About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for creative cocktails
Cured – The gastro-pub style restaurant, in the heart of the Pearl District of San Antonio, TX. Cured is endowed with a name that celebrates Chef Steve McHugh's successful battle against cancer, as well as the artisanal cured meats that are the cornerstone of his menu. The three-time James Beard Award finalist began his culinary journey on a small farm in Wisconsin and a vibrant decade in New Orleans. This position eventually led him to San Antonio where, with a new lease on life after beating lymphoma, he ventured out on his own to open Cured. McHugh's gastronomic foundation relies on the purity of natural regional ingredients and the hands-on unadultured methods that enhanced his own healing process. This from-scratch focus finds its way to seasonally dynamic menus of cured delicacies from the charcuterie to pickles.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Steve McHugh

From the OpenTable editors: Cured is where you go for some of the country’s best charcuterie, thanks to James Beard-nominated chef Steve McHugh. Step into the rustic, century-old brick building with ham hocks swinging in a glass case, then choose from nearly a dozen charcuterie options like venison loin to elk paté. Don’t miss other menu standouts like crispy fried quail legs and steak frites starring premium cuts of beef like a dry-aged porterhouse

We went to cured 2-3 years ago loved the ambience, the food was superior with reasonable value. Last night still feature great service and ambience, however prices were outrageous, sides are a la carte and my chicken liver were overcooked to the point of almost not eatable. People at the table had steaks that were delicious but way expensive

My absolute, most favorite restaurant in the city. Upscale fare in dress casual digs. Their happy hour can’t be beat! Highly, highly recommend.

Went for brunch - no crowd so was quiet. Is in a quaint place/the food was very good & inventive. Had a Bloody Mary - it was outstanding/one of the best ever. Be aware of it's location ....... is about 2 block walk inside the old Pearl Brewery complex so no ready parking remotely near.

Wonderful meal - great service, a beautiful setting, and fantastic food. We had the Sunday Supper and the fried chicken and grits were out of this world good. Don’t miss the boudin empanadas! Our server helped us choose an outstanding charcuterie, too. Loved the historic building and Pearl District! A great place for a special meal.

Menu way too limited. Charcuterie really bland compared with what we remember. Probably won't return. A real shame.

The atmosphere is awesome. Drinks and charcuterie boards were great. The main course was disappointing for our entire table and service was lacking once the main meal was served. It is a perfect place for drinks and appetizers but I would skip dinner. Would definitely come back for pre dinner festivities and eat dinner elsewhere.
