Service was a little slow and I complained to the manager and he was kinda rude on his explanation. He ended up giving us 20% discount which it’s fine but all we really wanted was a simple apology. Not so sure why it was so hard to just say sorry instead of making excuses and discounting our bill.
Great restaurant experience. Excellent food and good service.
Top three dining experiences wife and I have enjoyed as a couple. Been together 5(+) years. Discussing what we’re getting next time already.
We've been to Coqueta many many times, both to the San Francisco location and the Yountville location. We had previously visited the Yountville location during the pandemic, but this was our first time visiting the San Francisco location since they re-opened during the pandemic. WOW what happened!?! The food was nowhere near their usual, very very disappointed. We ordered:
1) grilled octopus - was burnt, chewy, dry
2) croquetas - were not really croquetas, but some mush deep fried, didn't have the usual breading and the filling was not grounded.
3) patatas bravas - oily, but were the best of the day
4) shrimp - served in a soup of oil & sauce
5) pluma - was ok, smaller serving than usual but tasty.
7) Flan - dessert was good.
Wine selection smaller than prior.
Our server was MIA the whole time!
I love love love Coqueta! I ordered the patatas bravas and mushroom paella. Patatas bravas 10/10. Mushroom Paella 10/10, if you do not add all the mushroom oil.
As for drinks, I ordered the red sangria and a gin based cocktail that had 2 layers to it (sorry cannot remember the name). The red sangria 10/10, the gin based drink was 3/10. Note: if you enjoy the taste of Starbursts, then you will love the gin cocktail, it was too sweet for my taste. If there was some acid or bitters to balance out the sweetness, I think the cocktail would have been great.
The menu is delightful. The small plates are delicious—flavorful and inventive. The view over the bay can’t be beat. A little pricey but overall worth it for a special meal.
They missed one of the items that we ordered ... service was good otherwise
As usual the team out did themselves. Beautiful set up that felt very safe in these strange times of a pandemic. What a treat to sit under umbrellas on the pier overlooking the bay with a barca. Harry, joe, the chefs, and the entire team did a spectacular job. The food was as outstanding as it’s always been! We were taken care of in the best way. I look forward to returning again soon. Please take care of the Coqueta team and wear your mask so they can keep doing what they are doing.
The appetizers were amazing and our server was awesome.
This place used to be my favorite SF restaurant. There attention to detail is gone.
Food & cocktails were excellent! (Only meh tapa was the salmon on toast. Was too much like bagel w/ lox & cream cheese.) Sitting on the patio was breezy, but we were prepared with jackets, and there was a heat lamp. Service was friendly & not rushed (very Spanish!), but we were ok with that....Overall, highly recommended. Will definitely go back!
This was a great meal. We were seated inside and had kind and attentive servers. The food was even better than usual. This is a great spot for a date or other special occasion meal.
Coqueta never disappoints! Lovely dining outdoors experience!
Host did not give us indoor dining as preferred. Sat us in direct sunlight. Asked to move to open table under umbrella he said the sun would go down. Funny that it was 4 pm. 10 min later no water or wait staff. Another table in shade opens and he says he has promised it to someone else. I say we had a reservation and we have been there burning in the sun. He had no come back. If it wasn’t my husband’s birthday we would have left. Bus boy felt bad as he watched all my attempts to move he move a couple of heaters hoping it would block the sun but it didn’t help. At least he was being helpful.
What a disappointing experience.
We love Coqueta! It's as good as ever -- the food, the service, the ambiance. We have eaten everywhere and there are a lot of reasons why Coqueta remains on our go-to shortlist of Best Restaurants in SF. If you like Spanish food and tapas, this is a must try!
Due to COVID-19 our party decided to dine outside. The bay area had been exeriencing a heatwave for days prior to us dining at Coqueta's and I assumened that the resteraunt was equipped with the sufficiant amount of umbrellas to provide shade for it's patrons. The day of our reservation just happened to be the hottest day of the month at 93 degrees! I don't know if Coqueta was informed of this forecast or it was ignored but we were seated at a table with no shade under the scorching sun. The food was delightful, the service was good but the outside dining experience was outweighed by the lack of shade. Hopefully this has been addressed :(
Imaginative tapas menu and excellent service. I especially liked the bocadillo de la casa bikini. Yum! The chef's selection of cured meats reminded me of the cured meats we ate in Portugal, Spain, and Italy. Very good. Our only complaint was that the dishes were a little small, and there weren't enough umbrellas in the outdoor seating area, so we had to sit in partial sun on a hot day. We will return on a cooler day and try some other dishes.
Reservation was 45 mins late. Do was sub par. Had to send back the octopus dish because it was very fishy
Food was overpriced and very little sustenance. Our stomachs got sick afterwards.
We ordered a seafood Paella which when presented had an aroma of burnt food. The kitchen, waitstaff or server allowed the food to go out to a customer was inappropriate and inexcusable.
As I dug into the Paella to confirm the bottom was burnt, it was confirmed. I called the waiter over to show her the black rice, she immediately removed the dish and ordered another.
Love this place! Great food,
The service was horrible. Waited over 20 mins and nobody acknowledged us. Had to call a server only for him to say he will get someone. Waited again 10 mins and still no one called another server and he said he was not at my table but would help. The food was the worst I have been here a handful of times and food was always good. Not this time the food was horrible we left almost everything. Only to find a hair on my kale salad.. not sure what happened but everything was awful!
Great location on the bay. Cocktails were delicious.
Food was AMAZING, but the waiting time for every dish and every request was ridiculous. Coqueta should seriously consider hiring more waiters. They were too busy serving way too many guests per person.
Fantastic! Thrilled they are open during COVID. We nom’d on multiple dishes. Our 9-yr old is an adventurous eater which means we can really have fun with the menu.
We had a good experience overall, but the food was hit and miss. Some of the dishes were outstanding (pork shoulder) and others were flat out bad (fig and tomato salad). Pretty pricey for mediocre food, but the ambiance was lovely and they do a really good job with the outdoor heaters. Probably wouldn’t go again for a full dinner, but would stop by for appetizers and drinks.
The food was amazing. Cocktails were great.
Great night, great service and great food!
This was our 20th anniversary dinner. And actually the first time out during the pandemic. The outside seating is great. The food of course was awesome. Meat/cheese plate and the duck/pork meatballs were our favorite, oh besides the margaritas.
Delicious, great service, very social distanced. My cocktail was so yummy.
Amazing well distanced service. Attentive and the kitchen is still rolling out a delicious palette vacation. Just phenomenal all the way around.
Fantastic way to celebrate a family birthday, outdoors with social distancing and safety protocols! The food (and we ordered almost everything) was delicious, the service was excellent and the setting on the waterfront is very nice considering the traffic noise which died down a but as the evening progressed. Pre-Covid we had dined inside a few times and enjoyed it but I think the food is even better now!
We only ate tapas and pinxos so I can’t speak for their paella or large dishes, but the food was really boring uninspiring. They have quality ingredients, but feels like chef has no imagination and not good compared to Spain. Go to Napa and eat at ZuZu for some really good tapas
Excellent food and service.
I never ate here but Open Table sent new a confirmation that I had. I live in NY.
Eating out in SF during the pandemic has been challenging. Coqueta has taken Covid precautions to the next level for diners. Each table has hand sanitizer in a cute perfume bottle and the table are situated more than six feet apart. I felt safe while still getting the experience of eating at a nice restaurant. Would for sure come back
The food was great! Some of the dishes I didn’t think matched the listing price. But overall great time and staff was amazing!
Great service and delicious food!
In the direct sun, it was very hot and became uncomfortable. Umbrellas would be helpful.
