From walking through the door to our departure, staff was uniformly friendly and efficient. Also patient while we decided between the restaurant week menu and their regular one. My mojito was one of the best prepared ones I’ve had. Our various starters, escargots, salad were nice sized and delicious. So we’re the main courses, mussels for me and halibut for the spouse. Rarely do you go an entire meal with everyone being satisfied with everything but we did. A lovely dining experience!

Decent business lunch spot. Check-in was a little chaotic despite a reservation, and our party of two was placed a bit awkwardly at a corner bank head set for 4 (so we had to sit either uncomfortably close or a bit too far from each other for business chat).

Once situated, service was prompt and the food was good - a little pricey but not terribly so for the upscale area.

Waiter was good - right amount of attention/communication.

I'd go back.

Good food excellent service

A cold evening calls for warm foods. The celeriac apple soup was perfect
The cod and orachetti were also well done. Tart was ok
Courteous service

Fantastic food, excellent service, reasonable prices. The location is great, the service is knowledgeable and overall very good, but let's talk about the food. The foie gras was perfectly seared, (non gavage btw) and served with just the right modifiers - some sweetness in the sauce, acidity from the fruit, etc. It wasn't overly oily and tasted amazing. The Boudin (if you haven't had it, you should) was perfectly cooked, which is a challenge with this kind of Cajun sausage. If you haven't had Boudin before, you should come here strictly to eat that. My girlfriend had two apps for her meal, the escargot (standard, well cooked) and the crabcakes(lots of crabmeat, four small cakes, and a delicious coleslaw to go with it). For dessert the soufflé was perfectly cooked and my girl loved the presentation.

As for drinks...I don't drink alcohol anymore, but my girl said the drinks were great and really that's what matters.

I definitely plan to come back again!

The food was good but not memorable (I loved the beignets). In particular, I was disappointed by the 25$ Cobb salad which is basically a huge bowl of lettuce with unmemorable extras...

Service was very good.

The food wasn’t the worst I’ve had, but it wasn’t good either. Bland. I got the burger and fries. The burger was done medium and was tough and chewy and had no flavor. The fries weren’t even fresh cut fries. They came out of a bag, frozen. And they were overdone. The drinks were weak. I wouldn’t go back. My friend got the salmon. He said the same. Not a lot of flavor. Not worth what you’re spending at all. Save your money. There are other better place in City Center!

Service was fair but slow. The lobster roll was adequate. Drinks were good. Ordered dessert, the caramel sauce was burnt, tasted awful. This was a birthday celebration and I FAILED in choosing this place.

We enjoyed our interesting and quite unique appetizers. We had a spicy Thai sausage combination. We also had roasted carrots with greens and a sumac yogurt dressing. Our mains were tasty including scallops with cauliflower and a chicken with spaetzle. We would not hesitate to order those dishes another time! The cake with blood oranges was delicious but a little small.

Daniel does not disappoint. His vision is properly passed down to his staff and they execute properly. It’s very impressive. We ordered the roast chicken for two- a nicely orchestrated service with the presentation of the chicken in a small copper pot to quick off table plating with an outstanding gravy with onion and mushrooms and more....The waiter says it is his grandmother’s recipe. They plated thigh and leg first...The sommelier really saved the day with a nice French Chablis to satisfy our need for a non-oaky Chardonnay. Nice setting and quiet.

The service was unbeatable. The staff was attentive without being "in your face". The food was delicious and presented appropriately. The portion size was too small. An entre of scallops with cauliflower consisted of three scallops and four florets. This is not dinner -- especially at the price.

What a delightful surprise! We wanted to celebrate my husbands birthday and then go to the hockey game. I wanted a casual yet special place, and we found it. The service was perfect and friendly. We even got a surprise birthday dessert. The food was great. It’s a warm and welcoming place. We will be back.

I’m a wine professional and chef so it’s near impossible to surprise me or exceed my expectations. The restaurant did both, I was actually able to relax and let the chef and somm do the driving. The wines were eclectic but perfectly selected and the food far exceeded anything else DC is doing. This is my number 2 choice after the Inn at Little Washington. On second thought - don’t go, I don’t want you to ruin it.

Saw the reviews and thought I would take a friend from out of town. Order beignets and were told after we submitted the order that they didn’t have anymore. Oh by the way we don’t have the Thai sausage and we don’t have French toast. Quite surprised that they ran out of menu items for their brunch which is all they served that day. Quite disappointing.

Really great food, but the service by our server was less than optimal. He was slow and not responsive to the group. Limitless drinks results in only 2 drinks over the whole brunch because the service was so inattentive. The food was great and the restaurant is really nice but there are hundreds of restaurants in DC that offer this. The true discriminator in this kind of market is the service and that is where DBGB falls short.

Met friends from out of town for dinner. We all got different things (Maryland blue crab spaghettini, Atlantic salmon, day boat scallops). We each enjoyed what we ordered very much. Dessert was delicious, recommend the tarte aux pommes. I was not particularly thrilled with where we were seated, on lower level behind the wait staff station (a lot of activity behind me) and tables felt a bit cramped in that small area. Our waiter was friendly but not intrusive. I would recommend this place to others.
