As always, a very enjoyable evening. Went for dinner. Food is always cooked to perfection with complex flavors. Mark provided excellent service. He remembered us from the last time, where we had sat and also what cocktail we had. Incredible!!!Happy hour menu looks great too. Thank you everyone for your 5 star service.
We had such a wonderful time! Honestly food and service is the best we have ever received! Can’t wait to go again! If you haven’t been here it is a must do!!!!
Love this place, never disappoints! Drinks were great, wine selection great, and the food always on point.
I completely loved the restaurant style. As soon as my husband and I entered i was amazed by the decor. What did disappoint me was the size of the table they sat us at. I am wheelchair bound and it’s difficult to sit in small spaces or tables. The food was amazing, but my steak was not cook medium well. It was still bleeding and was too pink. The drinks were okay. The vegetables and mashed potatoes were amazing too. The best part was the attention and service they provided my husband with. It was his birthday and they made him feel very special.
First time there and enjoy the food and hospitality! Highly recommend Cowboy Star!
Absolutely the best place in San Diego!!! Hands down!!!
It was my first time and it was amazing. From the food down to the service. Everything was just amazing.
We had a wonderful experience celebrating our 2 graduates! All of the staff was so very hospitable!! And the food...outstanding!!
We celebrated my husband's birthday at Cowboy Star. I let the restaurant know ahead of time and they made personal touches by having his name on the menu and provided a "special treat" after dinner. The steaks and the preparation of it lived up to our expectations. We appreciated and enjoyed the green beans and mashed potatoes that came with it. We still ordered an additional side. For appetizers, we had to try 3x times in picking a starter because they were unfortunately out of the prawns and the quail items. We ended up going with their oysters. Not our first choice but still good. Their service was great, by checking in with us without overly coming by to see if each bite was good. The ambiance and care for customers as we're coming out of Covid restriction was at a comfortable level for us. We haven't dined in for over a year and it was a great experience and meal for a special occasion. Thank you.
I’ve been there 6 times now. It never disappoints. Worth every penny. Absolutely perfect!
Excellent service food and ambience. Consistently good over many visits.
Amazing service amazing food… very special 33rd wedding anniversary celebration!
It has been awhile since we have been here for obvious reasons. What a pleasure to return and have it be even better than it was before. The food is creative when it matters and always utilizes the very best ingredients. Obviously, the steak offerings are phenomenal but don’t overlook the seafood.
We’ll be back soon, if you haven’t been you should go as soon as you can.
Food was outstanding! We had a great time
Our server, Luis, was amazing. All his recommendations were spot on. Only issue I had was when trying to have a night cap at the bar we were refused service. Open seats at the bar, which is supposedly first come first serve, we tried to sit but the hostess said they were reserved. Then I asked if we could go back to my table for another drink, she again said no because we got up and it was now reserved for someone else. Spent $500+ on dinner for 2 and we were still denied to sit at a first come first serve bar.
Food was delicious, incredible atmosphere, staff and overall experience!
Best steakhouse in SD! Excellent customer service!
Very attentive service and delicious food
Adam our server was fantastic all the way around! The steak tartare and beet salad were great. Her ribeye was great. My filet was actually average, which I was not expecting (temp was correct on both, though). The banana dessert was very good, if you like bananas. Was a little bummed the Frank Family Vineyards Cab was out of stock, so opted for the Keenan Merlot, which was fine, as he makes great wines. I'll naturally come again.
We should have ordered a steak. We ordered scallops and shrimp. Our mistake. The service was outstanding, the drinks, homemade rolls and dessert was excellent. When you come here order the steak.
I have been looking forward to trying this place for years since I knew a cook who worked there. Well, I was disappointed with the blandness of my starter, then the strange oversalted puree of my lamb. The lamb itself was ok, didn't really have succulent flavor for med. rare but relied on the puree possibly. For dessert, the creme brulee was oddly very cold as if they got it from a freezer, not freshly made. It tasted nice though. For this level of dining this did not come close to standard expected for any of the dishes. I am guessing the lack of experienced cooks since the pandemic laid off their talent. When told about the issues, I received no apology by the waiter, he seemed mentally checked out and about 10 to 15 mins later I was suddenly approached by the manager who quickly apologized and had taken off some items for my bill which was nice. I wish the waiter at least apologized and explained he'd be getting the manager, basic service etiquette. I am not a picky eater so this was very surprising the lack of quality. The ambience was energetic, more casual than the price point, pretty interior. Love they played classics like Dolly Parton. I feel I may give it a second chance to redeem itself from maybe a bad night but there are other restaurants I recommend for steak and fine dining as of now.
Service and food was outstanding on all levels. We had a group of 8 and everyone had a wonderful experience.
Great place for a date night or night out. Quality food and service. Will be nice when the chef's table/prep table area comes back- cool to watch them at work.
Servers are so attentive to diners need and enhance the dinning experience with great service. Ambiance is great and food was delicious.
Steak was cold when it arrived and not as tasty as other nice steakhouses
This was wonderful. We went for my sister’s birthday, and since I mentioned it when we reserved they had a special menu that said “happy birthday!” At the top.
We had an amuse bouche of pea purée with asparagus and a small, delightful slice of radish. Then, we enjoyed half a dozen oysters and their dinner rolls - which were hot and came with seasoned butter. I had the Wagyu skirt steak, which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. My sister had the ribeye, which came with the same, and we shared the Mac & cheese.
The vibe is so cool, with a western theme and a mix of old classics and mid 20th century country music. Really fun spot. Can’t recommend it enough.
Amazing food and amazing service! Happy to have my favorite steak back!
Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Service was spot on, ambience was excellent, food was insane. Recommend 100%!
Cowboy Star is an excellent restaurant in all aspects. The staff is well trained, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, great presentation and cooked to perfection. If you want good steak with side dishes that dont disappoint... cowboy star is the place
I recommend this restaurant to anyone for a great night out
Service was a little slow. Great food a little overpriced
This isn’t a typical steakhouse or cheesy franchised restaurant. The architecture reminds me of a urban cowboy theme in Wyoming. Enjoyed the open kitchen and appreciate the quality of food and service. Definitely the number one steak house in San Diego. Do yourself a favor and dine here. It’s a wonderful experience and brings back so many memories for me, especially in this new normal!
Great all the way around! A must stop when we are in town!
Came here for a birthday and had a really great time. Brought an old bottle of wine and was able to pay their $30 corkage, which is very fair and I was grateful they gave us that option given they have a great wine selection. Wine service was excellent. Joshua, our server, handled the 40+ year old wine with care and extreme professionalism. We ordered oysters, spot prawns, salad, and dry aged steaks. We enjoyed everything! However the service is what really made the night special. We will be back!
Wonderful ambience and food and service!
Great food, great service, okay wine menu.
The food is extraordinary. The presentation is dazzling. And the service is outstanding. What a wonderful, truly unique, experience.
I had dinner to celebrate a friend's engagement and they took such amazing care of us the entire night, and the steaks were perfection. I would absolutely return without hesitation!
Birthday dinner for family.
We really enjoyed the service and the food was off the chart good.
