Davio's - Irvine
Poor service and mediocre food. Servers brought us our main dishes, told us they would come back with our silverware which took them about 7 minutes ( I had to remind the server for them to bring the silverware) and while we waited, our food turned cold. Instead of the servers removing our finished appetizer plates that was in front of us, they would bring the main entree and wait for us to move the finished dishes to the side. All other steakhouses remove those dishes before bringing the next plate to the table. You can go to the Mastro's Steakhouse, pay the same amount you would at Davio's but receive much better service and quality of food.
Great appetizers, main dishes good, great service. Pasta dishes were not as good for the price. Probably would not return based on value f($250 for 2 of us) for overall food taste.
Horrible ambiance in the patio for Valentine’s Day. To management: if you’re going to open up patio seating for A special day like Valentines Day - please put some effort into it. Just sticking people in a dark patio with food court like ambiance is way below expectations.
Food was exceptional. Service was good, but staff kept touching our chairs as the walk by. Weird.
Great place, but service needs to be much more attentive. Top restaurants ensure that servers and backups are invisibly hovering at all times. You should never ever have to look around to get someone to provide more water or tea.
I've been here several times now and it is consistently good. This event was a business meeting. The noise level was acceptable. The cocktails are spot on and the food not only tastes great but they are generous portions.
A luncheon for a significant birthday was handled nicely with the private, round room available to us where we felt welcome to stay at our leisure.
Our threesome enjoyed the, Rib eye, Filet and the scallops. Everything was cooked exactly to order and tasted delicious. Our server recommended a fine blended red which paired great with our steaks. We finished off our wonderful evening with a chocolate desert cake. A great high end restaurant with very moderate pricing. If you like fine dining, give Davio's a try.
Food was good, service was appropriate.
Food and service was excellent
I had the Bolognese pasta - it was AMAZING!! Best I have ever had!!
Let's start with parking, Valet is $7 but there is a public lot that requires a ticket. Not until you get into the restaurant is there any information that the restaurant will validate self-parking. Hence my decision to use the Valet. I still find it offensive that a $$$ restaurant charges for Valet parking.
Our server, Bree, was terrific. Unfortunately, the kitchen had some issues. First, my Crispy Chicken Liver appetizer was not even close to crispy. I loved the flavor, but the lack of crispness was disappointing.
Second, the 2 meat dishes delivered to our table were both overcooked in relation to how they were ordered. They took them back to replace them and offered us something to munch on while we waited, so that was good service. My side dish of horseradish creamy potatoes came out cool, but even these didn't come with the original delivery of my entree, I had to remind the server, who brought them promptly after the replacement order arrived.
Third, the pasta was slightly overcooked for a $$$ restaurant. Pasta should be Al Dente unless requested otherwise.
Fourth, the fruit/cannoli dessert was odd. The fruit was syrupy and the cannoli's were soft, not crunchy. The management gave us 2 desserts on them due to the issues with the meat dishes so at least we didn't pay for them.
Overall, Davio's is not recommended, particularly at this cost. We'd rather go to the Capital Grille where our meals are always perfect.
Overall good, but not a great value for the money.
Great food and an excellent variety of selections. The popovers are delicious! Attentive service and having the person in charge coming around and asking how we are enjoying the food is a very nice and professional touch.
Excellent birthday dinner for a friend. Food was great - the best polenta I've ever had! But towards the end our server was nowhere to be found. We've had the same experience at many other high end restaurants and it's always a frustrating way to end a nice evening. For most of the meal our server was excellent though so I don't want to make it sound like the service was not good.
Great dining experience
We had dinner there from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, there’s a party (around 20 guests) in the restaurant before us. It’s little noisy. I would suggest if the restaurant can arrange party with a little distance from other customers.
Always the best place to grab a good business lunch. Top notch service, attention to detail and food made to absolute perfection!
I picked Davio's as a new restaurant for the family to try on New Years. The lobster risotto I ordered was a little too heavy on the wine and the spaghettini appetizer was served somewhere between undercooked and al dente. On the plus side, my mother's wagyu was amazingly tender and delicious and both of my brothers seemed to enjoy their dishes, pork chop and beef wellington (their special that day) respectively. A nice touch they had was bringing out a cart with physical models of each of their desserts.
Overall, food was neither bad nor memorably outstanding for an Italian steakhouse, but the service was impeccable. We never had to ask for our waters to be refilled and our server Scott was very attentive and actively engaged in helping us first-timers understand the menu. Due to a slight miscommunication, one of my brothers expected a macaroni side to come with his pork chops. As it wasn't charged on our bill (and we were quite full from the rest of the food), it was "no harm, no foul". But Scott did make sure to apologize for the miscommunication which personally raised a lot of my respect for Davio's service.
Given the chance, I may return to try the ribeye and for the excellent service.
I really was very disappointed about this. I am from Boston and was so happy to see Davios in Irvine. I went with my girlfriend for NYE and the food was ok but nothing like Boston. The service was so off. He was very nice and I nice guy. But the table maintenance was horrible. I ordered a bottle of Drew Bledsoe’s double back cab for 225.00. And he through out the bottle and I wanted to keep it. He also asked my girlfriend if we wanted our food to go and we said yes and he also through that out. After spending 500.00 for 2 people I feel very upset by this experience. I was going to call the restaurant after. But everything goes to voicemail. Nobody answers the phone.
Good food and our waiter was awesome.
We really enjoyed the food, service, and the ambience. Love the pop over which was served warm and baked to perfection. Seafood plate from the raw bar was excellent with beautiful presentation and a variety of sauce flavor to each seafood. The veal and the sauce go so well together. We had a fantastic dining experience at Davio’s for our New Year eve dinner. One suggestion is for the music. Nice Italian music will go well.
New Year’s Eve dinner.
Too expensive for the food level. Steak was cooked to much and burned too black.
Excellent well prepared and presented food in an elegant warm environment. Service was personal and prompt and the food exceeded all of our expectations. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic food, with a nice variety of menu selections. Service was great too, and we really enjoyed the entire experience.
We went for Christmas eve dinner for the Feast of Seven Fishes menu. It was wonderful!
2nd year in a row for a Christmas Eve Reservation/Dinner. Same 7 guests. Last year’s service was only slightly more efficient. For a $500 visit, my guests received Denny’s level service. Pecan crusted Salmon undercooked (mushy), one individual had veal shank, wrong temperature. Iced Tea delivered to late into the meal after request. Service staff appeared unprepared and overwhelmed. Will look elsewhere for next year’s event.
Waited one half hour for our reservation upon arrival. Service was very slow. Saw our waitress only occasionally and had to call her. Some entrees were good while the the 10 ounce filet was not tender. Popovers were a hit again like last year. Christmas ambiance was just OK. Noise level was high near our table. Not sure if we’ll go back again next year for Christmas Eve dinner.
This was my first time to Davio's and the food was great, the staff was fantastic!! Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend it.
Service was sorely lacking after having read numerous reviews about their service. The bartender seemed to be our server, but once he got busy - well - very little follow up with each course. Started with the tomato soup which was lukewarm at best and really, cold around the edges. The halibut was very nice, but the risotto bed was again, lukewarm and almost cold. Only one cocktail and they could have easily sold another one or a glass of wine. Needless to say, not worth the money and will not return.
The food was great other than the arrugula salad
$11 for arrugula dumped on a plate with a few shavings of mozzarella cheese
Excellent food and service. 2nd time there and will return.
Have been here a few times, usually outstanding food. This time it was okay not great. My biggest disappointment was the $35 corkage fee. This is about the highest I have experienced. Looks like I will be taking my business somewhere else, to bad.
Overpriced. Two salads, 1 soup, 2 non-alcoholic beverages + tip totaled over $100.
Food mediocre, so loud as to be almost impossible to conduct conversation.
We went to Davios on a Monday night for our anniversary. We valet parked and it was easy and right in front of the restaurant. We sat at a table right in front of the kitchen. Davios has a vast menu with lots of gluten free options which my husband requires due to his allergy. We started with an appetizer and we both had salads (cobb and beet). Both were loved and the portion was very large. For entree we had the veal and porkchop, again, portions very large and some sides were included. We didnt need to order any extra sides. The meal was perfect with taste and presentation. We had a pana cotta for dessert that was also perfection. We were very happy with the service and value of this meal and will be back.
We go out for a Christmas dinner with another couple each year. We decided to try somewhere new for us. It was sad. Empty. The food was a joke. Instead of going on and on...we will go back to our regular spots like Gulfstream, Farmhouse, Bungalow, Capital Grille....
Very good experience. It was the first time I had dined at Davio’s. Food was excellent. A very enjoyable dinner.
