   This was our first opportunity to have dinner at the Cottonwood Grille and we were looking forward to a fun evening as many of our friends had recommended this restaurant . When we arrived, we stated that we had a reservation made through Open Table and the hostess at the desk informed us that the restaurant was no longer affiliated with Open Table, and did not honor their reservation service. She stated that the restaurant has their own website for reservations. Because there were many people coming from or going to the Morrison Center that evening, I was concerned that our reservation would not be honored, but after some polite conversation regarding the confirmation I had received from both the restaurant and Open Table, she did seat us and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner in a beautiful environment .

   I had a 4:30 reservation on a Saturday it was very quiet . The service was excellent. we had leisurely romantic dinner and had plenty of time to make a movie afterwords.

   The service was impeccable. Our starter -- croquetas -- was unique and very, very tasty. Our Caesar salads were terrific -- whole hearts of romaine leaves; fresh, shaved Parmesan; whole anchovy filets; yummy, creamy dressing. The wine recommended by our server -- a California pinot noir -- was exceptional and one of the least expensive on the small but well-chosen wine list. The sides that accompanied our mains were really, really good, especially the broccoli. The proteins, however, should have been better. I had the pheasant in a cream sauce with wild mushrooms. My companion had a steak au poivre. Both were okay, but just okay. The sauces lacked zing and zing was needed to make this a truly exceptional meal.

   We left the kids behind and enjoyed a quiet dinner for 2. It was a peaceful location that reminded me of an elegant lodge. The service was excellent and the food was great. I had the Tortellini and the cheese sauce was flavorful. The chicken was cooked till it was soft and flavorful. The Cobbler was a great top to the experience.

   Started off with drinks in the bar. Was discussing wine with the bartender and how generous the pour was. When we got to our table ordered glasses of wine, the pour was not so generous. Waitress did okay, but the service was not what I expected for the Cottonwood Grille After dinner had drinks in the bar.

   Delicious meals, great selection of wines, great atmosphere, attentive wait staff. Wonderful dining experience. We will be back for more special occasions!

   Not the best food this time. Unusual for Cottonwood Grille. It is normally wonderful.

   Overall a delicious meal. There were two types of fish on the daily special menu that are more customary on Hawaiian menus, so it was fun to be able to enjoy grilled ono in Boise. The kitchen should work on their house salad ingredients, though. Packaged lettuce and a slice of tomato - I expect a variety of really fresh greens at a nice restaurant. Patio dining is lovely in the summer, with the water features and lush landscaping, overlooking the Boise Greenbelt. Excellent service.

   My husband and I took an out-of-town guest to Cottonwood. We all enjoyed our excellent fresh fish dishes and really enjoyed dining in the late evening on the porch. Cottonwood tree fluff was drifting through the air...you have to shield your food a little at this time of year, but it was atmospheric. I'll definitely go again.
