We took my son for lunch for his 14th birthday. The decor is really nice and staff was very friendly. We had the spicy miso and my son had the super spicy shoyu. It’s was definitely super spicy!! He ate as much as he could but had to take the rest to go. We also ordered the gyoza which was pretty tasty. Overall it was a good experience I just don’t think their ramen options are as flavorful as other ramen restaurants that I have been to in DC. The lunch menu is probably also more limited.
In case you aren’t aware, they have outdoor seating, in the form of picnic tables. So great way to get ramen, fresh and hot, while still being open air... Especially if it’s a nice day out.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely go back.
This was my second time going. And it was amazing. I went with my family and it was such a nice time. Everyone put there phones away too talk and eat good food. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Great ramen!
Great food! Service was ok. Definitely a must try!
Ate outside with the nice weather. Ramen was great as always. Tables are covered but wasn’t necessary for us.
Thank you
Always an amazing time
Best ramen in dc!
Brussels sprouts, beef gyudon quesadilla, and the fish taco were all a 10/10!
Ramen is becoming the latest culinary craze after cupcakes and truffle fries. Most new ramen shops are gimmicky, touristy and third-rate. But if you're a ramen purist looking for something similar to what you'd find in Tokyo or Sapporo, Daikaya is the place. Their noodles are excellent and the delicious broth options closely model regional variations.
A recent visit was marred by the challenges restaurants face in adapting to COVID restrictions. Instead of the authentic counter tables downstairs, the food is served in the upstairs lounge, with noisy music and kind of a bleak bar vibe. The service also felt perfunctory rather than welcoming and crisp. Fortunately, once those steaming bowls of perfection arrived, all that faded into the background.
Food was amazing and they did well with the COVID restrictions. I really disliked how often the waitress came by and she also asked my husband if we were celebrating his birthday when I had put in our reservation that we were. For the small plates, they should specify how many pieces. We ordered a few things that looked like they could be shared, but it was only one skewer worth of food (2-3 pieces on a stick). The drive from our home wasn’t really worth it (30mins). We’ll probably only come by again if we’re already in the area.
So this was by far the best lunch I had all year. The ramen was harmonious. Absolutely wonderful. Perfect thing to eat on a cold day.
Not as impressive as usual. Server or cook omitted our special requests. And ramen wasn't as hot as usual. Still, not bad. Everyone has an off day from time to time.
The food and service was amazing. Great energy.
Wonderful experience! Recommend the catfish!
Best restaurant in DC! The ramen is so flavorful and the vibe is awesome.
Great Food, their Ramen is the best in the area, highly recommended.
great food :)
Daikaya is amazing as always...even in these covid days!
I love this place! I travel over an hour to eat here. And now I have to travel with my infant. But it’s so worth it! This time the young guy at the front recognized me & called me by my name as I was walking up the stairs! I must say that made me feel special & he even assumed I’ll be traveling with my baby. He goes I have the big table, I’m the corner ready for you. I figured you might have had baby with you. He was sure right, lol. They make you feel comfortable here in a very uncomfortable time. I can’t wait to go back next week!
Food and cleanliness was great.
awesome food, tasty drinks, fast service, and the proper covid precautions were in place.
Always top tier experience! This place is never a let down! Food is amazing!
Daikaya was still great and the social distance precautions made me feel very safe the entire time.
My soup was cold.
I absolutely love Daikaya, it is one of my go to places!
This place was delicious and the decor is beautiful
I’ve been to many ramen places & daikaya has still remained my #1. This particular visit there was a mix up with my reservation, so i was compensated for my troubles with my appetizers being on the house. Great customer service, very attentive. I wish they would always sell ramen upstairs as well. Daikaya for the win!
Consistently good food, service, and atmosphere. One of my favorite places in D.C.
Daikaya is now accepting reservations, social distancing is occurring. Tables are far apart with dividers between booths. All staff are wearing masks. Service and food good as usual.
Excellent izakaya style ramen shop. I’d go every day if I lived nearby.
Food is so authentic and amazing!!!
Try the catfish its delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always excellent! One of our faves when in DC!
The food was incredible. We felt plenty distanced from other customers. Will keep coming back.
It was a special date night and the service and atmosphere really made the night!
My husband and I had Grilled Shitake Mushrooms, Gyudon Quesadillas, Cafish Kara Aged, Veggie Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen. He loved the Catfish and Veggie Ramen. I had Spicy Miso Ramen. I added a spice bomb that made it better. I loved the Grilled Shitakes. All in all, we probably will go again. I'll order a different ramen and won't compare it to my favorite ramen place.
Great food, great service. It’s always worth it!
Even during COVID they pulled off something special! The menu was intriguing and the food was amazing (and a killer value)! We just kept ordering.
Pay them a visit. It's a fantastic place and a nice change from the ordinary; a real treat these days.
