Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse - San Diego
Book your next event with us
Good for special occasions. Attentive staff but it felt forced Good food but not great for the price point; Amazing wine menu; In my opinion, Ruth's Chris gives a better experience for your spend.
The food and ambience were amazing! The steaks were cooked to perfection.
Five star experience from start to finish! From our server Thai, Sommelier Adrian and the Manager Justin - they all succeeded our expectations for the evening. my husband and I could not have asked for a better experience. We were sat at the most romantic and beautiful table on the second floor overlooking the bay. From the decadent cheese-curds, fabulous blue cheese wedge and our petite filet's the meal was properly temp'd and paced. All items were delicious and full of flavor. My husband was given a birthday surprise at the end of our meal with a butter crust cake that was made in house. This was hands down the best dessert I have ever had! I will come back begging for more. All in all a great addition to the downtown fine dining scene and we will be back again and again. Thank you team Del Frisco's!
Service was excellent. Food prep exactly as requested. The new facility is beautiful and elegant. A bit pricey
Great au gratin potatoes
Be ready to spend some money. If you’re willing to not worry about the prices (dinner for 2 was 400 without wine). If you’re still in, this place was OUTSTANDING! Morton’s, Ruth’s etc have a lot to look up to. Everything was perfect including my date, although they can’t guarantee that you asked the right person, they will give you flavor, service, a view and easy going elegance. The service is warm, not stiff. I am not one to remember servers names but he host Sienna was so welcoming, our waitress Heather was perfection, and each touchpoint in the experience exceeded expectations. I left feeling that kind of food high that comes from great food, no food coma even after a HUGE amount of food and dessert. Truly a new favorite.
My favorite San Diego restaurant! An absolute must whenever you’re in the 619!!!!
Very good service and management eager to please. Quality of meat seemed very good, but lacked flavor
Steak was not as good as a Fleming’s or Ruth’s Chris. Was supposed to be a boneless ribeye but tasted like a basic New York. Sides were good. Prices about the same.
Nothing to really draw us back
Probably will not go again
The food was prepared perfectly! The presentation was great. The lobster bisque was some of the best I’ve had. The filet was seasoned perfectly and the dessert was amazing. Sabrina, the server, was so outgoing and very solicitous- anticipated our needs and had food delivered at the perfect time. We went here for restaurant week. My Mom said it was the best meal she’s had! That’s saying a lot considering how picky she is! 5 star for sure. We will be going back.
The food was delicious.
This was our second time at this location. Our first time was in NYC and I fell in love with DFG. We were here about 3 months ago and everything was fabulous. It was for my wife's bday and everything went exceptionally well. The service was great and everything came in as timely manner. Steaks were cooked just right, salads had the right amount of dressing and the desserts given free of charge for my wife's bday were to die for. However on this occasion, I must say was a little disappointing. This time we came down for my bday. They gave me a card which was a nice thought but when I opened it up, it said, "Happy Anniversary". The food and service were again we're well above par. Unfortunately, it took 3 hours to complete our meal. From the time after we got our appetizer's and salad, it took almost an hour to get our entree. I decided to upgrade my filet from an 8oz to a 12oz because at the time I was still very hungry, but since it took almost 2 hours for our entree to come, my hunger had subsided. I complained to our waitress but she said the had a party of 40 and 20 upstairs. I know this wasnt her fault but from what this tells me is that the big party was more important than mine. We traveled from Solana Beach to come down and didn't get back home til 11pm. If it wasn't 1/2 hour away, I would probably come back, but after this experience, I will stick to Fleming's and Pamplempousse, my goto in North County
Thai was an excellent server, very on the ball!
We visited Del Frisco's for lunch during Restaurant Week. We never saw the upstairs , which I would have thought they would have wanted to highlight (I assume there is dining on the second floor) however the first floor seating was very nice. It just did not capture the view potential. The steak was excellent. I upgraded to the 45 day dry aged 16 oz. rib eye. I finished the steak for breakfast the next day and had two unbelievable meals. The ceasar dressing was a little watery probably due to not drying the romaine completely. The croutons were great. The two desserts (mousse and cheese cake) were both exceptional. The lunchtime was a great opportunity to give this fine restaurant a try. BTW, the service was outstanding.
Moms 82nd birthday
Had a reservation for 8pm. After being told numerous times “your table is being set” we came to believe this wasn’t the case as it 8:45pm and we were nowhere near being seated. We finally just decided to eat in the bar area. The decor and setting where nice so we let that go and moved on with having a great dinner. Food was borderline ok. We we got our bill we were charged for a bottle of wine that was $300 over the one we ordered and drank. Apparently the manger had just changed the wine codes and that was the cause -I’m not convinced.
An overall great experience, amazing food and excellent service!!
Excellent dinner. Only minor negative were the hosts that were busy chatting and didn’t acknowledge us on the way out.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Our server, Peggy, added to the overall experience!
We went to Del Frisco’s for a daughters birthday and was very disappointed. Our reservation was at 7pm last night. The servers were very nice we ordered our food and by 833 pm we still had not got soup and salads by this time I had to flag one of the servers to find out if they forgot about our food only to find out the ticket machine was having issues and our order did not make it to the kitchen. By now it is after 9pm and my fiancée had an early morning flight so by 930pm I found our server again and told them just have the food boxed up to go. So we were not able to eat our hot food but had to take it home. We really love all the Del Frisco’s and will be going back again hopefully this was just a one time thing. My suggestion is to always keep your customers abreast to what is going on.
Excellent steal and salmon. Good service.
We went for lunch on Restaurant Week. Great meal for $25. Filet was perfect. My husband had the Salmon. Best value for Restaurant Week. Love this restaurant
Great overall service, food and ambience.
We ordered off the restaurant week menu so the value was great and the salmon was delicious!
The food was very good and our waiter Chris was excellent. Very quiet atmosphere.
My wife and I enjoyed the restaurant week menu here. Amazing decor and ambiance! Had one of the best filet mignon I've ever had!
Good but not great.
Del Frisco's used to be one of my favorite places to eat for business and pleasure both. I usually frequent Texas locations, so this was the first time I have tried this location. Food was pretty good as usual, but everything else was downhill. The Del's Delights were chunky and not smooth, the service was more akin to what I would expect at Chili's, the manager never visited the table once like they normally do, the trashcan in the bathroom was overflowing. With this now being the third less than stellar experience in a row at a Del Frisco's, I am about running out of patience which is disappointing because it used to be such a great experience. I saw they were just recently sold so I don't know if they were understaffed or what these past few months, but nonetheless, not the experience I was hoping for or looking forward to for my party of 6 which is a shame.
Sadly I was disappointed. I read some negative reviews but still wanted to try it, knowing that sometimes things just happen. HOWEVER... I now feel differently. I was in for a conference and stayed at the hotel connected. I love a good high end steakhouse and I’m rarely disappointed. It happened to be restaurant week and what I usually order (filet) was on the menu so I went with it. Nothing was good. Filet over cooked. Potatoes dry. Ordered the heirloom cauliflower additionally and it was terrible. Wait, the caesar salad was pretty good. The restaurant was beautiful with a lovely upper deck view of the water. I wanted to love it but the food was such a bust. ☹️
Terrible service had to ask to order drinks food etc, completely ignored us
I would chalk up my disappointment to going on a Sunday night during restaurant week for our anniversary.
We love Del Friscos in Las Vegas and Denver and hoped for the same experience in San Diego. It was far more casual and we didn’t feel as special. Slow to get greated And place order. Inattentive follow up.
Not sure if I will give it a 2nd chance with so many other options.
Very relaxing atmosphere!! Food and service were great overall!!!
Location is great, clean and inviting in the middle of San Diego. The food, steaks were a little below average for what we have had from other top steak houses, my ribeye, was 2/3rds fat had a replacement filet, not as good as expected.
Very good but overpriced for what we received , of course their overhead, location etc warrants the extra dollars.
Excellent service , food and ambience ! The VIP cocktail was very sweet and I would recommend it as an after dinner drink rather than an aperitif..
Made reservation to try this Steak house. Have eaten often at many Steakhouses both here and other major cities in US, Rate this at the lower level. Not knowing the layout I didn't request location. One of the hostesses started to show us a table at the lower level(right next to the walkway and tourist street) suitable for a snack and drink, but not a nice, pleasant steak upscale dinner. Refused sitting there and went back to hostess desk where a gentleman(looked like a manager) suggested there was a lovely outside heated deck upstairs with great view. Also suggested that they were testing(environmentely sensitive) eliminating tablecloths. Sat us at a rear table(no view, cheap table mat, which wobbled and not fixable,) Waiter suggested a new drink for my wife, delicious and expensive(OK). We usually like to split a top sirloin. There was a special $69 menu which I was willing to pay a $20 upcharge to get a larger steak to split which was a ribeye. Extremely fatty, way past good marbling. Total experience for a $200 meal(with tip) complete dud.
Been to many steakhouses and never had a dry aged uncooked and sent back and returns still purple on inside not pink or red but purple! So disappointed. Won’t be going back.
Excellent service and food
Food was great. Loved the Bread Pudding too. Great upstairs views.
Amazing experience and now del Frisco’s is our new favorite dining spot in San Diego. The service was impeccable. Every part of the meal was exceptional: crab cake, lobster bisque, the bread, my wife’s incredible swordfish and my my exceptional bone in Ribeye. The sommelier recommended an excellent wine that we thoroughly enjoyed. And the butter cake desert was heavenly. There just want a single element of the experience that was not first class!! We can’t wait to go back on our next trip back to San Diego.
The ambiance was great and the food was good.
My main observation was our waiter was not as attentive as expected for this level of restaurant. Expect to pay at least 150.00 per couple and that’s not including drinks so my expectation is heightened because the service, food, and ambience are vital to your overall experience and the service was lacking a bit but it was not egregiously poor.
