Food was really great! There was a mix up with my food but it was quickly taken care of. I will be coming back!!
Family vacations
The menu here has changed recently—it is not the one available on TripAdvisor—becoming much more limited than in previous incarnations. The food we ate was akin to that found in steerage class of an airline. The New York strip was overcooked and drowning in a barely edible barbecue sauce, while the tuna bites were overcooked and tiny. In addition, the piano player was extremely loud; diners made almost comical attempts to speak over the din. Snacks ordered at the bar had been previously frozen. Many better dining options are available in Taos.
Based on past experiences we would overwhelmingly recommend friends. But this past stay was not so great.
Champagne and truffles ordered in advance wasn't there. We had to ask for it. The valentine's dinner was awful we both had stomach problems the next day. For the price I expected better.
Housekeeping should change the mattress in the Indian room, I slept in what felt like a hole. When asked to service the room housekeeping did a less than professional job by not replacing robes and cups and not removing trash. We felt we'd interrupted them by asking.
On a positive note all of the valet and reception staff were amazing. Kent and the guys were very welcoming and accommodating. Ms. Delores and Cameron were both exceptional. We enjoyed their company.
The food was not what was expected. Some dishes were very small and many in our group were disappointed by the portion size. I received many mussels on my plate which did not open during the cooking process which made me a bit nervous. I did not eat those. There were several large groups there at the same time including us (8) and service was a bit rushed. It is a beautiful restaurant and hotel but our overall experience for dinner was disappointing. We ate breakfast there several times and everything was very good.
Restaurant connected to hotel. Nothing amazing to write about. We actually preferred the food that was part of their bar the Anaconda.
There isn’t much to chose from in the area so you are limited.
For the cost, the food was not that good. The ambiance was great and the piano player was good. The place is gorgeous.
The buffet was all right, but uneven. Beef, shrimp and salmon were fine; mac and cheese was terrible, green beans were good, brussels sprouts both charred and practically raw. Cheese tray was cubes of pretty generic super market cheese. For the money, it needed to be better, and more consistent. The piano player was so loud that it wasn't possible to have a conversation. At one point, the lid of the piano was closed, so he banged harder. (he wasn't bad, but seemed to think he was playing a concert, not background music for dinner). We had been there for XMas dinner the previous year, and had a good experience, so we went back this year. We won't be doing that again.
We live in Taos on the northside, and have eaten there every few months during an event. The dining room is very outdated. The prices are excessive for what you get. The food style has no character compared to other Taos restaurants. It may be fine if staying in the hotel, but not worth a drive into town.
Absolutely awful! We had reservations for Thanksgiving at 4 PM. When I made them and they called to confirm they assured me that even since this was the last seating the food would be fresh and we would not be rushed. The food was terrible it was a buffet and there was no fresh food presented it had been there for hours. The pumpkin pie was store bought as it was in the aluminum pie pans and the truffles were not homemade either as we were told. The turkey was not fresh carved it was a processed turkey breast which when sliced each piece was 1/2 white meat and 1/2 dark meat, something that you would buy to make sandwiches from. The music stopped right at 4 and when asked to order a bottle of wine for our meal it took 25 mins to just receive the wine. The table was a fold up rectangular table with a cloth and a plastic pumpkin on top....there were 3 in our party. Very awkward.
I am beyond disappointed as we are part time residents of Taos and when you dine at a restaurant at a resort of this caliber you should expect more. There was no pride in the meal....
The food was excellent, however pretty expensive. All and all, I would definitely go back because of the quality of food and the service in the restaurant/hotel. They were beyond pleasant and really seemed to care. Very unussual in today's world.
Amazing Thanksgiving dinner!
It's pretty simple - great food, great waitstaff, piano music - modern and enjoyable.
Beautiful Brunch at El Monte Sagrado. Recommend the Lobster Benedict. Beautiful dining room, and wonderful service. Manager Hunter Bienvenue was wonderful and welcoming.
From the food to the service I was delighted. I never needed to leave the property to enjoy the best Taos has to offer. I will defiantly be back again.
Our dinner was AMAZING. Staff were personable and professional. Big improvements from our last time dining there a year ago. Kudos to the new Manager and Chef, to whom we met both! We will be back!
Great meal, a special meal prepared vegan. Then, we met and commended the chef. I ordered thai wraps that were served without the peanut sauce. When i asked for the peanut sauce, it was way too spicy. Our waiter Cameron was exceptional and a delight.
Failed to receive my salad. When finally got the attention of the waitress, she had no recollection of me ordering it. Entree was very well prepared, just disappointed the wait was so long. Restaurant barely half full
Amazing experience here with friends. Dina our server took excellent care of us and had great recommendations for food and drink. Chef Cristina has done a superb job with the menus there. We recommend choosing items off of the Gardens menu and the De La Tierra menu. We will definitely be back!
We had dinner at De La Terra on Labor Day before the Sting Concert. The food was delicious and our waiter was so helpful. Now we have a beautiful resort to stay in on our next trip to Taos.
Cameron was our server two times and he was helpful, personable and is an asset to your team!
We shared with our visitors a wonderful, delicious leisurely brunch followed by a walk around the 3rd floor to look at an art exhibit and the nice conference rooms there. Afterwards, we walked in the park-like area with ponds and beautiful trees and other plants, and sat for awhile on benches to talk and enjoy the lovely peacefulness. The rest of town was very crowded for a music event being held in a nearby venue, so we thoroughly enjoyed our uncrowded time at El Monte Sagrado. Staff and servers were all gracious, engaging and professional. We have been coming to El Monte Sagrado for many years, and it is an especially nice place to entertain out-of-town guests.
I have eaten here pretty much since it began around 2004. Sometimes it has been OK and others a bit iffy. I haven’t been in several years because of this. I heard of the exec chef had been replaced and things had improved so I decided to come back. I’m glad I did because they have really stepped up their game. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and great service. I know the locals have never liked the place very much and most nights look pretty slow. If they maintain their current effort I think they will be rewarded (Taos is slow to catch on). The wine list could stand some improvement but overall I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Amazing food! Top notch service. Great ambiance
Good food, good service, good atmosphere. The ricotta was great. I had the duck, which was cooked perfectly. My wife had the veal. We will be going back
A bartender recommended the sake salmon and it was delicious! Would definitely go back to this restaurant. So convenient that it is located in El Monte Sagrado Hotel.
Very well maintained and scenic grounds. The resort reflected the beauty of the landscape. The food was excellent. We were provided with complimentary champagne and desserts with our meal to celebrate our birthdays. Our check in to the restaurant was superb and our server Jace was a delight. We will be back next year
Visited on a Monday evening when main/ upscale dining room closed, to our surprise. The Anaconda Room has a casual menu. My Bison enchiladas were delicious and my companions burger were fine. My knock on the meal is service. I order a salad with dressing on the side and it came on the salad. The salad did not arrive so I asked the server about the delay. If I had not asked it would have come simultaneous with the main meal as if that was the norm. Post my asking the salad was immediately delivered.
Space for the brunch was beautiful! And service was excellent. However, coffee was cold and buffet had no fresh fruit. Maybe chocolate dip strawberries or something similar would have been nice on dessert.
Ordered bison short ribs. Served cool and tough not tender. Suspect it was not cooked correctly. Service best described as non attentive. Had to hail the waiter for every need. To be fair my wife’s food was good she had trout, very tasty.
I had the Brussels sprouts and lobster pot pie. Both were delicious! The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. We loved our stay at this very relaxing resort. We highly recommend it!
Excellent, tasty food, with good and healthy choice. Portions absurdly big. Simply not healthy, and if you stay in a hotel you don’t want to take tomorrow’s dinner home in a box! One let down: whiskey salmon small plate had almost no salmon. Nice environment but chairs are so big they are hard to manoeuvre. Excellent food is best reason to go to this restaurant.
Did not offer much in terms of vegetarian options, didn’t have anything available for a vegan and did not offer to have the chef prepare something for our vegan diner. Otherwise a nice meal
By far the best dining experience of our visit. Prime rib was cooked perfectly. Ziti was excellent, as were the sides of haricot verts, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf and roasted potatoes. The champagne vinaigrette for the salad was amazing. The ambiance was lovely with a harpist in the room. But the dessert table stole the show. Petit fours, amazing cheesecake, cupcakes, pecan pie, you name it and by all accounts everything was perfect. Much better than the Christmas Eve dinner which can easily be bypassed in favor of this meal. And the service was bar none.
Had a great experience Thanksgiving buffet-When asked, I was assured that there would be a Christmas noon Buffet, so I went on line made an open table reservation for 11:30 AM. Upon arrival , no buffet, still serving breakfast . Our son was visiting from Mexico, so what does one do, where else in Taos would we go since we are from Texas and do not know the restaurants. So we were seated and the menu selection for Christmas dinner was horrible...With tip 130.00 dollars down the drain and I certainly did not need a reservation since there were many "open Tables"
The Christmas Eve Prix Fix menu has multiple options, but was not well executed. Carrot appetizer tasted of faux smoke seasoning. Olive appetizer was better. The possible needed salt and was missing something, namely the pork and chiles. The beef tenderloin tasted as if it was grilled with the reduction sauce that rendered the char tasting like ash. The flourless chocolate cake was ok. The fruit compote was the best part. Bypass the Christmas Eve dinner but don’t miss the Christmas Day buffet which I review separately and give 5 stars.
We had originally booked at another hotel in Taos. After coming here to eat, the atmosphere was so peaceful and glorious we went back to the hotel, packed up our bags and checked for a fabulous four nite stay! The food is delicious but be prepared to get I to the slow pace of Taos. Service is relaxed so slow down and enjoy. Love love love this hotel and all the meaningful values it promotes.
Good for pretentious setting, super-nice staff. The dining is only so-so.
Wonderful dining experience!!!
