What Insiders Are Saying
We can always rely on Cotogna in the Financial District for an excellent upscale Italian meal.
My favorite place in SF
You need a reservation to get in for dinner and even then dont expect them to rush another table out for you. I had to wait 15 minutes for the table I reserved at 10pm. That being said it is worth the wait. The pasta was perfect, the wine was good and the desert and coffee really hit the spot. One of the best meals I have had.
The perfect place to celebrate my wife's birthday! Unpretentious relaxed atmosphere with outstanding food and service. 10!
Great restaurant and service. Always dependable. Very friendly
Unique combinations of ingredients and a creative array of pastas, and thin crust pizzas. A very good wine list. Open from 11:30am to 10pm, make a reservation early or stop by late afternoon for their Outstanding food! A very busy “hip” place to dine.
We were celebrating a milestone birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it feel really special. The food, wine and ambiance were amazing!!
Love this place! I go whenever I can!
Never a disappointment, food and service were great!
Cool atmosphere with fairly good food (I feel I have sufficient authority to opine on this topic since I am Italian!) and efficient and friendly service.
Delicious but bring back that original focaccia!
Always come here when in town. Beautiful produce, friendly service and lovely wine selection. Dreaming about the little gem salad with buttermilk. Only critique would be that the playlist was a tad pedestrian. Every song was a top 10 hit from its’ era which gets distracting.
Happily celebrated my husbands bday, it was divine all around.
my favorite sf restaurant. the service, food and ambiance are always stellar.
Good food but took them forever to seat us even though I had a reservation. They should have made those first two drinks on the house.
Service was outstanding. It made the entire dining experience special. It's a stand out in the city and makes all the difference.
It was absolutely wonderful!!
As always, the food and service is outstanding. Wish they could do something about the noise level.
The sardines were yummy!
Food was superb. We ordered three different pastas. All were perfect. We'll go back.
The restaurant is overpriced for what it is. Don't order sparkling water, as they charge $8 for a bottle of filtered water with added carbonation and don't advise their patrons of the price.
There are better Italian restaurants in the city.
Cotogna is a top-notch spot for delicious Italian dining. Dinner is more popular here but lunch is great too. Service is on point and the food is delicious.
$16 for water?!?
We have eaten at Cotogna for many many years.
I devoured my pasta. It was delicious. I will be back.
Outstanding culinary experience.
Wine was great; appetizers were great and the main courses simply delicious.
The food at Cotogna has, including dessert, no comparison whatsoever.
Place is cozy and gives you the feeling of a modern trattoria.
Service was excellent; we had the captain (a lady named Hannah; not sure if she was the captain) accompanying our dinner the whole time; providing explanations as per the wine and dishes.
We loved the experience.
Cheers too Cotogna.
The food was absolutely amazing! The service was a little disappointing.
Haven't been here in a couple of years but still love the space, ambience, food and menu. Took a partner who is new to the city and couldn't have picked a better spot to showcase. Didn't realize they didn't give bread at lunch but something that is a good excuse to go back for dinner.
Great Food and Service.... Always!
Cotogna is exceptional cuisine. Heirloom tomatoes with anchovies was an excellent starter.
All the pasta dishes are creative and delicious.
Our server was knowledgeable and could not have been nicer.
Consistently excellent on all levels—food, service, vibe. Warm and professional. Shouldn’t be missed.
Great experience.... amazing food... love Cotogna
Food was amazing. Staff was attentive and friendly. Ambience is elegant and cozy and prices are fair
Overall Cotogna is an excellent restaurant, in particular the food. From the array of antipasti to the pastas and the main courses it's a real treat to eat at Cotogna. Of course the pizzas from the forno are outstanding along with Estevan's foccacia. The service is fine and the atmosphere is vibrant. In short, people love Cotogna that's why it's difficult to get an evening reservation, particularly on Friday or Saturday. But they're open for lunch as well, so somehow you need to get there and enjoy the great selections of Italian dishes. You won't be disappointed.
We just loved our dinner !
Excellent Italian trattoria. The pasta was excellent as expected. One of the pork chops was a bit fatty but very tasty. The service was top notch, friendly, patient, and very helpful.
Service was very slow but food was delicious.
consistent perfection with my favorite egg raviolo
Loved it food is always great and fresh. Personal Servicer is excellent
We were celebrating Fathers Day a day early. I put that info in my reservation and the staff really rolled out the red carpet. My mom was able to join last minute and they were extremely accommodating, even with a packed house. Our server made some recommendations and we all shared several plates. Food was great! Service was excellent. They even switched out the place settings to say Happy Fathers Day, on a Saturday. The attention to detail was impressive. I would most certainly go back!
Our waitress was beyond amazing and made our experience that much better. Thrilled with everything, as always.
