Croham Hurst Golf Club is a friendly and welcoming club that was founded in 1911. The 18 hole, par 71, parkland course was designed by Fred Hawtree and five times Open Champion, James Braid. Whether on the course or in the clubhouse, there is a sense of history, and a wonderfully warm sensation of being completely at home. It is a very special corner of Surrey, close to London and Croydon, boasting the outstanding natural beauty that once adorned most of the county.

When I phoned the week before to increase numbers I was told I didn’t have a reservation? Disconnect between Open Table and CHGC or internal communications problems? I was a bit concerned at this and with a number of friends turning up, I went to CHGC on the Friday to get reassurance that I had a reservation. On the Sunday the food and service was excellent as usual. Overall numbers were disappointing for what is a top meal and excellent value for money. Could have done without the challenges of booking. On a similar event at the back end of last year my booking request didn’t reach the restaurant staff. Seems to be a recurring problem which maybe contributes to the low numbers?

The food is lovely and good value for money. It needs more work to create better ambiance possible some music, decoration, etc to make it more lively. At the moment it feels like eating in a hall cafeteria. I think it has great potential. Needs more marketing. I don't think many people are aware that they could book a table without being member of the golf course.
