We really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, we had a pretty terrible experience from the get-go. When we arrived, the staff did not know how to access the reservation system. Apparently, we weren’t checked in, so I received a no-show notification from Open Table. I digress...after we said we had reservations, no one said welcome, we see your reservation, come this way, etc. Eventually, we were seated. After a minute or two, we noticed several hairs on our tablecloth. Our waiter kindly exchanged the tablecloth and place settings. We then ordered drinks (which were borderline acceptable) and noticed another hair on a new napkin brought to the table. Our waiter told us they were out of lobster rolls and raw oysters (at 6:00 on a Saturday. In New Orleans.) This space has a great history, but this experience didn’t come close to living up to what it deserves. I hate to write such a negative review, but there are too many fabulous restaurant options in this city to settle for this level of service and experience.
Excellent service and ambience... The courtyard dining was a very cool experience.... Food was wonderful!!
Went with 5 girls for a bachelorette brunch.
It was pretty empty for the 1pm show: us, a two top, and a large party of 12ish. But it is the beginning of football season.
Service was impeccable, as they do on New Orleans. The Drag Queens were so fun.
A small place - a bit awkward for drag — especially if it were busier — but we had the best time!
Bring your dollars!!!
Went for drag brunch on Sunday morning, and everything was INCREDIBLE. So cute, great service, food was delicious, and the show was unforgettable. I will be telling everyone I know traveling to NOLA that it’s a must visit!
Great creative cuisine, new twists on Louisiana favorites, loved the atmosphere as well!
This was our first experience at Cru, it was recommended to us by a friend who went to the drag brunch the previous weekend. Our food was all scrumptious and very generous in portion. And the bottomless mimosas were truly bottomless, our glasses were never empty. Terrance provided the best service we had on our entire trip to NOLA, extremely attentive, but the whole crew works as a team to take care of everyone. The entertainment was top notch and the show just kept on going and going! (In a good way!)
It was refreshing to find a queer friendly place to go to that hasn't been completely overrun by bachelorette parties!
Top notch, cant wait to go back!
Servers were unprepared where out of a lot of things and had to keep coming out for us to pick new items due to shortage
We went for sunday drag brunch and it was SO much fun. The food was delicious, affordable bottomless, in a fun area, and the chef was super friendly. definitely would recommend especially for tourists!
Its a lovely venue but rather stark in the main dining area.
The food for the brunch was excellent but the menu could contain more options.
Nice experience, it was my first drag brunch. The food and service could have been better. The server had bad body odor and she was missing a lot. The drag show was good and so were the mimosas
We enjoyed the ambiance and the food was very good. Sadly, several of the dishes we wanted to order , as well as cocktails were not available.
Very disappointing experience. Out of many staple items that even a fast food establishment stocks. Chef Alexander was not in the kitchen. Tables of 8, 4 and 2 walked out before ordering. We had marginal service and food. The space is great but not strong enough to compensate for the negatives.
We arrived at 7 pm for a 7 pm reservation. Hostess was not welcoming. Server told us they were out of 4 entrees! At 7 pm! Took 20 to 30 min to receive cocktails. We asked for to go cups and went to N7.
Seriously you guys need to get help.
Great dining experience!
We had a great time. We started in the bar; our bartender was warm and friendly. We moved to the restaurant; the room was uncomfortable: very warm. The food was tasty especially the crab cake. We will come back.
I attended the Sunday morning drag brunch. The service was impeccable. My guest had the classic eggs Benedict while I had the braised short ribs hash - both were perfection. Chef Marlon was present and overseeing all aspects of the dining experience. And the drag queens made sure that everybody had a wonderful time. If I had to come up with anything to frown over, it was the fact that they did not have decaf coffee available. I will definitely be back.
The food was excellent. It was a wonderful experience.
Used to go there when it was called "Feelings" for the courtyard. Now, it's Cru and the food is the draw. The bartender recommended the grilled grouper and it IS amazing. The only reason I can't give a 5-star review was because of the flys buzzing us while we ate - in the dining room! Yes, I know they are to be expected in the summer, but not in a classy restaurant. If you can ignore them, GO! The food is worth it!
So fun! Loved the drag brunch!
Always an amazing experience at Cru. Highly recommend Drag Brunch.
The food/brunch was wonderful. The noise level was an 8.I thought that there was going to be 2 shows. We only saw 1 performer.A little disappointing.
We went for Drag Brunch. The food was incredible, the service was superior, loved the layout and we had a blast during the show. Will absolutely be back again.
We had reservations for our 5 year anniversary made last minute and we were BLOWN, AWAY. At intersecting roads, Cru is Co-located in Feelings Cafe and the owner/Head Chef Marlon "Manny" was outstandingly interactive. he approached us at our table and offered us a bottle of Champagne on the house! His wait staff were standing by the entire meal pouring drinks and cleaning as we go like clockwork. We had the Tomahawk Steak and Calimari, with Popcorn shrimp and then Donut Pudding Cake for dessert, INCREDIBLE, we had to take snaps of the meals as they came the presentation was 5 star! A tiny Gem, a little hole in the wall, so very glad we experienced it. If fancy is what you want it's what you'll get!
Enjoyed the food. Bar stock left me wanting. Service was a bit off. Will return
This place was amazing. Elevated dining. Drag Brunch was perfect. Great food great people.
The service slow and dishes came out at different times. They were out of a bunch of menu items. I ordered $15 oyster small plate, which were only 4 over fried oysters on spoons. I had to eat again afterwards.
Chef Marlon came to our table and his food was as good as his reputation, fantastic! We recommend try Donut bread pudding.
Came to Cru for our anniversary dinner last night. Food was superb. Muscles were fresh in a really nice sauce accompanied with andouille sausage. Maine course we both had filet mignon. Both were cooked exactly as ordered and covered with a amazing peppery mushroom sauce. Our waitress Kiki provided exception service, friendly and attentive. Great addition to the neighborhood.
We were unable to eat at Cru since our reservation for a table on the inside was not respected and we got seated outside in the sun and had to leave due to the hot weather.
Delicious food - eggs Benedict was a bit on the smaller side but very filling and good flavor! Great place to also see a show whole at brunch.
My friends and I went for a Sunday Drag Brunch. The queens were amazing. We enjoyed the performances and the way they interacted with the audience (it felt more like hanging out with friends rather than sitting at a show). The food was awesome (probably the best shrimp and grits I had in my life) and the service was outstanding. Will definitely go again when I am back in New Orleans.
Food was good to very good. Waitstaff friendly but overworked, too few. Conversation was impossible because music was too loud due to a drag show in the dining room, which I did not know was scheduled. Asked staff to turn down music, but was told it would not be turned down due to drag show. Staff and customers had to communicate by yelling over the music. Temperature in dining room was very high and windows were opened to no effect (June in New Orleans). I thought that the air conditioning was broken and it was just bad luck. However, at the end of the meal I was told the air conditioning was working, just ineffective. After watching customers and staff sweating throughout the evening, I wondered why anyone would treat their employees and cutomers this way. So even though the food was good, I will not be going back. There are many other places to dine in the city.
I’ve been twice with a group of 8 and everyone was thrilled. We sat in the courtyard once and up in the birds nest the other time. The food and service were excellent. Would highly recommend.
Bar staff was amazing and Chef Marlon was charming and engaging. Food was very good, loved the fried calamari, light and delish! Looking forward to our next meal there.
We had a ball at the Drag Show! Food was delicious and performances were incredible!
If it weren’t for the amazing drag performance and our other waitstaff, our server with purple hair could have completely ruined our experience. To say that she was inattentive and rude would be the understatement of the century. One of our party did not receive her breakfast for at least 10 or 15 minutes after the rest of the party. Our server did not notice and we had to tell her at which point she acted inconvenienced. Additionally, every single thing that we asked her for seemed to be completely out of her way and a huge issue for her. Thankfully, once the food came it was good, except for the New York Bagel, which was the only option for our friend who didn’t like Eggs Benedict and everything else on the menu was not available. Our saving grace was Vanessa - her performance was amazing and she was a needed distraction.
food took forever and came out wrong and one at a time. worst dining experience in a long time. hugely disappointing
Came in after finding out they had progressed from the Pythian Market and has high hopes the creativity and quality would be the same as there. We were not disappointed! Chef Marlon greeted myself, Myron and Brian upon our arrival. Food was phenomenal. We did order shrimp cocktail but it was not served due to Chef feeling shrimp were not up to his standards. Not many places have this kind of integrity! He did substitute it with a wonderful ceviche! We ordered several small plates and appetizers and all were beyond any expectations! Service was slower than normal but they were short staffed and more than made up for any delay with the great care and attention we received! So glad to see him in a full restaurant now! Will continue to make this a must do with every trip to the Big Easy!
We had 8pm reservations, first it took then 26 mins to get drinks. Based on that we ordered appetizers and main course at the same time. Appetizers took another 30 mins and the main course arrived at 9:45pm. When we asked about the delays the manager came by and told us they 2 more tickets ahead of ours which meant more delay.
I would not recommend this place to anyone based on the customer service because folks who came after us got their orders before us so basically I concluded they do not know what they are doing.
