Well worn and rugged, this neighborhood joint in Minneapolis’ North Loop is warm and comfortable with a genuine sense of hospitality. Guests are welcome to pull up a stool and have a drink at the bar, while classic country, blues and rockabilly music fills the air from a curated jukebox.

A straightforward menu features country-style home cooking, smoked meats that fall off the bone, and the sides you grew up eating at Grandma’s dinner table. Whether you’re looking for a new take on an Old Fashioned or a tall can of Budweiser, they’ve got you covered. But as a whiskey common, more than 200 bottles of American whiskey are proudly stocking the shelves.

The concept of Dalton & Wade was created by five lifelong friends. Their inspiration came from Western Wednesdays, a weekly tradition where the group would get together to make country food, share stories over some bottles of whiskey, and watch old Western films.

Why are they closing?? Was packed and food was great. So were the drinks. Waiter was upset that they were only given three days notice!

The brunch was limited in culinary range. I expected more given how they touted themselves as having a good brunch. Food quality was fine. Fingerling potatoes were good. Brisket was not particularly smoky. Bacon was good. Eggs were fine. Biscuits were good. Stuffed French toast was good. The restaurant should have served more blueberry jam with the biscuits. Good service. It was good, but not stellar or inventive.

Wonderful experience overall. Food & service were incredible. Everything tasted like homemade. Great cocktail options. Beautiful venue. Only disappointment was we chose D&W for the Bluegrass Brunch, even called to ensure the experience. There was no bluegrass due to the holiday 😞. Had a wonderful experience anyway!

Although the food is always great, it is the service that makes the experience. From the host who greeted us to our server and any other staff we may have encountered, everyone was so nice and helpful. I would recommend Dalton and Wade.

Made reservations using Open Table, arrived and was taken to the smallest possible two-top at the very back of restaurant, walking by all the empty booths by the windows. We weren’t even seated and were going to ask the hostess for one of the booths, but she was already on the long trek back to the hostess stand. I called out as I followed her and she never turned around. Finally, at the stand I asked for one of the booths and she rolled her eyes and huffed her way back to our tiny table (and did I mentioned that with all the empty tables she sat us directly next to another occupied table). There, she grabbed the menus out of my wife’s hand and stomped to one of the booths. (We sat there for 2½ hours and the booth next to us remained empty the entire time). When wait staff finally arrived at our table, we asked about happy hour (there was still half an hour left) and were reluctantly given a menu. It appeared they were going to wait us out, but finally took a happy hour order from us. At the time, the place wasn’t busy at all, so I’m not sure what was up with he service. We enjoyed our apps and then a full dinner, but overall it was a less than stellar dining experience.

Food had good flavors (salmon dip and burger). They were out of Cabernets and the wait staff while pleasant were not attentive after the food arrived.
