I didn’t think I would be crying over a Failed Thanksgiving Dinner plan at Covewood, but here I am. I made a reservation for my family of 4, my husband, a 7 year old and a 2 year old. Arrived at 7:30, ordered, sat and waited at the table with just BREAD for over 1.5 hrs…. All while another Family BEFORE us also waited for their food… and another Family 30 mins AFTER us received their Apps, First Course AND Entree! I locked eyes with the other mother that was waiting longer than I have… feeling the same pain and disappointment. Both or our families complained to the Restaurant Manager then walked out. We planned for a nice dinner, but left with a sour taste in our mouths after that horrendous service. If your restaurant cannot handle a Thanksgiving prix fixe dinner, then DON’T advertise it!!

Nice set up. Service was slow and no one was there . Pay resort prices . But would spend two hundred for a couple somewhere else . Had the pasta and shrimp she had the salmon . 1 Dessert and two drinks and 1 app . If we had two more drinks we be close to. 300 . So I guess you get my point . If your rich why not give it a try . Way more places with a bang for your buck .

Lovely little hidden gem, any local will feel like they are on vacation in their home city. I chose to sit outside and I imagine sunset here would be beautiful . Quiet & romantic.

We dined outside in the sheltered heated patio right on the bay beach. Beautiful ambience. Mike the server was attentive, knowledgeable, and had perfect timing. Would recommend both plates we tried, tasty miso halibut and the chef's specialty, Duroc pork chop. Delish. We're locals, glad we found it. We'll be back.

Food was even better this time than the 3 times before. Lovely place to visit with an old friend. We were busy talking, so the extremely slow service wasn't a big deal. My food came 15 minutes before hers. I waited because it was a salad but if hot food I wouldn't have been able to.

Empty restaurant but it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks. After 30 minutes and a talk with the manager we were finally able to order food. An hour after we were seated in this empty restaurant we finally got our food. Needless to say it was awful. Short rib bolonase with 1/2 inch chunks of carrot that weren’t even close to soft. We went through 3 servers during the meal as the original never came back to the table. We were introduced to a second server who never came back after that and then we finally plucked another one at random to help us out and he was actually good. At the end we were hit with a mystery 20% deliver charge and when I called the manager on it he said it was a big in the system and sometimes it would add that to bills. WTF? So I need to check my itemized bills everywhere on property. Beautiful property with horrible customer service.

Online the pictures and food look decent, throw all of that out the window once you arrive. The place was empty, host wasn’t at the host stand, host sat us right below the bar were there was a large group of people drinking and talking loud, the server took a while to get to us, the water was dirty so we ordered sparkling water, that was warm, the limes had dust on it, after we ordered food it took close to an hour for it to come out, once we received the food it was cold, had to send it back to the kitchen to warm it up, still it was lukewarm. The food did not taste good, the service was unacceptable, overall bad experience, would not recommend to anyone.

As a local playing tourist for a day, I didn't know much about Covewood. It was a pleasant surprise. The food and service were terrific, and the location and the decor blew me away. Covewood is one of those resort locations that locals will want to frequent.

Omar was our waiter, and he was excellent. This was a birthday celebration, and the attention to detail was important, as well as the timing of food arriving and keeping ice water ever full wt lemon slices galore. The table for 2 was at the northern end with excellent bay views for both. The food was delicious as we shared the Flatbread and Salmon Miso with noodles. The fishes arrived on time, hot and perfectly cooked. We never lacked anything while Omar cared for our ice water and lemon. The Happy birthday dessert warm lava cake n and ice creme arrived with an orchid topping of the beautiful handwritten Happy Birthday in chocolate across the bottom of the plate. It was served elegantly and as a surprise to the birthday guest. We give this experience a Five Star rating. I am happy to be a Resort Club member and support this wonderful restaurant and the holtel it is inside of San Diego Mission Bay Resort. I give the ambiance a 5 Star. It's a fine jewel along east Mission Bay, being quiet, beautiful, and worth time and money in today's bustling world. Simply loved the entire experience, as did the birthday guest.

We’d seen good reviews, so maybe our experience was a one off. It took 20 minutes to get service and then only because we waived someone down. Apparently, that table was not supposed to be in use. Not a good excuse, guys. The food was good, amazing salads. The view was amazing. ADA report. Too hard to maneuver if you are outside. The bathroom was too far away.

They were understaffed and it was painful to get waiters attention. It was like a drive thru experience. The food was bland had the shrimp pasta, no amount of salt pepper or cheese could save it. The oysters were warm and flavorless. I never received my beverage order , food came out at different times , there was 6 of us. The setting is beautiful.

Over-all meh. I ordered pork chop which was a large chop but dry. Ordered side of mushrooms. They were room temp when they came out. Hubby got bone in ribeye which was good. Daughter with halibut. Was decent. No bread service (is this weird for higher end restaurants—you couldn’t even buy it as add on). Just didn’t seem worth it for the price.

I ordered Ribeye medium rare. Once received I found it to be medium. After cutting all the way to center of steak I found it to be over done. I asked waiter to return to chef and prepare another steak. The server brought the same steak back and said “the cook said it was medium rare”. I was upset to have same steak returned after saying it was unacceptable. I promptly told waiter, “never mind” and returned order w/o compensation. Unacceptable for a fine California resort!!!

2nd time we've been there for brunch (only served on the weekends). Easter Sunday we made reservations as their website said breakfast menu or their $75 brunch (very heavy food). When we got there at 11:30 we were told it was brunch only. Scrambled to find another place. Yesterday we went at 9:30 after having looked at their brunch only menu. The menu was different when we got there but when we tried to order the quiche (on the menu) they didn't have it. We asked if we could get the lemon ricotta pancakes and the hash (on-line menu but not when we got there) the waiter check (took a long time) and said we could have the pancakes but not the hash. The pancakes were either the worse lemon ricotta ones I've had or more than likely corn meal pancakes which is how they tasted which wasn't good. Service was spotty. Bright spots were the ambience and the French toast. Sorry - 2 tries and never again.

Nice table on the patio. Friendly staff. A bit slow on the drinks. The pork chop was tasty. The short rib pasta is different than the last time…better when it had the pappardelle noodles and needs more sauce. Key lime pie is delicious!! Don’t ever get rid of it.

I ate here three times while staying at the hotel- breakfast, dinner and snacks at the bar. At first we felt the prices were high but the food and convenience made up for it. The portions were good and food delicious, generally not too salty. Ambiance was beautiful.

Really a nice setting and the service was good. The food was good but not great and I thought the portions were small. I had the quiche........it was small and it came with an okay salad......the plate was large and seemed a little bare. We also had Bloody Marys and they were pretty good. The big issue is that it is very expensive for what you get. We were there for breakfast and for 4 people it was over $150.00.........for breakfast that seems a little too much. We really wanted to like the restaurant because we live nearby and walk along the beach at least once a week. We probably will not go back because of the price......otherwise it is a great setting!

We enjoyed our visit. Cons: room was dirty. Food left on floor from previous guest. Ran out of TP no extra in room. Got violently ill from birthday dinner at Covewood (cioppino) Food was under spiced Pros Lovely property Was on the ground floor which was perfect as my husband is disabled. The spa was wonderful.

Michael was proactive and excellent. Without asking us, he was on top of everything. He offered an umbrella to make sure the sun wasn't hurting my baby or us while eating outside. He was knowledgeable how I want my steak be made. Love this excellent service. This is the 3rd night we have ordered bone-in ribeye steak. I always forget to take a photo because I'm always hungry but this time I remembered!!!

We love this place! Even though we are locals we enjoyed being a tourist in our own backyard and stayed in Mission Bay Resort. Covewood is excellent and great food. Our servers are superb! Especially Luis!
