We were seated outdoors and the ambiance was great. The scallops were delicious!
The food and wine was amazing and it’s clearly a beautiful restaurant, however the service was bad enough that I won’t be returning. We made reservations and still waited for 15+ minutes (honestly no big deal on this). I wanted to get a drink while I wait so I went to the bar and both bartenders did not acknowledge me standing there for 10 of those minutes. It was not busy at the bar at all. The male in particular looked over me several times so I just went outside to wait. Our waitress was okay. I just had expectations of such a nice restaurant and unfortunately have gotten better service at Chili’s so, won’t be going back.
outstanding food and lovely sidewalk dining. perfect place a relazed dinner and wine.
Cru Wine bar is a great spot to stop in a have a delicious meal and sample quality and unique wines. It is very easy to get a reservation and the value for your meal is well worth it. The service is adequate, the servers are polite and helpful however don't expect 5 star dinning service. Ambiance is good, the bathrooms can definitely use some attention as well as the maintenance of the patio. I would give Cru a 3.8 out of 5 and recommend it for a date night out.
Good for a fun night out. There is no AC inside.
selection of wine flights and cheese board.
Everything was good! It was our anniversary and my husband told them and we were a little disappointed that they didn’t acknowledge it.
Perfect outdoor dining in this Covid environment with great wine selection. Great service!
Jim is fantastic and an asset to Cru and Jason the Chef is a creative genius with his specials! Love this place! They enhance my experience each time I decide to swing in. They’re accommodating and pleasant always.
Making a reservation through OpenTable was simple and helpful. I will definitely be using this in the future.
Great service and food!
Both steaks were over cooked.
Delicious brunch options! Love that you can get a carafe of mimosas or bellinis for only $12!
The food was awful. I had the pan seared halibut. It was overcooked and dry. The risotta was dry and tasteless. I was extremely disappointed. The server was curt, it was obvious that he didn't want to be there, understandably so considering we are in a pandemic. They would be better off closing their doors than serving this mess!!! Awful, awful. To top it off, the wine was flat!
Cru never fail to amaze us! Fourth Of July special fix menu was to die for
Gorgonzola and fig bruschetta was phenomenal!
The Goat Cheese Beignets were amazing. Could have eaten more if the other great options weren't in front of us!
I have been to other locations and had a great experience. unfortunately all of my courses were cold this night. The restaurant is small and there was a very large and loud table that came in creating an environment where we had to yell to hear each other. I would have appreciated staff to remind the group of the small space and that people were having intimate dinners. The risotto was not risotto, it was regular long grain rice that was cooked poorly. The restroom was also not clean.
The cheese board, wine, and service were great.
This place can be for romance or a chill time with good friends. The food portions are decent. Obviously the wine selection can’t be beat. The manager and servers are accommodating and attentive people. They seem like a closer knit group that most who care about what they provide to customers.
Went for dinner and thought this looked like a great place. Wine bar with a great looking menu. Our server was average at best. He was running around and was rushed almost impatient. He totally screwed up the timing of the food. Entrees showed up ahead of the starters a total no no. We would have liked to try a few more wines but felt lucky to get the drinks we had. Food was quite good which saved the evening. Hard to recommend this place which is a shame because it has amazing potential.
Great capstone event for a weekend get away for my wife and I. We thoroughly Cru and will always make time to drop in for a 'flight' and an artisan cheeseboard. The Fondue is also great
Christmas Eve dinner was very nice. Food delicious, wine very good, great service. Only downside is the parking, as there is none. We parked three blocks down the street which is fine in the day but I wouldn’t walk to the car by myself at night.
Great service and excellent food.
Overall the food was delicious for a pre fix-enjoyed the appetizer choices, my filet was cooked perfectly along with the potato gratin and dessert of pumpkin cheesecake. Service wasn’t quite together-Brittany was very pleasant-got our rose cava (excellent) and coursed our dinner. But, missed the mark on coming back to our table to ask if we wanted wine with our dinner until the order came and then had to chill the Pinot noir another 5 minutes, which meant that we were almost done with our main course. Not sure what happened? It is a wine bar after all, so unfortunately have to ding the service on this one point. But overall enjoyable and beat having to cook Thanksgiving dinner at home.
My second time there. This time with a date, not my son. Great experience. Server/hostess was excellent, food was top notch and the wine - great selection and they were very patient with my date, who was very selective.
Great place to grab appetizers/light bites and some wine.
Absolutely fabulous experience. Love the cards that you get with your wine flight. Artisan cheese was amazing. Great service great ambience.
The wine flights were wonderful and a great value! The Goat Cheese Appetizer was absolutely delicious. My short rib and polenta was so yummy I wanted to lick my plate. My friend ordered the Halibut and it was really disappointing. Very small portion and little flavor. That was the only downside to our experience. Will definitely come back again, just won't have the Halibut:-)
Looking for a quiet bite while in town on business with hubby. Loved the ambiance. A great selection of wines poured into gorgeous crystal goblets. Never felt rushed . Enjoyed our wine while snacking on a charcuterie which was good. Up north ours consist of equal amounts meats and cheeses so we missed having more cheese than just the one. We had house salad ( too many onions) and a meatball to start and then the beef tip pizza. Everything was good and we enjoyed our dining experience.
Excellent food, wine, service-- everything was perfect. Thank you!
had a great experience was looking for nice quiet evening with good food
Server Ray was accommodating and engaging. Good service and appropriate food recommendations.
Very nice servers! Had a problem with our order that was resolved politely and right away. Great atmosphere, neat decor, and beautiful patio on one of the most walkable streets in Texas.
LOVED this place. Super impressive and unique wine list and great flights. Food was fantastic and memorable. We were just overall really pleasantly surprised and impressed with the whole experience. Will become one of our regular go-to date night spots.
Always wanted to try the Dallas location but we went in Austin. Service was spectacular! We ordered a cheese plate, one of our cheeses was so dry it crumbled when I tried to cut it. The server quickly fixed the issue. They were out of mussels too. The wine flight was great! The pizza was incredible!
1. didn’t have the wine we ordered on menu
2. substitute wine not close to what was advertised on menu. I hinted at a discount but waitress scoffed. This after 40 minute wait to “chill” said wine
3. Ahi tuna tartare ruined with Kalamata olives. This dish is subtle but adding powerful olives took all the tuna & avocado flavors away
4. Waitress ignored our information re: the reservation being through open table. I walked over the manager who understood & managed the issue (after avoiding eye contact with us)
So, poor service - poor food (the cheeses were good that come from elsewhere) I will probably go back as it’s in my neighborhood & a couple of other dishes I have liked. Cheaper because poor service does not get 20% from me. My expectations are low.
Consistently great wine and food. I really loved the salmon. Everything seems to be carefully prepared and served perfectly. Service was very knowledgeable and at the perfect pace. We love this place!
We’re no som’s by any means. My wife and ordered 2 of their flights and weren’t super excited about any of them. The waiter walked us through what we liked made a few recommendations let us try a couple and we ended up loving the choices. Staff was extremely helpful, even though they were short handed. Food was great with the wine. We would absolutely go back and recommend it to anyone looking for a wine bar downtown
Maddy served us on Father's Day and the service was fantastic! We are new in Austin and will return!
I've never been to a wine bar or wine based restaurant but CRU was amazing. Our waiter, Ethan, was awesome and made the experience one of the best. Took a date there, our first, and he made sure that it was as memorable and perfect as possible. 13/10 would go back just to have him wait on us again. Will definitely be back.
