When visiting the restaurant, patrons descend 18 feet underground in a canopied glass elevator, accessed from street level, for a culinary experience unlike any other. The American Steakhouse offers an expansive 1,800 square foot subterranean courtyard allowing patrons to dine al fresco and enjoy a New Orleans-inspired exterior space. This cool oasis is complete with a 20 foot, 5-tiered granite water wall, multi-tiered landscaping, lava rock fire pit, and black granite bar. Dakota's below-ground patio has long been considered one of the city's most romantic dining spots.

We believe the best steaks come from the best cut and quality. That’s why we get all of our beef fresh from renowned beef purveyors, Allen Brothers. Each cut is corn and grain fed USDA Prime steak that our chef handpicks. Each steak is aged for a minimum of 28 days for a perfectly tender, juicy bite every time.

It is our goal to give you a great meal every time you join us for lunch or dinner.

    First off the wine list is so overpriced. We paid $79.00 for a $12.00 bottle of wine. The Som did a poor job of explaining the alcohol content, he said it varies up or down and advised us it was a bigger wine than the bottle stated. This was not true and as a wine retailer I know the difference between a 13.5 and a 12. % wine. We got the wimpy wine. The food, so my baked potato was cold, my king crab was two bites for $36.00. I had to ask for butter and pepper it was not offered. This was a very dissatisfying experience.

    Chef- You did order the wine from your server without the assistance of our Somm. When he approached the table with your wine, you asked him what the alcohol % is, which he replied was 13.5 as stated on the bottle. You told him you were looking for a higher-alcoholic wine, he offered to suggest another wine in the same price range that would meet your requirements & you insisted that he open the Primus. Also, we pay more than twice the $12 price you quoted at wholesale, per bottle. As a wine retailer, you know that the price of wine in a liquor/grocery store is not indicative of what they purchased the wine for, as that type of business tends to price certain items at clearance prices to get people into the door. We know our prices are lower than comparable restaurants in the area.

    The service was top notch!! Drinks came quickly, as well as the food. Everything we ordered was delicious. Most of us had steak and the person who ordered Halibut raved about it! The lobster was outstanding. All the staff worked as a team and were very polite and helpful. The manager came by our table to check on us, which was very nice. Overall, felt very welcomed and would definitely dine again. The live pianist was also lovely. Great Experience!!

    This is the first time we went to Dakota's Steakhouse since they reopened. Everything was just as good as I remembered. Service was spot on. Appetizers, main course, and dessert were all amazing. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday, and the staff made an effort to treat her special. Will definitely be going back!

    Hands down the loudest steak house I’ve ever been to. Steaks were over seared and served with a hunk of cold unmelted butter on top and broccoli smelled and tasted like cigarettes. 2/10 would not recommend.

    We enjoyed every aspect of our dining experience. The ambience was enchanting and the Patio Room with waterfall was uniquely romantic. The staff was phenomenal and we enjoyed their hospitality.     Overrated … weird crowd and you sit practically on top of one another . Steaks were just okay, wine list unimpressive . But the service was outstanding ! The fresh bread (focaccia) was amazing and prob the best part of the dinner.

    The food was excellent!! Our server forgot a couple of things in our order including the topping to my filet. Therefore, I had to eat my sides first. Then about 10 minutes later my Oscar Style arrived and I ate my filet by itself. She was apologetic but I would never want her as my server again. She was just an average server and was a bit snobbish. She didn’t even clean the crumbs off the table between courses for us as she did for the other couples beside us. It was my birthday and there was no birthday card on the table from Dakota’s. However, the couple next to us had a Happy Anniversary card from Dakota’s. I am accustomed to having a card on the table whenever I am celebrating at a fine dining establishment. I also did not like that she assumed that we had never been there before. This woman never asked—just a total snob. So, not great service, excellent food and ambiance. Thank you. Dr. Hemphill

    The beef Wellington was outstanding! Would come back for that alone but the pork belly app, lobster Mac n cheese side, and all the potato sides were also incredible along with the service!

    Brandon was an amazing server. The red velvet birthday cake was exquisite! I wish it was on the menu to purchase. The Tator tots were awesome. The Mac n cheese PHENOMENAL. Broccolini was gross, it tasted like a cigar. Steaks and short rib were delicious.

    Ate at Dakota's before attending opening night of The Nutcracker on recommendation of Texas Ballet Theatre. The restaurant honored my reservation request. Service was top notch and the food was excellent.

    My wife and I had Thanksgiving lunch at Dakota’s. We had been dining at another fine dining restaurant for the past 8 years but it recently closed. The room was packed but lovely. Lovely piano accompaniment helped set the mood as did the waterfall. They featured a holiday Prix Fixe (not our usual choice) that was loaded great options. The food was great as was the service, likely to be our new special occasion spot. CB

    The service was outstanding! We were given special attention and her demeanor was so kind. If it was possible I would request Abby every single time. The servers who assisted her were also very professional and helpful.
