Dakar NOLA is a modern Senegalese tasting menu restaurant. The menu is inspired by Chef Serigne Mbaye’s most cherished memories of his childhood in Dakar, Senegal.
Dinner at Dakar NOLA features a pescatarian tasting menu with some dishes served family-style.
We are a reservations only concept open Tuesday through Saturday and our dinner experience lasts 2.5 hours.
Our menu changes often and is mostly dairy and gluten-free.
Reservations are open 42 days at a time with a new period opening at 10 am central time.
We are unable to accommodate the following allergies: Fin fish, soy, shellfish aroma/fumes, allium, honey
**We can accommodate shellfish allergy and peanut if noted in the reservation.
We can NOT accommodate a Vegan diet or a vegetarian that does not eat food cooked in seafood broth.
We are able to accommodate a gluten intolerance/allergy
In order to minimize disruptions to the kitchen, late arrivals will be served the current course being served

Step into the jewel box restaurant for a memorable evening, where some of the dishes are served family-style and where you'll learn about the history of the food and drinks in front of you. Expect a welcome tea, before diving into the seasonal seven-course menu that might include Gulf shrimp and smoky jollof rice.

For over $700 for 2 people we were highly underwhelmed. We eat at starred restaurants with prix fix menus fairly regularly. This was the first where they consider a piece of bread a “course.” Our tablemates did not get either their cocktails or the wine they brought themselves for over 40 minutes. Ours took almost as long. The food was good and the staff was very pleasant but nothing we would go back for. So so many amazing restaurants in New Orleans. We were disappointed with this one for what what we spent.

Beautiful decor, excellent service, and delicious food. It's worth every penny. I have never had a restaurant make me feel as special as I felt at Dakar. Wonderful experience.

The experience was really nice. Several small courses, but every course was exceptional. However, I feel that I overpaid for what was actually received overall and actually left the experience still a bit hungry. Previous reviewers mentioned the Chef making an appearance and giving some of his background and insight into the menu. This did not happen on my visit, which is a disappointment and would have make the experience better. Glad we went (wife and I) but I do not believe we will go back based on value vs. money spent. We are local as well.

Believe The Hype: Dakar is OUTSTANDING, with West Africa and Louisiana tastes masterfully blended. The food is invigorating and revelatory; you'll feel a definite culinary crescendo as you move from plate to plate. But, and here's the really nice surprise, in the stuffy, dinner-jackety milieu of NOLA fine dining, Dakar is relaxed; the atmosphere and tone is familial and unfussy. I can only hope this model gets adopted by similarly savvy and talented chefs and restaurateurs, who can bring even more relatively unknown cuisines to the city, in such a perfectly realized way.

Really amazing food. Very friendly and approachable staff. A couple of the wine pairings were a little off in my opinion, but didn't take away from the food, which again, was so good! The ginger tea with mint foam just started everything off right!
