Great food. Recommend the broccolini as a side. Matt was a great server!
My group ordered multiple things, and everything was delicious. Worth every penny. Our drinks were really good and the service was great also.
Great service and experience. Food was fantastic. Recommend getting the appetizer shrimp dish.
Thank you for joining us and your review. We look forward to serving you again and Happy Thanksgiving!
We view this as the premier steak house in Nashville, but they are much more than steak. Recovering from the pandemic shut down they are back (since July ‘20) albeit with a slightly reduced aged beef locker (previously the largest restaurant aging locker in TN). Otherwise the menu and bar are back to pre-pandemic levels with the exception of the excellent wagyu served on a hot salt block brick. Hope that returns soon. The kitchen understands steak and ours was cooked perfectly to order - a smidge past medium rare on this occasion. It came with a nice outer bark, perfectly seasoned. The old standbys were still as good As ever - gumbo Ya-ya with a dense, dark rue as a base was thick with bite sized chunks of savory andouille sausage, authentic New Orleans; the cornbread is a treat, just a tad sweet, dense with a little corn grit feel. The shrimp appetizer (6 large succulent pieces) came wood fired with a sauce but tasted great naked. We’d never heard of dilly but the pickled string beans with a hot pepper sauce that accompanied the fried chicken (hot, crunchy and moist) was a new treat. The fresh gulf fish on a bed of firm grits graced with an onion sauté is always a treat and this dish lived up to memory, crispy skin, flaky texture. Mixed drinks are sufficiently stiff (you won’t have more than 2) with wide bourbon selection. By-the-glass wine pours come in three sizes from a limited but respectable selection if bottles aren’t ordered from the robust wine list with some real winners. Service is excellent, fast, efficient and friendly - and for us fun, a bit of laughter with the exchanges. Short dessert menu with a new addition - olive cake. We found it lighter and less saturated than what we’ve experienced elsewhere. No espresso drinks, coffee in a mug or French press, which was delectable. This place is a gem in Nashville and belongs on everyone’s short list whether for nibbles and drinks or dinner. Highly recommend.
We can't thank you enough for your thorough and wonderful review!!! We look forward to serving you again and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Food was fabulous - probably the best steak in Nashville. Server was even better - she was fantastic with a great personality even with a mask on.
Need a TV or 2 in the bar area.
Fabulous evening with great steaks & sides & cocktails!
Service was very good. Food was good but did not standout.
Thank you for rating us and we look forward to serving you again and chef wants to earn a few more stars with food! We do appreciate you joining us.
Food only received 4 out 5 stars because my steak was overdone a d they had to make a 2nd one. The 2nd one was perfect.
Everything else was fantastic!
Thank you for joining us and chef wants to make up his missing star!
Great food and service.
Great service, great atmosphere. The meat/cheese board was phenomenal, the fried broccolini was superb and the mashed potatoes were heavenly. The porterhouse was cooked perfectly.
Honey/lavender creme brûlée was a perfect ending to the meal.
The best part was the service. From the hostess, the server, the kitchen staff (that kept us entertained through the glass) & even the runners dropping off the plates of goodness.....they all made us feel special.
Awesome server and seediness drinks and food
Food is amazing and the service was outstanding! Looking forward to my next visit.
The BBQ shrimp was over seasoned and a bit salty. Red Snapper was cooked perfect! Steaks were delicious! The collard greens were amazing! I wouldn’t get the olive oil cake again.
Thank you for your kind words and feedback on the Parish Shrimp, we have informed chef of this and we appreciate it very much. We are grateful you joined us and look forward to serving you again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, we sat at the yellow booth which I requested in reservation and it was clean floors were clean and we were socially distanced by more than 6 feet from next guest....the food was incredible we had the mussels for a started and that dish started the meal off right. They were in a beautiful butter sauce with some bread in the middle that soaked up the sauce and went perfectly with the dish...For dinner we shared the porterhouse for 2...this came with half New York strop half filet. The filet was the best part and would order just the filet next time. New York strip was good to but that filet was amazingly tender. We paired dinner with the potato purée and the collard Greens which were both great... we also enjoyed two cocktails which were awesome
Way to go Jay snd Sarah!!
Best steakhouse in Nashville! Food is delicious!! Ask for Matt for your server. He is the best! Very attentive and made our dining experience wonderful!
Amazing. The tomahawk was everything we hoped it would be and more. Strongly recommend!
Awesome server, awesome food and drinks
Très satisfait. Or as my fellow chefs say, “very satisfied “. First visits leave an impression and this one certainly did for the good. The restaurant may be a little short on staff at this time but expect that and don’t be in a rush. Service was slow on serval occasions. The most obvious was after entering and being seated, an hour later I was waiting on my entree. The wine selection is good. I started with the cornbread appetizer and the Gumbo soup. Warning, the cornbread is salted on top, heavily. But did that stop me from eating it all, no sir. The gumbo is a chicken and andouille sausage combo and the spices were perfecto! Better than most of Louisiana gumbos. The meat pieces were Brunoise, bite size, allowing me to include in the spoon, sauce, rice and whatever else of magical elixir was in there . Hovering above my seat now, I had to try the ricotta GNUDI. The famous restaurateur Alvaro Maccioni claimed that they’re “very popular with people on a diet or those who think that pasta is fattening” – but presumably not butter or parmesan cheese. The dish was well paired with kabocha squash, parsnip-cashew cream, pecorino and a seed granola sprinkle. The portion of gnudi was about seven bites. The squash was a lot more and has a sweet finish. I felt I was finishing a meal but with part of it a desert. Yeah, weird right. As I used the last piece of “sodium” bread to get every drop of cashew cream, I thought, I should come back here sometime. And so should you but beware the menu changes every so often. Shame not having the beef tartare.
The steak we had was amazing, didn’t care too much for the crawfish pasta.. The Prince Edward Island oysters were delicious! The Caesar salad was incredible, so fresh, and the homemade croutons were sooooo good!
Great experience and Mat is the best
Everything about this place is amazing!! I recommend everyone to give Deacon's a try!
It was so good, we returned on the second night of a 2-night Nashville stay. Their dry-aged steaks are as good as anyone can expect anywhere. Truly. But the steaks, what we expected to be the highlight of the meal, turned out to be just another wonderful moment in a string of them. We got the deviled eggs and charcuterie apps the first night and then opted for the shrimp and the mussels the second time. The servers are knowledgeable and joyful. The chef is astute. The beverages were simply insanely good. We dumped timely reservations at another excellent place to go back at 5:45 just to experience it again. Get the cornbread app to go with the steaks. Trust the servers for the wine. It's all good.
The spicy crawfish noodles were incredible and unlike anything I’ve ever had!
If you have been there more than once they recognize you and treat you as honored guests. Jen the manager turns sumersalts to makes your requests happen. Great food fit for any Foodie!
Outstanding experience. Our server Matt was fantastic and the food was an A+.
My husband, son (age 8), and I are here when we were traveling through Nashville. It was so good! We have been telling everyone about it. Our entrees were very good, but the broccolini stole the show.
I left unimpressed and unhappy with my choice to celebrate my husband's birthday here. In my reservation, I let it be known it that we were celebrating a birthday. It was never mentioned nor acknowledged. We have been to many great establishments before that welcome you with birthday wishes. Our table was a 1/2 booth with 2 chairs across and then one added to the end (for our party of 5) as if an after thought, even though I had made a reservation days in advance. My son and I both ordered the filet medium. They came out looking completely different. I sent mine back since it was overcooked. By the time I received my food 3 members of our party were completely finished with their meal. The gentleman who brought me the new steak asked me to cut into it in order to ensure it was to my liking. I did not have a utensil since it had been taken away with the original steak. He never checked back to see if I was satisfied. The steak had gristle in parts - not what I was expecting at such an establishment. Unhappy with the experience and would not recommend.
Pleasant dining experience. Great vibe, excellent steaks.
Not sure I want to share this ... the food was amazing but if I tell you how good ... would I get a reservation again without a huge wait???
This may be my new number one in Nashville ... maybe the whole USA? The food is so good and Ben was awesome!
Thank you Deacon's for making my dinner and that of my visitors so delicious and memorable!
We really enjoyed our dinner. Food and drinks were good. Service was great. Was a tad disappointed that there was no parking or valet, which is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
Our first Deacon’s dinner was fabulous! Shrimp appetizer, Caesar salad, and burgers with ENORMOUS onion rings were spot on. Many thanks to our waiter Matt who was delightful and oh so helpful with suggestions. Next time, we are gonna go for some steaks!
Very nice wine menu. We ordered a tomahawk steak but the restaurant didn’t have one available. We received 2 bone-in ribeyes instead. They were cooked just as we would like. Very nice ambiance. Great wine!
The place is nice. The dry-aged steak was good. Would have been great if it were cooked like I like it. The staff didn't seem very happy that I sent my medium well steak back. But I also wasn't happy that my steak came out medium well instead of medium. While they did attempt to remedy the situation, for the price, I probably will not come back.
Great food, spirits, and atmosphere! Third time I’ve been and it doesn’t disappoint.
Great host explaining what’s on the menu. Steaks are awesome and nice atmosphere.
Dinner was great, just as it has been for the previous half dozen visits! Our group interacted with three different staff member and all three treated us like we were the only customer they were helping. Jen was the best!
Celebrated my Mom's birthday at Deacon's New South on Saturday night and had an amazing experience! We ordered the local meat/cheese tray and cornbread to start with some cocktails. The entire menu looked amazing but all five of us ordered the 8oz filet mignon! No regrets because it was the best filet each of us has EVER had! New Deacon's ages their meat on-site (you can even see the aging room from behind a glass wall) and you can taste the difference. Expertly prepared, even the filet ordered medium-well was tender, juicy and absolutely melt in your mouth delicious. For dessert we diversified and ordered flourless chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream and peanut butter ice cream. Every bite was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend. Strong attention to detail and COVID conscious for a safe dining experience. We live 9 hours from Nashville but the next time we want a good steak, we'll strongly consider a trip back just to have New Deacon's filet.
Delicious food, excellent service. Loved the mac and cheese!
