   This was my first time at Cucciolo Osteria and I was very pleased. All the staff were engaging, pleasant, helpful and customer-oriented. In fact, I would say the two big reasons to go to Cucciolo Osteria are: the food and the experience. The food is well-made and follows authentic Italian cuisine that you'd get in a decent Italian restaurant in Italy; that is, food based upon proven traditions. Italians insist on well-made food, even if it is simple. They also appreciate traditional recipes that evolve. You will find this at Cucciolo. The experience is customer-oriented - the staff are prompt, helpful and knowledgeable. The menu allows for options including gluten-free pasta. Our wait person was able to make a slight change in the amount of cheese in a dish. A very pleasant experience, and one worth repeating.

   This is our favorite, go-to restaurant whenever we are in the Durham area. Good wines, good food. Gets a little noisy when it is busy, but then every good restaurant does. I would love to see some murals in certain places - something Italian, particularly very sterile nook right behind the entry way where they have the table for larger parties.

   We love this place. The food has always been outstanding, and at a reasonable price. Cocktails are varied and very good, also. Staff has always been top notch. The only issue is sometimes parking can be a hassle - last night we had to park 3 blocks away at Brightleaf. But a lot of downtown Durham restaurants have the same issue.

   Service is spectacular, food- from antipasto to the beet salad, the spicy vodka ziti, and lamb chops was incredible. We go often and always have the identical experience. The owners are wonderful people and the entire staff shares their enthusiasm and joy. Don’t miss this restaurant.

    We go to Cucciolo Osteria frequently and love their food! Unfortunately, the service was not good this time. We ordered a cocktail, bottle of prosecco, apps and pasta dishes. Our waitress brought the cocktail and said the prosecco needs to chill and she'd bring it over shortly. Our apps came out so we assumed she would bring it soon but definitely before our main dishes came out. Next thing you know our main dishes were brought out by a food runner before we were done with the apps. Our waitress didn't check on us and we couldn't get her attention to ask about the prosecco. When she finally came to our table she says I'll bring the prosecco right away. I told her to cancel the bottle and just asked for a glass. I don't know about you but getting a bottle of wine when you're halfway thru your entree defeats the purpose! And when she brought our check she didn't even take the bottle off the bill! Food was good as usual but the subpar service was disappointing. We always tip at least 20% but tonight we left less due to bad service. Hope this was a one off and just a bad night for the waitress!

    Kitchen is not accommodating to any deviations from menu. Asked for chicken added to pasta. They said no, had to buy a whole chicken entree. Ok, asked to chop up to go in my pasta, said no.

    Delicious food, neat urban/industrial decor. Other guests and staff were all smartly dressed and contributed to the atmosphere. We’ll be back! Physical menus would have been preferred so we didn’t have to stare at our phones but it was not a major issue in totality.

    There were no reservations available, but set an alert in case something opened up…and it did! We had a lovely high top table near the bar, Maggie was our attentive server. We chose the black truffle tajarin and the grouper which was the catch of the day. Both were delicious, hot and the pasta was perfect! Cucciolo Osteria is one of our favorite restaurants in the triangle, we highly recommend it!!

    My wife and I enjoyed dinner at Cucciolo Osteria on January 30. Our service from Sarah was less than expected as she seemed somewhat distracted and less attentive than we would’ve liked. However, the food was creative and delicious. My wife enjoyed the tomato basil bruschetta and a creative professor pibb drink. My wife also enjoyed the spicy vodka tomato cream rigatoni, and I had the white Ragu Tajarin and both pastas were creative and delicious. We also shared the butter chicken Sostanza style which was unusual, but extremely tasty. The restaurant is very modern in decor and it does get rather loud in the restaurant but we still enjoyed a good meal.

    I had the carpaccio here, which is excellent, and the butter chicken, which was very pleasant. My wife had the green salad and the pasta with clam sauce, which she especially enjoyed. We shared panna cotta for desert, which was very good. Service, by Emily (?) was very good but the room was crowded and noisy, which detracted somewhat. Wine selection could have been better. Overall, a very good meal and we shall be back.

    We went for our anniversary and we’re told happy anniversary by the hostess and server, we were also given complimentary Prosecco. It was a nice touch that made us feel special. The food and service were incredible. We had such an amazing time and will definitely be back.

    Celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary there last night. Service was outstanding, prompt and friendly and handled an issue with our food quickly and professionally. The food was average, nothing really stood out as exceptional. The wine list was very good, we enjoyed an excellent Brunello. Overall an average experience, not sure we'd go again but maybe.

    I’d avoid the lamb chop. Portion for for what you pay didn’t seem adequate to me. Go with the steak. Fantastic and good value. Butter chicken is good for what you pay. Carbonara is best around. Hands down.
