My friend and I decided to have brunch there and food, service and atmosphere was amazing! I will recommend Davis St. to everyone I know. I will definitely be returning!
Great food. Great portions. Good service. Descent cheap wine bottles list.
Delicious food, friendly and excellent staff, overall a classy place. The chef personally came out to deliver our food, which was very much appreciated! The only thing I found to be a little off was the ambiance of the restaurant - while clean and modern, it's not what I would envision for a fancy restaurant.
This evening was not extremely busy. From start to finish 3 hours without desserts.
Service was not fabulous and drink orders often came with melting ice. Not good for a craft cocktail.
Sorry to have had this experience, for I really enjoyed Holley’s when it was open. Will not return for another try, too expensive for the experience we encountered.
The food was delicious. Each course was served piping hot! We loved everything we ordered.
Today was my birthday and the staff definitely made it one to remember! It always a pleasure dining here!
Fabulous food and great jazz on Wednesday night. Highly recommend the rolls and oysters!!
It's great that Mark Holley has found a new venue to plie his trade. He is one of Houston's most talented chef/owners. Mark came out to personally welcome us to his new digs and took care of us throughout the evening. It was a Sunday evening and fried chicken was the featured fare - Mark's specialty - and Mark was doing the chicken himself - superb. We had some great appetizers and everyone had food left over. Fairly stark atmosphere, and sometimes the service was slow, but overall a great experience.
Sunday brunch with the family! Everything was absolutely fabulous. It has become one of our favorite restaurants.
I've been wanting to try Davis St. since it's reopening. I made a reservation on line which showed the earliest time available was 8:15 when looking on Thursday. I booked the 8:15 but upon arrival there were plenty of tables available. Once seated it took our server 15 mins. to bring us a glass of wine and the food was just ok. I had the Mahi with orzo pasta. The pasta did not have any flavor so I had to ask for salt and pepper which is not on tables, which also took a while to receive. Overall, it is a nice restaurant, ambience is nice. It just needs fine tuning.
Made a reservation. Seated us and when we asked for happy hour menu, told us we couldn’t eat at the table, had to go to the bar. Restaurant was empty, lots of staff but not much work going on. Chef was very nice and food was good. Drinks filled to slopping over - too watered down with ice to taste any alcohol. Won’t go back.
Loved it! Will return....slightly pricey though. Hate the restrooms. Love the food.
Fantastic food and service.
Sunday supper - limited menu but everything we tried was delicious. Especially the roasted brussel sprout, caramelized veggies and coconut cake. Huge portions - enough for lovely leftover meal the next day. Great soundtrack quietly playing on the background. Attentive service. Friendly chef. We will return
The restaurant is a nice addition to the neighborhood. The food is good and they are working hard to continue improving service and a consistent experience for customers. Definitely worth a try
Excellent, creative food and knowledgeable waitstaff. Very impressed by the quality of the wines “on tap”. Only kink that needs a little ironing is the time to get a cocktail once ordered.
Greeted at the door by friendly staff, excellent service, great wine choices and an exceptional dinner. We love this place.
Wonderful to have Executive Chef Holley return to the restaurant scene. His creative food approaches and passion for seafood preparation in particular is unlike any other!
We had a wonderful waitress named Sarah. She knew the menu, made excellent recommendations and very personable.
There were just a few things that need improvement but overall everything was very good! They made us a lemonade and it was lemon water. We were looking for a little sweetener. The signature biscuits were not hot but they were good once we heated them up at home. The bathroom only had one soap dispenser that was working. And lastly please use the handicap parking for the handicap. I had to valet because the parking was used for general parking.
Love, love, love Mark Hillary’s new restaurant. He has all his old great recipes plus some delicious new ones.
We have always loved Chef Holley’s food and are delighted that he has returned to the Houston restaurant scene. His new space is spectacular, the food is better than ever and the service was impeccable. Best of all the diners appeared to feel at home giving off a feeling of community - plus it is always nice to have the chef greet you personally— his hands-on approach is what makes his restaurants special.
We will be going back again and again.
Chef Holley has continued his excellent mastery at this new location.
Location is a bit out of the way and parking is Valet but not well signposted.
Saturday night was busy, service quite slow and a couple of dishes unavailable at a 7.45 reservation, but the quality of what we did have was excellent.
Busy but noise level was fine!
Food was fabulous. Every dish was delicious. Great ambience. Service needs some tweaking but I’m sure that will fall into line in a few months.
Food was not great. I got the chef’s classic and all I could taste was salt. Waiter forgot to put in our order of benne rolls, so we didn’t get any. Took forever for our wine to arrive and the place was only half full.
We won’t be going back.
Far and away the best service I’ve seen in years. Food was similarly great. A real find
Awesome overall! Great staff and the food is amazing!
We were regulars at Holleys and Davis St didn’t disappoint! Actually, we prefer the new look and ambience of Davis St so thats a real plus. The live music was a nice touch and the volume was perfect for conversation. We’re thrilled with Davis St.
RACISM AMONG YOUR OWN KIND! I was discriminated against by the black male bartender because I am a black female who came to this restaurant with my white male fiance! MIXED COUPLES BEWARE
After viewing the drink menu, I politely called the bartender to order. He looked at me without saying anything a preceded to make my drink. It took him 12 min to grab 1 glass, ice, and the 4 beverages needed to make my drink. Mind you, the restaurant is damn near EMPTY! Meanwhile, this man is looking at me with the look of death in between grabbing each item at a snail's pace. After he collected MOST of the items, he abandons making my drink altogether and disappears into the kitchen. He comes out exactly 4 minutes later with a cucumber (its the garnish for this cocktail). He proceeds to peel the cucumber. He then AGAIN abandons making my drink altogether and goes to the other side of the bar to carry on a lively conversation with a party of 3 black patrons who came together. Meanwhile, my fiance and I are looking at each other in complete disbelief!
I purposely told my fiance not to say anything because I wanted to watch this scenario unfold. He carried on a 3 minute conversation with the party of 3 while my fiance and I sat and stared at my abandoned drink/supplies. We are literally looking at my ice melt because when he abandoned my drink, he left the glass and the supplies right in front of us within arms reach. He wanted to make sure we knew, that he knew, he didn't like my choice of men! He finally comes back to my glass, shakes my ice, and then pours in the Topo juice and slides me the drink. I kindly said "thank you" He just turned his head. At this point, my fiance suggested we just leave. I told him no because I wanted to honor our reservation. We then tipped the bartender. I said "thank you" as my fiance handed him a generous tip...then guess what he says??? He then says under his breath without even looking at me "thank you [PAUSE] then says "your welcome". WOW!
If you're looking for a fresh complete dining experience because food is supposed to be experienced look no further than Chef Holley and Davis street best cooking I have ever tasted
Very nice restaurant staff and great food by the chef!
The food and ambience was wonderful
Great Food, Great evening. Looked and tasted fantastic. Not sure what was better, the cake or the entree or the appetiser.
Everything (especially the food !!) was AMAZING 👏🏽
Everything was excellent. Food and presentation were well above expectations.
Fabulous
Love chef Holleys menu
Very pleasant atmosphere with great food and a nice wine list. Service was mostly good. Live music on Wednesday night was also very enjoyable. There was only one valet parking attendant, so that was a bit slow.
Food was AMAZING!!! My wife and I shared the Thai snapper. Best fish I have ever had!!! Other guests had the Cornish Hen and grouper - both rated as outstanding.
The night we were there the service could have been better. The bartender just couldn’t put a “splash” of cranberry in my wife’s drink - it was mostly cranberry, not soda, twice. And we had to wait a very long time for our first course. The manager got involved and the rest of the meal came out as expected.
And oh by the way, the rolls to start the dinner were do die for!!!
Perfect in every way
GREAT Food...the ambience is delightful!
