Belated birthday night for my wife. Everything was great overall - biggest complaints, which really aren't, is that the salad dressing was too light/not enough flavor, and the carrot cake, while good, was not what we were used to. Overall, we definitly plan to go back and keep working through the menu!
Excellent setting, comfortable, friendly, and a delicious meal.
Pizza- thin -topping thin(as tho only painted on with a brush
Pasta dish - small, ground pine nuts a thin scattering , asparagus a stingy amount and completely raw shavings as tho scraped off with a carrot peeler - no taste of asparagus (nor anything else to tell the truth)
Beet salad - mostly greens, not much taste
Chicken - very small, mostly bones, not much taste
Service - the staff people very nice. But they brought out dishes for three separate people with long waiting times in between so each person felt guilty about eating while food hot, while the others were not served for a long time. Then at the end the busboy cleared plates completely leaving the last person served still plodding thru alone - while the restaurant seemed to wish they could get at the table.
Comfortable sidewalk dining. Had table for 8 dining. Brunch menu small but varied & food well prepared & tasty.
First time eating at Creekwood. We were very impressed by the food and service. We'll definitely be back soon.
Great food and good service!
Enjoyable evening all around
If I am not going to get at least one of those
I just as soon stay home
Tonight we got both !!!!
We tried Creekwood for the first time last night and had such a great evening. The food was amazing (we had pizza, burrata, and crispy brussel sprouts), but the service was even better! Our server, Sonya, was just about the nicest person I have ever met, and the owner stopped by out table multiple times to make sure we were doing okay. He even set us up our own heat lamp when it got dark. We ended the night with homemade carrot cake that was out of this world. I'd go back just for the carrot cake.
Couldn't recommend this place higher 👍
Pleasant environment, excellent food, good service.
Food was really good. Service was fast and good. It was a little cold and loud outside (as it’s right on Sacramento), but kind of expected given the location. I’ll for sure come back, want to try Brunch!
I took my daughter and her boyfriend for dinner at Creekwood Restaurant. We were looking for a relaxing and yummy place to have dinner after an exhausting move-in to Cal. We had 7:00 PM reservations on the patio. There were only two other parties on the patio when we arrived, but it took 10 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order. The food was good, a bit on the pricey side, but solid. We ordered an appetizer, entrees, and a couple rounds of cocktails/wine/beer. My real complaint is that we had just stopped eating at 8:19 (79 minutes after sitting), and a man, not sure if he was a manager, host, or owner, came up to us and asked us if we were planning to have dessert or coffee or anything else, because there was another party that had dogs, who wanted to be seated, so they needed our table because they couldn't eat inside with the dogs. I have never been asked this question in a restaurant, and I resented being asked and rushed to leave after only 79 minutes. We will not be returning to this establishment.
Because we were sitting outside in front of the restaurant on Sacramento Street it was a bit noisy and unattractive so I can't speak for what it would be like inside. Nevertheless the food was quite tasty. I'd give the highest rating to the brussel sprouts as appetizer! Fried chicken sandwich was also delicious; my wife liked the gnocchi with pork and we both liked the flourless chocolate cake! I definitely recommend Creekwood.
As usual, the food and service at Creekwood are top notch! I will continue to enjoy it.
Had an amazing Mother and Daughter date. We live right down the street and decided to give Creekwood a try. The service was spectacular and very pleasant from making the reservation to arriving at the front door. Staff was super welcoming and waiter was very knowledgeable and pleasant. This will definitely become one of my regular Dine in choices!
Brussels sprouts were the best that I have ever tasted! Pizza yummy.
Save room for carrot cake and a cup of good coffee!
We celebrated our friend’s birthday over a delightful brunch with delicious food and incredible service. We dined outside and we’re very comfortable and the staff took all precautions to keep everyone safe.
Love Creekwood and so grateful they are open for dining!
Excellent farm-to-table cuisine. Our server couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend this out-of-the-way restaurant.
Went for brunch and every dish we had was a slam dunk. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and the service. Can’t wait to go back.
Creekwood is a winner - in every respect. The food is consistently good - and they offer a variety menu - very competent service and excellent surroundings. Eating outside on a cool night called for some heat and that was forthcoming. I always like going to Creekwood, and don't know why I dont go more often.
What a gem! We came to Berkeley for a show, and stopped here for dinner before. Everything was delicious and fresh. The restaurant itself is unassuming on the outside, and clean and tasteful in the inside. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was reasonably priced, and it looked like they had quite a beer and wine menu, but we weren’t drinking alcohol.
A date between my wife and I before everything shuts down from a pandemic.
If that was the last supper, it was the best supper
Great restaurant. Love sitting at the bar watching the food preparation.
Each time we attend- I find myself more and more impressed.
Had a lovely visit to the restaurant this evening. The food was nicely prepared and the service was excellent. The people who work there go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I will be back.
Loved our meal, but the restaurant was understaffed. For example, three people would get served their appetizers and the fourth waited ten minutes until we finally flagged down the waiter. We didn't get the anchovies we ordered on the pizza. The server was unable to check in on us. Too bad. Hopefully this was a result of a last-minute staff no-show.
Brunch, lackluster egg dish and slow service
At the time of this review, I believe I overheard someone say, Creekwood has been open a little over a year. Fairly new in the life of restaurants. My opinion is that they did a wonderful job of designing the space. The wood really lends itself to creating a warm atmosphere. I appreciated that they paid attention to detail, e.g., the heat lamps on their patio are hung from above rather than the more common standing ones that take up room on the floor.
I gave it a 4-star rating for ambiance only due to location, but not the restaurant itself; it's located off a busy street with not a lot else going on in the vicinity.
The staff was very nice and came around regularly. The restaurant wasn't packed at the time of my visit, nonetheless, I felt their attentiveness was sincere. They allow dogs on the patio and offer a water bowl for them.
Food items were fairly priced - and appropriate for the menu. The coffee and food however were...good. I only had coffee and a very simple breakfast and felt the coffee was lackluster, there's an opportunity for something that stands apart a little. I didn't ask what grounds they brew, yet I have found that we have several if not many local roasters, e.g., Verve, Chromatic, etc. that have outstanding coffee. Likewise, there was nothing different, special, or memorable about the food. It's absolutely more than a "diner", still there's potential to bump it up.
Would I return or would I recommend a visit...absolutely! Mostly because of the service and knowing that there are items I can eat, they do offer vegetarian options and are able to make at least a couple items vegan. It's a great place to meet with friends and on a nice afternoon, a place to stay on their patio.
Thank you for the kind and thoughtful review. Sorry that our coffee wasn't enjoyable to you. We will evaluate our offering and see if we can elevate that a bit. Thanks!
Enjoyed Creekwood on two occasions. First was with friends and they were able to accommodate with pasta dish using kale instead of pasta. The calamari, paparadelli, meatballs, and ragu without the pasta were wonderful.
The second visit was with 6. The food again was consistently great with standouts to the fried gnudi, brussel sprouts, truffle pizza, meatballs, and pork ragu pasta. Tried the ribeye steak and it was good but not standout.
Service was welcoming and efficient.
Thanks for the nice review. Hope you will come back and try our ribeye again. We want that to be a great entree for you and our guests.
Very attentive and intimate yet friendly
This is a lovely vibrant restaurant. For my taste the pasta was underdone. My experience in Italy is that even if they cook pasta al dente in water, once they cook it in the sauce it is soft, with the flavor of the sauce absorbed into the pasta. I realize some people like the pure al dente but I would ask them to cook it a little more in a future visit. The sauce on the meatballs was delicious and I loved the garlic bread they were served with. The apple crisp dough was not crisp and tasted like oats so was just okay. The serving staff were friendly and efficient but the noise (I know, very fashionable) caused a couple of communication issues. Even though the noise level is loud, once we were used to it, we could hear each other, which is not always the case these days. These small reasons are why I consider Creekwood overall a 4 rather than 5 star, but we will likely go back as I felt maybe it was an off day and the menu is great with many delicious sounding choices.
Our group enjoyed two pasta dishes and a pizza, along with the Burrata appetizer salad.
The food was very good. Our server and staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely return and recommend to others.
This place is a real gem - great food, nice service. Highly recommend getting a biscuit at brunch!
Another delicious meal, the pasta is just outstanding.
Lovely spot for a Sunday birthday brunch. Beautiful setting and attentive service. Eggs Purgatorio were excellent, as was the Acme Levain toast. Two orders of Avocado Toast with poached eggs were gobbled up. We indulged with a “dessert” order of cinnamon sugar beignets— spectacular! Good, strong coffee kept coming. Can’t wait to come back to try dinner.
This was our third visit. While the food was good this time, the dining experience was not great. It appears that the kitchen was not being properly ventilated. The room was uncomfortably warm, and when we left the restaurant our clothes smelled strongly of cooking odors. Our waiter was also somewhat surly. We will try again, hoping that these issues will be corrected.
This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere BUT is well worth a visit! The food was excellent (especially the agnolotti) and service very friendly and helpful. We ate everything family style so that we could try as many tasty dishes as possible (calamari, pizza and shishito peppers in addition to the pasta). My only negative comment (and it is a small one) the open door to the refrigerator room detracts from the overall warm but clean look of the restaurant.
At the door, the man who appeared to be the owner spoke only to my white friend, even though I (black) was standing ahead of her in line and had made the reservation. Pasta came out hard and undercooked and had to be sent back -- then came out undercooked again. The tomato sauce was nothing special, tasted like the generic canned Aramark stuff from my college cafeteria. The second time we found a unrecognizable flat rubbery object in the pasta/sauce -- unclear if it was a type of meat or not. We stopped eating when we found it, paid the full bill and left. This was our second unhappy visit here. Don't think we'll be back.
Food is really good, especially pastas and salads. It's a little loud for my tastes, but I get that's just part of the modern restaurant experience. We could hear each other fine, so no complaints there.
It was my wife's 50th Day and she wanted a special dinner with friends. Creekwood did not disappoint!!! The owner and staff were amazing and even let us bring in a 50th bday celebration balloon. All the food was amazing!!! Highly recommend Creekwood.
