The online menu is inadequate to make reasonable decisions since they have a lot of menu choices, so we asked for paper menus. The waiter agreed, hesitatingly, but said the prices were no longer accurate. Was he right! At least 20%-25% higher. $9.00 pint of Sapporo? We get that everything is more now, but $235 for 4 for California Chinese food is a bit much. The “house music” was way too loud and made the experience less enjoyable. We also get that we’re seniors, but the music shouldn’t be all that at 6:00 PM in a restaurant this isn’t even half full. Not a fun night. We were obviously celebrating a birthday, I put it on the reservation, and no mention or even a complimentary dessert? One and done for us. Sorry DMR.

The ambience was nice and the service was good, but the food was just "ok" and expensive. It's "americanized asian food", so my Asia born picky fiance did not like the food, just to put that in perspective. American palates used to Panda Express type of American-Asian food would be fine.

We went there last night around 5 o’clock. there was only one other table in there. we hadn’t been in a long time & the decor in there is just awful. I don’t know why they changed it…🧐 The food was not the same I don’t know if they’ve changed owners but I will not be back… very $$$$$ sorry to say

We’d eaten at Del Mar Rendezvous many times before the start of the pandemic. It was always one of our favorites. Unfortunately, the food, while still good, didn’t rise to the spectacular level it had achieved in the past. The ahi sushi seemed of a lower grade than in the past, though still really good. The calamari was just ordinary whereas in the past it had been the best calamari we’d every had anywhere. The food was definitely good to really good. But, it wasn’t the exceptional food we’d come to expect from them. Also, the prices had increased quite a bit. Our bill for two entries and two appetizers before tip was nearly $100. We noted that the restaurant had very few patrons, either eating in or getting carry out orders. Perhaps our experience wasn’t unique. We’re just disappointed. This had been an absolute favorite.

We had a reservation at 4:30 and only the chef was there. No server or host were there so the chef let us in. Not only the chef took our order, he also made us an appetizers and brought us our wine and water, he basically was the host/waiter and chef. Kudos to him and I sure appreciate him. once the wait staff arrived they were not attentive, i had to ask for our missing food and soy sauce (twice). The food was OK, it was so overpriced. The place is really cute and im a pristine spot. the bathroom was disgusting.

Usually I would give a glowing review of the food here, however, last night something was off.! I ordered my favorite Shanghai Noodles: the chicken was tough, there were only 2 small shrimp, the sauce was thin and watery and the noodles - which were supposed to be pan fried were mostly cold and very crunchy with no soft ones. What happened? I'm hoping this was just a fluke and off night because that dish is my all time favorite .

Noodles were very different in the spicy seafood noodle soup than they used to be. Much more spaghetti like now. Was typically a larger udon like noodle in the past. Also almost a 50% increase in price over the last couple of years. All that being said. The food was great and we will go back.
