About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
Stripped-down, relaxed fine-dining in the heart of Fitzrovia. Spread over two floors, Dabbous comprises a dining room and basement bar, both with an industrial but organic feel: exposed brickwork, sheet metal and copper pipes offset by candlelight and natural woods. The menu offers elegant yet restrained food, characterised by clean flavours and simple presentation. Dishes include: salad of fennel, lemon balm and pickled rose petals; barbecued Iberico pork with savoury acorn praline, turnip tops and homemade apple vinegar; and fig leaf icecream. In the basement bar you will find both classic and signature cocktails, such as the Dillusion: cucumber, elderflower and dill mixed with Bloom gin, ice and lemon. A limited selection of bar snacks is offered alongside the full restaurant menu. Tailored music playlists and table service also feature. All in all, a more modern and informal alternative to many of London"s fine dining restaurants.

Great venue creative cooking. Good wines. However Main course accompanyments overpowered the main element of the dish .

The food at Dabbous was delicious, inventive and eye-catching, hence the score of 4/5. My favourite was the pea mint creation...colourful, fresh and full of flavour. The setting is 'warehouse' chic...not austere but not shabby either. Where Dabbous fell down was on a small point, but when you are paying upward of £100 pp these small things count...and it is what you expect of a top notch establishment. when I accidentally knocked a full cocktail I wasn't offered a replacement. of course my fault and they are not obliged to but my experience with equivalent restaurants is that they would offer a fresh cocktail. In comparison to these Dabbous didn't score highly...a shame, but something I will remember in my experience.

Although the name suggests Middle Eastern cooking, the cuisine is decidedly eclectic with a new twist on some British standards. Our highlight on the tasting menu was mint peas. An explosion of flavours and extremely refreshing on a hot summer evening. Likewise the allium starter was out of this world. The service was paced perfectly, and our main server (a lovely young Irish woman) was a delight. Interior was modern and slightly funky. Wonderful experience all around.

Amazing food and great service, a real fine dining experience. I would particularly recommend the coddled egg with mushrooms and the broth of monkfish and mussels.

Excellent, wonderful staff. An engaged and engaging sommelier, and wonderful waiting staff. They remained loyally tight-lipped on the next endeavour once Dabbous closes, except to say that they would be going with, which bodes extremely well. Food was creative, imaginative, considered and thoughtful. And of course delicious. Didn't feel unnecessarily showy or pretentious, which can be a fine line to tread with a tasting menu. Somewhat let down by the incredible noise coming from the bar below., but staff seemed to indicate that it wasn't the norm.

The food was good and bad. The last chocolate dish was difficult to break into with a fork and spoon alone but why should eating be hard work? We had to ask for our bottle of red wine. We poured most of our own drinks. We couldn't understand the gentleman explaining what food was being served. Overall it was nice but i wasn't wowed.
