Portions were quite small, menu looked promising but the dishes did not turn out to be good. Service was satisfactory.
Delicious, inventive, creative, artisanal Indian dishes that we loved. And we're from NYC where there are a lot of great Indian restaurants. The Aloo Gobi, 5-stars. The Dal, also five. Loved the Shrimp and Grits as my dining companion doesn't eat meat and it's hard to get ham- or pork-less shrimp and grits in Charleston, so that was a real treat--creamy grits with delectable shrimp and some interesting stuff on top I could not identify. Picked vegetables were excellent. The one dish that didn't come together for us was the trout... a bit dry and the coconut coating just didn't read. I will come back here as the food is really, really enjoyable and there are other things on the menu I want to try. I think they are still relatively new and they are still working out the details as service was kind and reasonably attentive but a teensy bit slow. Oh! And we had an apple creme brûlée that was scrumptious! Great place! Excellent funky play list adds to the artisanal atmosphere.
Love this place but it was cold out last night and we sat outside. Heaters didn't help much and the outdoor metal furniture isn't comfortable. A tablecloth and some pillows for the chairs would help. Food and drinks were delicious 😋
Great food! Will definitely go back
Wow! We have been looking for a spicier option for our dinners. Coterie did not disappoint!
Ambiance - we were at a high top near the bar and other than some louder people seated at the bar, the setting was excellent. Great lighting, plants, comfortable seats.
Service: excellent - guided us through the picking both drinks and food in a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic way.
Food: wow! Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. I went to bed thinking of it. Everything we ate was delicious, great portion sizes and if you like spicy, ask for the green Chili sauce.
Charleston is lovely, but there’s a lack of spicy and ethnically diverse food. If you’re looking for either of these things, consider Coterie the answer!
Not quite Indian cuisine in the ''classic'' sense, but fusion-Indian of sorts. Very interesting drink/cocktail menu; some HappyHour offerings but only at the Bar. Dinner menu sort of limited and missing some typical Indian treats and including an odd entry (BEEF). Service was amazing. Quiet enough for a business dinner with private conversation and hot having to shout over music.
Came here for brunch and enjoyed it so much that we came back for dinner. Erin was our waitperson for brunch and Natalie was our server at dinner. All the food was awesome. I would describe it as "New Indian cuisine with a Caribbean influence." Chef Clint is originally from Trinidad and those influences show through in the food. Some fun creative cocktails and short curated wine list with some very interesting choices. Highly recommended!
The chutneys were wonderful, very flavorful food and calming / romantic atmosphere.
Very accommodating (we had a baby with us). Server had fantastic recommendations for cocktails. The okra and lamb were amazing.
Absolutely divine small plates and main dishes. Good cocktails and helpful staff!
Pricey, small portions for Indian food. A nice place tho.
We sat in their covered patio/bar as they are a couple of days away from opening their indoor tables. Even though the weather was bad we were very comfortable. Started with happy hour cocktails which were very good. Had the yellow lentil and the ribs as our appetizer. We ordered extra rice because the lentils were amazing and we didn’t want to miss a bit. Ribs were good as well. Our main course was the Tikka Tikka and we loved it. Service was really good, very attentive including the chef stopping by to discuss how he prepared the lentils because they were so much better than we have had before. Turns out he doesn’t use any butter or margarine and that made them so much lighter than other recipes. We will definitely return on our next trip to Charleston. Note for Indian food lovers - this is a Jamaican chefs take on Indian dishes, not the kind of heat you are used to. Very tasty food.
Blown away by the meals. Flavors were expansive, familiar and creative. Ambiance was music and lights and patio. Would redo in a heart beat.
Excellent food and phenomenal staff. We will be back.
Food and drinks were delicious and unique. Very cool place. Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing! The food, the ambience and the music make coterie a very comfortable place
Wonderful new Indian cuisine. Interesting flavours and choices. Everything was delicious.
The perfect patio for a gorgeous Saturday lunch out in Charleston. Been wanting to try this little place for awhile and I'm glad we finally got there.
Friendly service, fun cocktails and tasty Indian food with a southern twist. Had the brunch sampler that our server recommended and we were not disappointed. Could eat their okra every day! And the pumpkin spice chutney had just the right kick. We will be back.
Awesome experience start to finish! This won’t be a hidden gem much longer.
Grat drinks and unexpected flavors! A must try. Love the location and outdoor seating.
Our table was too big for a party of 4. Table was broken and chairs were very uncomfortable. Was offered to be moved to a table for two which would have been too small for a party of 4. When I called to confirm my patio reservation I was told our table would be in the covered patio area but that did not happen. Service was disappointing, but food and music were good.
Great cocktails, food, and service
We love Indian food and in Charleston… it is VERY limited in that regard. This place would be considered more of Indian “fusion”, basically Indian with a plus! Not only was each dish unique with it’s own Indian twist but the cocktails were off the chart! They had a Bourbon Rye Manhattan style drink with a Banana flair… WHAT?! And a refreshing drink that had tequila/bourbon and cucumber…. DELISH! The outside covered area was quaint and cozy with excellent tunes laid down in the background. We both said this could be our new favorite place! Cheers!
Terrible do not go
Brilliant Indian/low country fusion food and delicious imaginative cocktails. Funky outdoor space - on a perfect night magical. Service probably meant to read as laid-back but can come across as lackadaisical.
All around an excellent time.
Wil was a great server! The good was delicious and wonderful flavors thank you
We were a party of 9 to celebrate my wife’s birthday and they absolutely crushed it. The food, drinks, ambiance, and service were fantastic. We will definitely be back.
Our entrees were brought at half hour intervals. The last was brought over an hour after ordering, in a cardboard to go box, as we had theater reservations. Thete were apologies, but no offer to comp anything,
Worst service ever in a Charleston restaurant.
Only on-line menu, to read on your cell phone. Didnt bring mine.
Those who got food and ate while the other two watched said the food was good, if overpriced.
A decent restaurant would have comped the entire meal.
The cocktails were outstanding. We loved the food and the portion size. Coterie turned out to be a great find. We will be back.
Great tasting food, cool patio, and friendly service. Pleasantly surprised and will be back. The trout, drinks, and pickled veggies were awesome.
We were there for 3hrs! It took over an hour to get our appetizers, and another hour and a half to get our food. Food was very good but very small portions and expensive. Not a good experience at all.
Excellent food, service, drinks and courtyard!
It’s a great atmosphere and great cocktails!
One of our new favorite spots in Charleston. Great food, great drinks, great vibes!
While the food was fine, unfortunately the restaurant had a hygiene issue. After two rounds of dirty dishes given two us, instead of an apology we were made to feel we were in the wrong. Cutlery with food residue was told to be “vintage”. Would not recommend!
Fantastic service and food. The staff really wanted us to enjoy our experience and were very accommodating. An extra nice touch was so nice to find a beautiful, cloth, ironed napkin at the place settings
Food was great! There was good Indian spice on everything we tried. A lot of very unique dishes and very flavorful. The music on the patio can be loud if you are under one of the speakers, but other tables away from it are perfectly fine. The cocktails were also really good!
My only complaint was on service. We had a party of 6 and there was a 15 minute gap between the first dish and the last dish being delivered to the table, so several people were already finished with their meal before some ever got their main course.
Overall though, a great spot and I will definitely be going back again.
Great customer service, pretty good food, and great drinks & atmosphere! Definitely recommend!
