The service was awful. Waited 40 minutes to get a drink. Waited another 45 for our dinners. Most of the food was good, steak frites were very salty. Wouldn’t return.

Setting, ambiance, and service were very good. Unfortunately, the food was uneven. Two dishes were good, but a third was poor. Our server offered to take it off the check without prompting, which was a very generous offer. I hope they can develop a more robust and solid menu to go along with the rest of the experience.

The servers, especially Wendy, were very good, and this review is not reflective of their effort - they deserve raises for how attentive they were. The issue we took with our dinner was that this was billed as fine dining and the quality of ingredients didn't match. I ordered the filet and at $50+, I expect the filet to be of a decent quality. The beef itself was not flavorful and had a bit of gristle; it was cooked to a good medium rare as ordered (so that was also not the issue), but it was not tender at all - I've never had chewy filet before, it was disappointing. We felt very unsatisfied with what we paid vs what was received.

Made a reservation for Father’s Day brunch. Nice courtyard atmosphere, greeted by friendly hostess and seated quickly. Wait staff was slow to arrive, and it took a long time to get our drinks from the bar. We shared a breakfast burrito which was huge & delicious, and also shared a side of fruit. When server brought the food to the table, a few strawberries fell out of the fruit bowl and onto the floor. Server didn’t replace them for us, and nobody cleaned them up… they were still on the floor when we left. Overall, friendly but kind of slow service. Great atmosphere & good food.

The honey-chipotle grilled shrimp starter is one of the most beautifully and deliciously composed dishes I have had in a long time. The baked goat cheese and prosciutto with jam and nuts on crostini is a perfect combination of flavors and textures. We appreciated the suggestions from our lovely waitress Wendy and enjoyed meeting Cristina Martinez, a truly talented young chef. Can't wait to return!

The prices charged are not proportional to the service and quality. First, they need to close the musty greenroom patio dining and serve guests in their formal dining room. Second, when I opened up my silverware from the rolled napkin, my fork was dirty. Then we were asked to save our forks after we ate our salads in order to re-use for our entrees. Our food was good, but nothing to write about. Our water was slow to be refilled. We spent close to $200 for a burger, 2 salads and a trout entree with a couple of drinks. Don’t expect free refills on sodas. We were charged $4 twice for flat Diet Coke. For the prices paid, one would expect a four-star experience. Instead it was poor ambiance with poor service. We will not be going back.

Huge delays out of the kitchen for both appetizers and entree. It took 2 hours to complete dinner. During long wait for the appetizer I asked for some bread. Later found out we were charged $4 for two store bought rolls. Entrees finally served and my rice was undercooked (raw). I asked for new rice. It never came. I asked for to speak to the manager, and she had attitude. After I asked if undercooked rice was acceptable, she replied, “what do you want, some type of discount?” When the check was brought, it included a 35% surcharge. I asked the waiter what that was, and he said they accidentally added a charge instead of applying a discount. If you want a 4 star dining experience, go to Lambert’s - which is were I went the following day, and skip this place. Nice resort, but terribly managed restaurant.

We read in previous reviews the waitstaff and service was substandard. Our most recent experience was quite the opposite. The friendly hostess seated us promptly. The service was prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable. We were quite pleased with the quality of the food and our dining experience as a whole. We will return to the restaurant in particular the next time we are in Taos.

Appetizer got to use before our drink from the bar and was ordered wrong from waitress. 5 mines after we got our app our entrees came out. Waters not refilled and was not given a chance reorder anything. As che k was dropped off with a dessert menu? Will not return ever as it was a train wreck from start to finish

Because of the pandemic, De La Tierra, like many restaurants, is struggling to maintain enough staff. The staff and the service at the resort were outstanding. However, the food was very limited in choice and flavor. Nothing I wanted to eat, after reviewing the menu online, was available. I was also disappointed that the chiles rellano were made with poblano peppers instead of Anaheim Big Jims which were specifically bred by NMSU Chile Pepper Institute for chiles rellano. Poblanos are Mexican food. Big Jims are New Mexican. I recommend staying at El Monte Sagrado. I do not recommend eating at De La Tierra.

This restaurant does not have air conditioning and is effectively in a greenhouse. It was about 88 degrees during our meal and humid. While the food was good, we felt so hot and so sick we could not finish it. Well over $100 for two. In short, this restaurant should be closed.

We were sat at 7:55 PM for our 8PM reservation. It's the earliest reservation they had available that day so I assumed it would be busy, but there were about 6 tables being served at the time, plus the bar. We waited approximately 10-15 minutes for a server to greet us and take a drink order, then once our order for food and drinks was placed (we had enough time to decide while waiting for service) we sat for about another half hour before our server asked us for our order a second time because the computer had not been working in the back. She graciously apologized and comped 2 of our items. We had ordered a beer the first time and repeated the order including the beer in that second iteration of the order. Not even the drinks had arrived at the table by 8:51 so at 8:53PM we made the decision to walk out of a restaurant for the first time in our lives. The service was abysmal, especially considering the price point of $20-50 per entree. We came prepared to indulge and have a nice meal but left hungry an hour after being seated. We found a gorgeous lounge nearby to have a light snack and drink before eating cheeseburgers from the McDonald's drive thru to ensure my spouse did not go to bed hungry. Hopefully this restaurant can maintain a higher standard to match the price point and ambiance of the hotel it is in.

Really sad experience as a Taos local. Service was marginal and very limited menu. The drinks were excellent and the only positive aspect of the dinner. The bill was also excessive so be prepared for sticker shock. Lastly, this was such a bad experience that I left a voice mail with the general manager and have not yet been contacted. I wanted to discuss these issues with him before leaving a review.

This place was recommended by a frequent Taos visitor. Our steak was excellent. I usually don't like sauce on a steak, but in this case it made the steak special. It was a bit strange in that we had the whole place to ourselves. But our waiter was friendly and visited with us just enough to add to the ambience.

$44. For a 10 oz NY Strip Steak take it off the menu if you can't cook it or don't really want too but there is no beef steak that is worth $44. That is an insult. After all it was not even advertised as Black Angus. Bad form.

The menu here has changed recently—it is not the one available on TripAdvisor—becoming much more limited than in previous incarnations. The food we ate was akin to that found in steerage class of an airline. The New York strip was overcooked and drowning in a barely edible barbecue sauce, while the tuna bites were overcooked and tiny. In addition, the piano player was extremely loud; diners made almost comical attempts to speak over the din. Snacks ordered at the bar had been previously frozen. Many better dining options are available in Taos.

Based on past experiences we would overwhelmingly recommend friends. But this past stay was not so great. Champagne and truffles ordered in advance wasn't there. We had to ask for it. The valentine's dinner was awful we both had stomach problems the next day. For the price I expected better. Housekeeping should change the mattress in the Indian room, I slept in what felt like a hole. When asked to service the room housekeeping did a less than professional job by not replacing robes and cups and not removing trash. We felt we'd interrupted them by asking. On a positive note all of the valet and reception staff were amazing. Kent and the guys were very welcoming and accommodating. Ms. Delores and Cameron were both exceptional. We enjoyed their company.

The food was not what was expected. Some dishes were very small and many in our group were disappointed by the portion size. I received many mussels on my plate which did not open during the cooking process which made me a bit nervous. I did not eat those. There were several large groups there at the same time including us (8) and service was a bit rushed. It is a beautiful restaurant and hotel but our overall experience for dinner was disappointing. We ate breakfast there several times and everything was very good.
