The Carolina Inn has been helping brides and grooms fulfill their most cherished wedding dreams for generations. Our magic begins with a setting of historic Southern charm: Colonial architecture, immaculate lawns, and stately oaks and magnolias. Inside the Inn, the atmosphere of warmth and grace is accented by antiques and fresh flowers. We have intimate parlors, secluded garden courtyards, and expansive ballrooms. The Old Well Room, with its evocative 1920's décor, is especially popular for wedding events.

I ordered the shrimp and grits. It was a smaller portion then the last time we were there to eat. There was a small salad, and soup added to make up for the smaller portion. I would have preferred the large shrimp and grits that was listed for the same price at my visit before today. My friends sandwich bread was burnt around the edges which she discarded and did not eat. I also liked the atmosphere of the older bar that now is refinished into a more modern bar with less character. The waiter was excellent. Lunch was on 06/09.22 12:30pm.

The food, as always, was awesome! However, we were seated and then it took about 10 minutes for anyone to help us :/ Once our waitress came to the table, she was great, but it's always annoying when you sit down and aren't offered water or a cocktail immediately.

Whenever we dine @ Crossroads Chapel Hill...we always have a memorable and outstanding experience. Just walking through the lobby of the Carolina Inn and entering the restaurant gives you a sense of the history that has occurred there. The food is always excellent and beautifully presented. The staff is attentive and extremely accommodating. Lovely dining room that is classically decorated. I could go on and on...but, everyone MUST go for the food.

The brunch was very good and had a decent array/spread. Everything tasted delicious and I loved the assorted pastries/desserts, but I felt there could be more. There was no toast or bagels to go with the lox spread which was odd. Also before coming on their website, it said there would be an omelet station as well as carving station with ribeye or prime rib, both of which were not there. I thought it were a little on the pricier end to not have these items included, but overall enjoyed my experience and the food, I just wouldn't make this a regular weekly thing.

Unfortunately, we did not realize it was UNC's graduation day. EXTREMELY crowded in the Inn. We went through a sea of people to get seated in the bar. Our table was at the entrance and closest to the bar. People gathered to be seated at one side of our booth. Then we had people's buttocks facing our table as the crowd gathered and was loud at the bar. For the $$$, we had horrible ambience. Each time we went to the buffet, located down a congested hall and into a ballroom, we had to weave through people that were not eating the over priced Mother's Day Buffet. We were extremely disappointed to pay $367.00 for three people to have what we EXPECTED a nice, elegant celebration for Mother's Day. I would NOT recommend the Mother's Day buffet at the Carolina Inn as it lines up with UNC graduation.

My husband and I had friends in town and it was such fun to be at Crossroads. My best friend from NY was in town for a reception for the Dean of the College and Arts and Sciences in a tent at Carolina Inn and was able to come by our table for a hello after her event. Also a huge group of students ws parading past for a dance at the Carolina Inn. It was very festive!

We arrived on time but were seated 20 minutes late. The buffet was “picked over”. Some food was already drying out despite assurances that everything would be replenished and fresh when I called them before the brunch. We will not be returning to the Carolina Inn. The Washington Duke is MUCH BETTER that here.

The Easter buffet was fabulous! We especially appreciated the kid-sized and child-friendly self-serve buffet and the shrimp and grits bar, but the shrimp and desserts were also wonderful! Table service seemed a little slow at the hour we went. Wish we had been told to go ahead and hit the food tables without waiting for our server.

The young lady that was our server made my part of 4 feel better than family, friendly and efficient. The Easter Brunch was so nicely decorated with so many choices. I have gone to many and this one was in the top 5 for choices, Friendly servers, great choices in all categories, and delicious desserts. We will be be back next year for sure if they have it again and brinf another couple or two

Valet service was excellent. Food was great. Was disappointed that it was very cold inside and service was lacking from first onset, we were told we would be texted when table (reservation) was ready, but weren’t texted and after I went back to check was told their system was not working great. Sat at the table which was set sideways (bars were where legs would be, so we had to manually rotate the table and move place settings to be able to sit at table). Waiter asked for drink order but never told us about buffet, etc.; it was our first time there so we just wandered around to start. Would expect a lot better service for the price. Nice to try once, but for the price is would say that I wouldn’t do it again.

In the past, before the pandemic, the food at the Carolina Inn was, I thought, very good. Not so anymore. Perhaps they've lost their chef. I don't know, but something has happened. The quality of the food has gone way down, while the pricing has climbed upward. I ordered the "catch of the day" which on that evening was flounder. It was overcooked, too salty, and accompanied by a mushy, bland tomato sauce and rice that might have been just fine had it been served in a restaurant in the 1950's. Others at my table ordered the house-made pappardelle. The pasta itself was just right, except that it was left in one big clump, stuck together, under a dirty looking sauce of yellowed green peas and mushy tomatoes. We might have done just as well to have stayed home and eaten frozen TV dinners. Conversely, the service was excellent, and the dining room is very pleasant, although we miss the old colonial decor of the original.

I went to Afternoon Tea with my sister, daughter, and neice. The food was excellent but there wasn't enough in my opinion. It felt like they should have served enough that everyone got to try everything. For example, we were a party of four, so there should have been four of each sandwich. The tea was excellent. Everyone received their own personal pot and we all shared. It was a little crowded though. There were little kids running around which spoiled the ambience of a quiet tea setting. We just wanted a nice quiet conversation but there were so many distractions; servers bustling about, tables too close together, and, like I said, little screaming kids. I wish there was separate space to see young children. And I would have liked more food for the amount of money I paid.

It’s basically a hotel restaurant which is meant to serve guests. Very basic. The online reviews are over hyped. It felt like a basic “Holiday Inn” breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, grits, sausage, breads, fruits. Don’t recommend.
