This restaurant was closed. Open table took my reservation, confirmed it via text and yet when I call the restaurant to confirm, the number had been disconnected.
The food was ok, but cold and we wouldn't go back. The probably would have replaced it, but we had to wait a long time and had somewhere to be. The waitress was very nice, but very slow and not attentive. I ate enough to get by.
This was our first time at Deans. We have heard about their Sunday brunches and decided to try it out. Food was really good. I had really hoped for a better Bloody Mary, since its the staple drink of brunch, but was a bit disappointed. Otherwise, we would go again for sure.
We had an amazing experience during our Sunday Brunch. Delicious food, lots of variety, and very good service. The place is gorgeous, too!
There was no one to greet us when we came in. My girlfriend ordered a drink and it came after our appetizer came. Parts or our main dishes were flawed. I had balsamic roasted brussel sprouts, but they were only steamed with no seasoning. My girlfriend had mahi and it was over salted to the point she could not eat it and her side of collards were cold. I used to frequent the place when it was Dean’s Seafood, but since the change in name (and I guess change in ownership/management), the quality and overall experience is severely lacking.
Took 3 requests for bread for my boyfriend's soup and when it finally came, he had finished the soup. Butternut squash soup was tasty but more of a puree and not a soup. I would have liked to see more crab chunks in the crab cakes, lot of filler. Soups were overpriced.
This restaurant was one of our favorites especially for entertaining guests who were visiting from out of town. We had taken these friends there on 2 other occasions and they remembered the delicious seafood they had eaten. We took them there on Monday, Jan. 7 for dinner and we were quite frankly embarrassed. The food was terrible. 2 in our party had crab cakes that never had seen a crab. If my husband and I had been alone we would have refused to eat the food until we received something palatable. However we did not want to make a scene. As it is we believe we wasted $200.
I know they in the process of switching ownership. They removed the pancake station which was a hit for my son. The bread pudding was dry and the taste was blend. When I go to restaurants and I enjoy their desserts and they are not good the next time then I will not return.
Went for Sunday brunch. I made reservations online which was fast and simple. The food was very good. My favorite was the fried chicken, while my daughter's favorite was the shrimp and grits. Nice choice of items for the brunch. The desserts however, were not good.
Our server, Dan, was great, very friendly and informative. I would recommend this and would come again.
Dean's is a great restaurant for a good Sunday brunch. They have a good variety of choices to choose from and you can always go back for more if not full.
Buffet was expensive for what was offered. Hash brown potatoes were dry and not homemade. No assorted breads or bagels offered. Service was a little slow.
Our server was great, she went above and beyond. All of here suggestions were spot on. Food was great!
We met friends for dinner. It was our first time there. They were out of Halibut. Our waiter was very good and helpful with food selection. The bar was under construction. The dinner came out in a timely manner and was good.
While we experienced excellent service, the food came out sub par, at best.
Food was disappointing- lobster bisque very salty and my salmon was not cooked thoroughly- but service was very good and my meal was taken off our bill. And we were offered a free dessert.
Not sure if we will return?
This visit was nothing at all like our first visit as Dean’s Seafood. Waiter was too talkative. There were menu items that were not available. Several items had to be returned. This was most disappointing compared to our first visit.
Scallops were great , and so was the mashed potatoes and asparagus. Definitely would come back. Prices were good considering the quality
We used a Groupon to try Dean's Kitchen + Bar and it was a great meal out! The servers were helpful and attentive and the food was good. We also tried the shrimp appetizer which was outstanding. We would return!
Food was expensive for what you got. although the restaurant was not that busy it took longer than expected to get our food. The grouper sandwich was equal to Mcdonalds filet of fish but cost 5 times more
We both ordered off of the “build your own” menu. Jane had salmon, which she prefers cooked thru, with sides of Asparagus and Mac & cheese, and I had seared tuna (very rare, the way I like it), and balsamic Brussels and carrots. We shared a nice Pinot Grigio. Recommend!
We enjoyed our visit to Dean's. The restaurant offers several dining areas - bar, outside, dining room and an intimate private room with a fireplace. Food was delicious especially the steak and the fish dishes, and we liked being able to choose from a list of sauces. The only negative for me was the very limited and uninspiring wine selection.
Had a reservation, but were seated in the bar area. We weren’t looking for TVs in the background. Service was awful-we needed drink refills and our server was nowhere to be found. Most food was okay, but the appetizer was not. Crab dip was overcooked/ burnt on bottom and pita were hard and chewy.
Restaurant has decreased menu. New owner changing to a Beer Garden. Wait to see how that happens.
I was very disappointed with my dining experience. The restaurant was recommended by a local and since I was from out of town I went. The service was horrible, only 6 or 7 tables were occupied and still the waiter was very slow.
Only one out of three dishes were acceptable. Short ribs were cold and small and shrimp scampi had about five shrimp with a bowl of pasta and was luke warm at best.
I don't really like the changes that Dean's has made. I felt the restaurant seemed cold where before it was cozy and nice for Christmas. I really like the Mahi Mahi I had, but the side dishes were not very good. I had the mashed potatoes and there were chunks of underdone potatoes. My Mom had the mac and cheese and it was so overdone that it was stuck to the dish. Overall it was not as good as I remembered and I won't be coming back.
The service was kind of meh, she was nice but not supper attentive. But there was xmas decorations under a table, and the staff seemed board . They had lots of time for chatter but not for checking on customers. The food was overpriced but not overwhelming. The fried zucchini was good.
Food was mediocre and over priced. One dish came out cold multiple times and the manager never came to speak to us. .
It was my Aunt’s Birthday and she enjoyed herself tremendously! Great restaurant! Food was great and the Service was exceptional! Highly recommend this restaurant!
Made a reservation for Friday night and the place was half empty. Service was friendly but extremely slow. Food was excellent, though rather expensive considering the ambiance, service, and portions. While the food is good, there are many other places in Cary I enjoy eating at more.
Great staff, menu has many options, quality and freshness surpassed expectation. Highly recommend for a casual experience with quality of choices, diversity of choices, reasonable priced and service that was exceptional. A good go-to establishment for entertaining or just a night out.
We decided to try this place for Thanksgiving and were very disappointed. They advertised several types of turkey and only had one, the ham, turkey and "beef" all appeared to be processed. The beef was a dark gray and all were served by a person using their hands (no utensils) wearing black gloves -- at a BBQ place that is authentic, here it just seemed dirty. There was NO attention to presentation and all the food stations were a mess. The service was rough and felt like the #1 goal was to get you out of the place. The little cards with descriptions of the food were difficult to read, mostly because there was food on them. our experience really took away from what is supposed to be a warm soulful holiday.
Thanksgiving feast was not good. It was a complete waste of money. They need a new chief that knows how to make real mac & cheese, dressing (not stuffing) and not to mention the shrimp and grits were awful. I did enjoy the salads more than anything! This was our second year and we wont be going back.
I would recommend, but probably not for Thanksgiving. It was pretty chaotic, the buffet was a sloppy mess by the time we got to it. But service was attentive and pleasant, even with the crowded circumstances, so I think that for a normal non-holiday meal, it would be enjoyable.
Thanksgiving day meal. We went to dinner around 3pm. The place was over crowded, very noisy and generally looked a mess. The hostess staff looked very young or someone brought their kids to work to help out.
We waited a short while for our table and were seated in the bar area where the food was- there was very little turkey available, the roast beef was some sort of pressed meat, there was ham and it looked ok. The other sides like salads, mashed potatoes, veggies were set up all around the bar. There were way too many people and it was very hard to get to the food. I ate more mussels than anything as it was the easiest to get to.
The deserts were tiny pieces of nothing special.
It was $45 of the worst food ever. I couldn’t believe we spent nearly $100 for such poor quality food and unprofessional establishment. I should have left, but kind if stuck since it was Thanksgiving Day.
Live and learn.
Thanksgiving Buffet 2018
Honored reservation on time though failed to check me into OpenTable.
Short lines at buffet
Dean's has removed the booths in the center of the main room (some time ago and not just for Thanksgiving. Center of the room filled with tables. For Thanksgiving groups of tables were pushed together to accommodate larger families. Result is the look and noise of a cafeteria.
Food was cafeteria quality. Desserts were school lunchroom quality. At a high price.
This review is for Thanksgiving 2018 and I have no idea about food and service the rest of the year. But based on my experience, I will not try to find out.
Poor food...even worse service. Waited 20 minutes for drinks. Waiter said that’s pretty much how it’s going to be.
Service and the brunch buffet were excellent. The assortment of fresh fruits, yogurt, an omelette bar, pancakes waffles, fried chicken and standard sides were outstanding. Get there early and enjoy the experience and the very friendly staff
Worst meal ever. Hair in the marinara, burnt grease, everything was overcooked, and I am pretty sure the blue cheese dressing was spoiled.
First time to Deans, unfortunately terrible, and likely last visit. Service took way too long, waiter couldn't seem to remember our orders, salad arrived in horrible shape with old slimy lettuce, wrong sides, wrong salad dressing, and no cheese on our daughter's CHEESEburger. One of the outstanding moments was when the waiter brought my steak out, holding the sharp steak knife in right hand while also holding the plate, and the knife tip was pointed directly at me approximately 6 inches away. One trip and there would have been a severe accident. Never seen anything like it.
