Darling’s is a fresh pasta eatery in East London. Overlooking Olympic Park, the eatery is a hidden gem in Fish Island where the industrial and creative spaces converge. Roman Road, Bow, Hackney Wick and Victoria Park are just a stroll away from your weekly treat of freshly made pasta and wine from independent producers.

Egle Loit, a trained pasta chef, has previously popped up mostly around East and North London, creating a buzz with her pre-restaurant residency at Vestry House Museum in 2023.

Founder of Darling’s cares dearly about the craft that fresh pasta making requires. “One can turn humble ingredients into abundance with skill,” shares the restaurateur.

Darling’s is designed to be an open space to be shared between the guests and the team, therefore there are no barriers between the service area and the dining area. You’ll find yourself connecting by enjoying your meal at the shared table. Those, who like to hide away, can still do it at separate tables.

I absolutely loved Darling’s! It’s such a wonderful surprise to find this beautiful little restaurant hidden away in Fish Island in a relatively obscure location. It truly is a hidden gem!! The design is gorgeous from the the flowered, wooden veranda outside to the cool, sleek interiors and open plan kitchen. It’s got a laid back yet stylish feel. I came for dinner and was incredibly impressed with the food. The best focaccia I think I’ve ever had, burrata with honey butter and truffle, mafaldine, gnocchi and a very cheeky tiramisu to finish were highlights for me - but really, everything was delicious and beautifully served. The service was very friendly and attentive, I felt relaxed and well looked after. I don’t drink but they had a really great selection of non alcoholic options for me to enjoy and choose from when many places have a much more limited selection - which was another pleasant surprise! I really can’t recommend this enough. It’s a unique, independent dining experience found in a place you would never expect. Just wonderful - bravo!!

I booked a table for 2 and we were made to eat on a what can best be described as a windowsill. Shoulder to shoulder with a random couple as there were 6 stools at this windowsill the couple to our right were sandwiched between us and another couple. I had a wet jacket due to the rain outside and had to keep the wet jacket on my lap due to the stool we had to sit on having no back. This venue is not fit for purpose and the staff seem to be very nonchalant probably due to the same repeated complaints.

We were really excited to try this place out! Unfortunately we were let down by both the service and the food. We waited 50 minutes for a bottle of wine (told bartender was too busy to open it), given no glasses with our water, one plate between three of us, etc. Our mains arrived over an hour and a half later - I paid £22 for cold and flavourless pasta… On the upside the focaccia we had at the start was really good.

Food was delicious but the service was a bit disappointing as I got charged for a non alcoholic drink when I really wanted a regular beer and one of the waitresses seemed a bit impatient.

We absolutely loved Darling’s! The most delicious burrata, arancini and pasta dishes. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Great atmosphere, definitely the cosy neighbourhood feels but with modern design. Wonderful to be able to watch the chef at work in the open kitchen. This place is a super special hidden gem. Don’t miss it!

The fresh, homemade pasta was amazing. We were only in the area for 2 days, which was a shame as we would have gone back again and again to try everything on the menu. Highly recommended.

The food and drink was mainly great, but there was only one waiter for the whole restaurant and service was very slow as a result. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant wasn't full but it could definitely have done with another waiter or two.
