Tables are a little crowded, my husbands chair touched the next table over. The brussel spout appetizer was delicious. My husband had the special which was a Hake dish. Was just ok. The size of the food was perfect. We didn't leave overstuffed. For the price I would have expected a little more. Drinks were delicious.
Great meal in an awesome atmosphere
David’s388 is our favorite. Food is always excellent. It’s a very comfortable neighborhood bistro. Staff are friendly and provide excellent service. And prices are very reasonable.
Awesome as always !!
Really enjoyed the meal. Linda and the bartender were great.
From the moment we were greeted by the host until we left, thee experience was outstanding. A bit noisy, but not obtrusively so. We had dined at David's 388 another time, and we were not disappointed Saturday evening. We opted for the Maine Restaurant Week specials - a good call. The starters: Roasted Salmon and Corn Cakes; Duck Confit with red onion marmalade were scrumptious. The herb Panko crusted Hake was prepared perfectly, and the Osso Bucco was triple d: drop dead delicious. Topped off with Blueberry Brunch Pudding - a decadent bread pudding based on cinnamon rolls, this was a dinner we won't soon forget.
Intimate, delicious food in a charming neighborhood setting.
Excellent food. Service was a little off. We sat for a while before anyone took our drink order. Server then took food and drink order at same time. Unfortunately, all the outstanding dishes (appetizers, soup, and entrees) came out in rapid succession, barely giving us time to enjoy each. We’ll definitely go back, but ask for a different server.
We did not take the restaurant Week options, as we thought they were not a good value for $45. We chose off the menu and had what we wanted and saved over $10 on our bill.
We think restaurants are offering less quality selections than in previous years and hence there is no benefit to the pricing for Restaurant Week.
Very good! Wine was pricey but good.
Great food and lively setting especially for a winter Monday evening. Highly recommended!
Always a fantastic experience!
Food was excellent and great service.
I loved the neighborhood feel of the place! Great food and great service.
Everything from the reservation process to the waitstaff and food was outstanding. I would highly recommend any of David’s restaurants to anyone
Great space , second time there and great food and service
We had a lovely time and enjoyed being in a neighborhood restaurant.
Never disappoints... great food and service. As a “foodie” this rates as my top pick!
Valentine’s Day
Excellent meal.....great server....even forgot my cc at my table....they called my home before we got back to Scarborough to
make me aware of this....thank you!!
A well kept secret in South Portland. No need to cross the bridge unless you live on the other side. Then it is well worth crossing.
Everything was wonderful!!
Lovely hometown feeling, best burger, and fries, incredible service and connectedness amongst staff and customers. Good range of food choices.
very disappointing....food was way over-priced and flavor was marginal
A group of five of us went to brunch. We had never had brunch there before and everyone ordered dish he/she loved. The food was fresh, unique and flavorful. The ambiance was fine. We found the music to be too loud, but our waitress kindly turned it down when asked. We will be back again and again.
Great brunch menu; I look forward to coming back to try other things. The food was good, drinks just ok. Excellent service and quaint atmosphere.
Food was amazing. Pricey, so not a place you would go everyweek... great for special occasion.
David’s is my favorite and it never disappoint!
Great spot for brunch! Meal was delicious.
Always great food and service. I wish There was better seating than at the bar, but it was a last minute decision.
Perfectly cooked, tasty, nice wine, great service, a true neighborhood darling.
Food was excellent as always. Seating on this occasion was significantly tighter than it had been in all our prior times there.
Great food and service
The food is delicious. Portions are somewhat small. Wish there were more veggies with the dish.
Sit at the chef’s counter! Always a great experience watching them work!
excellent cooking and plating. in fact the menu is so goo that it is hard to choose.
David’s 388 is probably our favorite Portland restaurant. Food is always excellent - 5 star quality but at extremely reasonable bistro prices. Portion sizes are also reasonable - you can actually enjoy appetizer, entree, and dessert without hurting yourself. Staff are not only friendly but they really know their stuff - have mastered the menu, can help with drink or wine suggestions, and can accommodate changes for dietary preferences. An absolute gem!
All the appetizers, entrees and the dessert were exceptional.
Always great
Wonderful come-as-you-are feeling to the place. The bar is small & intimate, & the window tables private but great for people and weather watching. Loved the gin & ginger cocktail. Service was wonderful, always aware without being intrusive.
