   My husband and I stayed at the Lancaster for our anniversary celebration and decided to try the restaurant on site. I'm so glad we did! I enjoyed everything I had immensely. The short ribs and mushroom risotto were bursting with flavor, the Cucumber Collins mixed drink was on point, and the bread pudding was to die for. My husband had the salmon and it was well presented and perfectly cooked. And of course the service was friendly and well done.

   Always a pleasure to visit CF+B. Restaurant manager was quick to assist waitstaff which kept the service pace on track. Salmon starter was outstanding; scallops entree well presented but missing the scallop sweetness. Possibly the seasoning? Dessert (churros) portion very generous and enough to share. After a warm-up, coffee provided a proper finish to a relaxed and well-intentioned meal. Still a high recommendation to locals and hotel guests.

   Great setting in a historic hotel. Large windows giving off good light as one views Jones Hall & a new city park. Food was great; presented very well. Service was attentive without hovering. We enjoy the sophisticated setting & selections.

    Service was poor! We had to flag the the hostess down after 25 mins of waiting, to see if we had a server. We had not even received water. We were heading to a play after dinner. She then refers ours over. She had been serving the couple at table next us water, drinks, bread tray, taking their order. When she approached us she says do you know what you want to order? Then she never returned to our table. The host delivered our food. Our drinks were never refilled, we were never checked on. The food was actually outstanding, however I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone due to the extremely poor service. Do better!

    Our food was terrific and very reasonably priced. Unfortunately, those two qualities attract a young, male business crowd for lunch. The noise level was so high that we could not have a conversation.

    It is really a treat to go this restaurant. Conveniently located close to the Wortham Center. The staff is marvelous and makes you feel like "at home". Each time we experiment a new dish and are always pleasantly surprised. This time we tried the mussels and crab cake. Both of these dishes are wonderful.     Normally the service is impeccable however the last time we were there service was not as great. I think they were short staffed. Our waiter took our order then went to work behind the bar. Took forever to really get food after being ordered. Not exactly a five star evening

    It is always a special treat for us to eat at the Cultivated F+B before going to the Opera. All the waiters and the manager are very pleasant. The food is excellent and very constant in quality. We truly enjoy the time at the restaurant because we know that everything will arrive on time and we are not stressed to be on time at the opera. The restaurant is very busy and still it is not too noisy to have a relaxing conversation. The restaurant has enough choices on the menu so we have enjoyed new tastes each time we went to the restaurant.

    We had a super slow server. He said he’d bring more water, and then he gave water to the next table with full glasses. He spilled the wine twice while pouring it. He never asked for our order or talked about the food- we had to ask for everything.

    This was literally the worst dining experience I have had in Houston since moving here in 2013. There was plastic in our food, the service was next to appalling and borderline neglectful (they are clearly under-staffed and cutting corners), and the food was kept under a heat lamp so was baryons soggy and old by time it gets to your table. The management need to seriously sort out their priorities because as a patron who has been multiple times over the years, tonight’s experience will make us not return and tell others to avoid as a result. Waste of time.

    Lovely space. Fine for conversation, until it gets busy, then loud...especially when the bar fills up. Good food. Starter bread was fresh and warm. Recommend the Mediterranean lamb meatballs, Lancaster Salad, chocolate pot de creme...all tasty. Best time to go is late lunch if you want to talk.

    Kind of sad about our lunch experience as we were really looking forward to it. The location is nice and it was not crowded which was great but the service was pretty limited. We wanted to sit outside and were discouraged to do so. Our first waitress never came by until we asked, no introductions and never even asked if we wanted anything. Thankfully someone else changed shift and was better but again no introductions. We ordered the Mediterranean platter for appetizer and they ran out of pita bread! For lunch we ordered chicken Caesar salad and they forgot the chicken which again we had to point out. No manager or anyone came by. Fries and chips were served cold. Overall sad poor expensive experience at an otherwise nice looking place.

    Disappointing service, ancient waiter who was hard of hearing. Between him and the barman they could not figure out a mezcal negroni. Bread came after the starters were finished, so did the second failed attempt at a pre-dinner cocktail. Main course came before our cutlery. Had to ask twice for water. Food was good. Restaurant felt cramped - too many closely packed tables.

    The food was excellent. The service was a bit slow but not terrible. I liked the old interior design better. The current design is a bit too modern for me. The noise level was a bit high, but that was probably due to the very loud table of businessmen next to us who were discussing their deals.

    Whomever called me to confirm my appointment said that we “can where whatever we’d like,” and that “there is no dress code.” I looked online, at more than two websites to check the dress code and general vibe of the restaurant, and I never expected it to be the hoity-toity, exclusive restaurant with a huge ego that it turned out to be. When we walked up, we were definitely dressed down compared to everyone else. We felt very out of place. We walked up and the atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming. From the doormen to the greeter and the waiter, it felt very uptight, snooty, and completely a different experience than what was expected. Literally not a single smile was cracked by either the greeter or our waiter. My wife ordered a Caesar salad, and it was met by a very long, awkward, and, retrospectively, pretty hilarious silence by the waiter. We weren’t sure what else was supposed to be said, but the waiter finally realized that was all she wanted. I looked up at him and then he got the energy to ask whatever details necessary to make a “Cultivated” Caesar Salad. The salad was slightly wilted and had, of all things, anchovies on it. They were removed, but their taste lingered. My scallops were very good, however, and they were perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes and other items on my plate complemented each other very well. Nonetheless, the waiter “helped” us feel a little more out of place on the way out. I tipped my minimum 20% as we left. I’m not sure if he expected less or what the deal was, but there was absolutely no “thank you,” “have a good day,” etc. as we departed. We were both very eager to stop cramping Cultivated’s style and get outta there. This is a highly rated restaurant and hotel, but it is okay to smile! To act as if you’re happy to be doing your job. That this is the #1 hotel in Houston, and therefore, the restaurant and its staff are here to knock your socks off with their stellar service, attitude, and food (minus the salad).

    Only one table occupied. They only wanted to seat us at worst table. Unwilling to seat elsewhere. Very rude and unwelcoming. We left.

    Pre-Symphony meal (Chris Botti) with date. Drinks delivered expertly and just enough attention to the table. Host spilled water on the table when refilling glass, but harmless. Split potato chips then a very well done Beet Salad - quite tasty. Continued with Scallops for me and Salmon for my companion. Both well prepared and timely presented. Accompanied by champagne for her and a Sauvignon Blanc for me. Meal concluded with sufficient time to wander across to Jones Hall for the show. A bit loud by the time the meal ended, a consequence of the roll having all windows and hard scape, otherwise quite well done.

    This is our go-to before going to shows next door. The service is always a little slow when you arrive (like you might feel like they are never going to take your drink order), but once your server arrives things will flow nicely. The food has been great every time we go. My favorite is the crab cake, but everything is always delicious!

    Delicious food and great service, the lancaster is very convenient for theatre evenings. It did get a bit crowded and noisy.

    Good place to eat before going to Jones Hall or Alley. Staff will work hard to make sure you make your curtain but you have to give them a chance. 7:15 for an 8:00 show is very difficult. Reservations before a show are a must. Food is good and presented very nicely. Tables for 2 are very close together.
