Fantastic meal and wine! Enjoyed every bite & can't wait to go back.
met my friend prior to a show
The service was attentive and the food was wonderful. We always know we’re going to have a great meal at C&H!
We're very appreciative of the wait staff's ability to get us theater-goers in and out on time. Thank you.
Another fabulous meal before a Playhouse Square show. My restaurant week meal was an exceptional value with excellent service.
We are Playhouse Season ticket holders and went to dinner before the show.
This was our 2nd time at C&H and both times have been a wonderful experience. Servers are friendly the menu offers many options to please just about anyone.
Good food, close to theatre
Our experience was quite good. The food was delicious and we booked this reservation for dinner before a show. We arrived fifteen minutes early, advised of our plans to the staff, and they readily seated us. The staff was friendly and helpful. While our main meal seemed to run a little behind schedule, the manager was apologetic and in the end, did not cause us to be late to the show. Absolutely I will return and recommend this place: it helped created a really nice evening for us all.
save room for desert!
tried foods I would not make at home .YUM!
Great place to go prior to a show at Playhouse Square. Staff is sensitive to show times and ensure your check arrives in time. Food is outstanding and staff very attentive.
Nice space and excellent service. Although the food was very good, portions were small and pours for the drinks were flat out stingy and not indicative a restaurant charging top end prices. Also, no bread service is a bad look.
Excellent food and service, both meals, appetizers and dessert exceeded our expectations.
This was our first visit, but won't be our last. We had tickets to an 8pm show. When we told this to our server he assured us we would be on time. Three small plates, one shared entree and two deserts were all very well prepared, and more importantly very tasty. Really enjoyed the Crispy Pork Stack, and the Sea Scallop special. Service was impeccable, couldn't ask for more.
The Salmon was excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. We'll be back!
We had a lovely meal - we ordered items from the Restaurant Week Prix Fix menu. My pasta was amazing - the butter sauce was light and flavorful with lots of mushrooms and zucchini. My husband’s cod was cooked perfectly and the pickled onion accents were very tasty! I hadn’t had their creme brûlée before and it was wonderful. Our server was helpful and charming.
Was a great environment and the food was outstanding. They were able to make something that was kind of on the menu, but was specialized to something I really wanted and it was an amazing meal. Definitely will be back.
The best restaurant in the theatre district. A good wine list.
As always, excellent food, service and value.
Food and cocktails were very good. Service was especially attentive. Noise level was comfortable, appropriate for conversation. No negatives.
Great food and great service make this a perfect place to eat. The ambiance had a moderate noise level but separated enough to make a conversation easy.
My wife and I truly enjoyed our dinner. The staff helped us pick an outstanding bottle of wine and it went perfectly with our meal. The small plate we shared was delicious. The also had numerous gluten free options. The entrees were delicious. I would highly recommend Cowell & Hubbard.
Delicious duck and mussels. Good quick service. Relaxing upscale city atmosphere.
The food and portions expected. However, service is where it was not top of the charts. Due to our dietary needs and lifestyle we didn't order any alcoholic beverages. At the start of our dinning one visit from the waiter told us the specials then we ordered appetizers, salad, and main course all at once our waiter seemed to never visit our table. Also, whomever was in charge of pouring the tap water visited us once and we only had water. Very long wait time between dinner being done and plates taken (over 30 mins) before asking if we wanted a dessert menu (which we did). The seating in the half squares were awkward for my 6ft husband and felt like we were in everyone’s conversation and when others got up to leave in between the tables it was always moving the booth and a tight fit for anyone. How long was the pink salt on my table and who touched it / contaminated it? That’s all I kept thinking while the salt sits out customer after customer.
We went prior to going to a play at Playhouse Square. Food and service were wonderful without feeling rushed. Valet parking was very convenient and we received a discount on parking when having dinner. It’s our go to place when going to the theater.
When we arrived, the hostess was not able to find our reservation, made thru Open Table. Luckily I was able to find my confirmation email, otherwise, the hostess was offering our party of 4 only bar seating...not the best for conversing.
Food was very good. As was the service. We went there before a Playhouse Square as we've done before and it was a great experience!
Had a delicious dinner before a Playhouse Square show. Jacob was an attentive and knowledgeable waiter and paired our wine well with dinner. Scallops were sensational. Very happy with our restaurant choice and will be back.
Perfect place before the theater. Service was good and fast.
Cool place. Good food. A bit pricey. Convenient to shows at Playhouse Square.
Dinner post play with friends
Sean was amazing waiter and very handsome. We will be back for sure! This is my second time at restaurant in one week.
Always very good. Service is quick for theatre go-ers. Servers are polite and friendly and do a great job.
Actually very surprised at how quiet the restaurant was considering the layout. Chelsea was outstanding, we tend to talk a lot and not keep track of the ordering flow -- her timing was perfect and even when we weren't ready she was really great about it. Just a really good experience.
Tasty-quick -perennial favorite
The food, drink, and server were good as usual. I will note the kitchen seemed to be backed up, as it took notably longer to get food than usual.
The booth located at the front of the restaurant, nearest the entry door, is not particularly comfortable. There is only minimal space between the edge of the table and persons sitting on the bench seats.
Wonderful experience. Hard to beat before any show at playhouse square. Had the Bone marrow, fench onion dumplings, seared cod, spaghetti squash, and finished the night off with house made limoncello, sorbet and espresso. Would recommend to anyone.
Great food, great service, and an overall great experience for our Valentine's meal!
