Sit back and take in the many decorative nuances that make Dakota's still one of the most romantic spots in Dallas. Outside the restaurant, the multi-level waterfall, draping foliage and black granite patio bar make dining outdoors a delight. Inside the restaurant, the New Orleans lamps and imported marble floors neatly package the classic theme.

Dakota's as excellent. The food was phenomenal, and the atmosphere and service was great.
Great food, mediocre service. Our waitress was uninformed about the menu, came to our table sporadically, and seemed to be rushing us.
At this price point, I do not think we should be asked to order entrees when we order appetizers. Also, we had to ask for bread upon arrival.
Family celebration—they were very sweet to the kids. Outdoor area is pretty.
Dakota’s always offers an awesome experience. The food is great and the staff is out of this world!
The food was great steak cooked perfectly. The waiter was good a little on the slow side but friendly and knowledgeable of menu items and wine. My only knock in the place it was very very loud tough to converse and hear the waiter.
We try to dine every year during the DSC convention and are never disappointed. The staff, host and food are fantastic.
Service was slow. It took several minutes for a server to first arrive at our table. No one seemed to know who was responsible for us. Had to request pepper to season our salads.
I want to echo what my husband posted as well. By far, the WORST dining experience we have had at a “top steakhouse” in Dallas or anywhere to be exact. I’m not sure if it is under new management or not, but this place has gone extremely downhill. Save yourself the headache and disappointment and stay away:
OVERRATED OVERPRICED AND OVER-HYPED:
Went here for daughter’s Birthday. We have kids and were stuck on the patio. Was not asked, told where to sit. It was a cold windy night in Dallas and even with the outside area covered and fire pit on, it was freezing.
Then the GNATS, they were everywhere. We were swatting like we were at a zoo. Speaking of which, we felt like animals tossed outside to fend for ourselves.
Our waiter was rude and obnoxious. Then the food, hoping this would be the saving grace. NOPE. Food was bland and cold and just like another reviewer, steak was overcooked and charred...my wife almost broke a tooth on it. Rest of food was at best quality of a fast food restaurant.
They brag to be award winning and best in the metroplex, but OH NO, they are FAR FAR from the best. Best of the worst maybe. The worst of it was we called ahead and had reservations and SEVERAL times told them it was my daughter’s Birthday. Then again when we arrived and again to our waiter directly. Throughout the course of the meal and after NOT ONE PERSON said Happy Birthday nor any tiny piece of cake with a candle...nothing. This alone was worth this review.
Then add in, GM is know where to be found and completely unresponsive via email, phone or text and we felt bullied to pay our bill after demanding to speak to the ownership or head GM.
Save your money, its not worth the hype and not worth the money to eat here. Jamie Benge, we have been trying to contact you all evening. It's probably one of your busier nights of the week and no one can reach you.
We are very disappointed in our treatment as well as the food and experience overall.
Absolutely stellar steak and lobster and wonderful service !
Wanted to take my lady to a place that is different. Dakota’s is unlike other places as it is below street level. The ambiance and food was wonderful.
Once again, Dakota's met all my expectations for service and food quality. Great steaks and the service was excellent. Always a great choice to celebrate a special occasion.
I’ve been often for lunch. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and make sure that you have what you want. Their food is top notch, and service is great.
We like the place and its atmosphere. The food has always been great, consistently great. We enjoy the pianist versus the piped in music. Would recommend to anyone wanting a very nice dining experience.
The restraunt was great but steaks were not worth the money.
The service was excellent and the waiter made solid drink recommendations. We could split our meal as neither of us can finish a 10oz steak with sides. Overall an enjoyable experience and ambiance with good food.
Amazing . . . every bite from the tempura shrimp appetizers to kona coffe crusted steak to the white chocolate cheesecake.
Not what I expected. Service was slow. Hostess/waiter was unaware of the special occasion. Manager never came over and say hello or check on our food after it was served. Patio furniture? Had to wait for valet. It was our first time there, we don’t think we will be returning. Not what we expected from someone who came from Al Biernat’s.
AMAZING food, great atmosphere. Service was great for most of the night, but got slow at the end. Expensive, but worth it.
Service and food were outstanding on NYE- and ordering was from the regular menu, even on such a busy night. Always a good experience.
Celebrating a Clemson victory in Cotton Bowl. Last minute reservations and completely satisfied. Steaks were a cut above and service great. Atmosphere very relaxing and conducive to fine dining.
Kenneth was amazing! I will always choose Dakotas for the best steakhouse in Dallas!
Ambiance was good. Service was fair. Food was disappointing. Flavor was lacking on the filet. Gristle and fat on the ribeye. Macaroni and cheese was not impressive. Calamari was best part of the meal.
Great food and service. The light was too low, but still very nice.
The servers were very attentive, our water glasses were never empty. The service was quick, discrete, and the food was worth the price. My filet melted in my mouth.
The only negative -- music. Both canned and the piano player were louder than I would have liked.
Great place for a romantic evening out! Be ready to be there a while as service is slow. We got a free dessert for celebrating our engagement! Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere and super unique experience!!!! Would go again!
They didn’t do anything requested.
The restaurant is uniquely located below ground which leads to an interesting atmosphere. They have excellent appitiziers which were a good size. The steak we ordered were cooked to perfection and very tasty. Service was good and I would definitely go here again.
Great service and food. Highly recommend .
Service was good, but food bland and disappointing. It was Christmas Eve and the restaurant was packed. Not sure what the problem was....
Pros; Great place for that special night out with a $$ Dinner for two bill.
Cons; The lighiting is way to dark.
Excellent in every way!!
The food was mediocre at best with a over the top price tag. Everyone liked their steak but my lobster was not fresh and was not cooked well. The sides were ok, nothing to write home about. The service was great but the cocktails were subpar. I would skip it, honestly. It was $450 for a table of 4, 2 of which were not drinking. I don’t have a problem spending that kind of money, when it’s worth it but that was not the case.
Fantastic restaurant with a beautiful ambiance and wonderful staff - especially Amber behind the bar.
Excellent service and great food. Jamie and the team did a great job. Perfect for downtown dining.
Who serves a French Dip on a poofy bun? Yuk. Service was very good.
Steaks were good but not great. All had a pronounced burnt taste (not what good char tastes like). Also, my wife received my son’s steak and vise versa. Disappointing that oysters ran out but I appreciate management attempting to compensate by taking $20 off our bottle of wine. In all, it was good but we expected more from Dakota’s.
We enjoyed our dinner and night there. Our waiter was attentive and we were treated well.
First experience- we will definitely be back!
Ive been a number of times to this establishment, this time however was absolutely the worst. Customer service was just terrible, when people choose to go to a fine restaurant such as Dakotas they expect a certain level of service and attention to detail. To start off the night we were told repeatedly that the sides in which we wished to order would be "to much" for the table. Im sorry but if i want to order every single side item off the menu, i should be able to without someone contradicting me. Ive never been to a restaurant where they are trying to tell me the customer what i should order, i think i have a handle on what i want to eat. The evening goes on and finally our food arrives at our table. It was a total surprise to me and everyone else at the table that their steaks were undercooked,No one wanted to send theirs back and wait even longer to eat their dinner. Getting to my steak, i ordered the 36oz porterhouse (my favorite) when it was finally brought to the table, the steak was barely warm and i mean barely. I wavied the manger over, he then took my steak to have it heated up. My biggest question of the night was how does a 80.00 steak thats warm go out of the kitchen to a customer? The evening ended with everyone being dissatisfied, not once were we checked on to see how we were doing. Im not sure what happened to this place but it sure as hell isnt what it use to be. My advice...go somewhere else, somewhere the customer really matters.
We had dinner here before the Elton John concert and was amazed at the service and food! This being the first time for dinner,I usually take clients here for lunch, the food was outstanding! The four of us all had steaks, filets, oscar style and rib eyes with the onions and peppers, cooked and seasoned to perfection. I would put Dakota's up against any of the other steak houses in the DFW area you will not be disappointed!
