Definitely not a traditional place to eat. There was no host/hostess to check you in and ensure you were at the right table. We were told to pop our head into the kitchen and let them know we were there for brunch. We were told to sit anywhere we would like. Website offered a la carte menu as well as bottomless mimosa’s and neither of these were offered.

When we arrived for our reservation for Easter brunch, it took a while for someone to come and help us. They sat us outside. There was a wedding the night before so the patio was disheveled and there was a table of wedding guests barefoot with screaming kids running around all of the tables. We were the only people sitting outside and it took fifteen to twenty minutes to get a paper menu and water. The food came out sporadically and the three course meal consisted of a tiny salad, tiny gumbo and an entree (avocado toast or waffles) which they were charging $39 a person. It took at least an hour before our entree came out. The Degas House is a beautiful venue but it seemed that the brunch was thrown together with the idea for the venue to make extra money.

Very nice atmosphere in an historic home. We were the only table having brunch, which I found surprising. The food (3 course brunch) was very good. A tour group did come through but we enjoyed listening in. The server was extremely quiet but did his job.

The food was masterfully prepared and the entire staff were quite charming. The tour guide is also a deGas family member.
