We are Mauna Kea guests, dinner was for my birthday, we were seated in the bar area (which is fine) but then sat there where i had to ask for each service, from water refills to ordering and then all the food came at once (apps and entrees) and then needed to ask for utensils. We have been coming to Copper Bar for several years and I’m just disappointed. To top it off, no mention of my birthday… i had to beg for the check and we just quietly signed for room charges and left.

Taking the nightly shuttle from Westin to here was a great decision to come here for dinner. We could only make reservations for 8PM but they were able to get us in about an hour and a half early. Good was stunning and very delicious. Service was great as well.

Walking through the space during the day, the ambiance had promise. We went around 8:00. Lighting was not optimal at that point - either too dark or harshly bright. Everything we ordered was overly salty…remarkably so. Unlikely to return during our stay.

My wife and I are full-time residents of the Big Island and dine at Copper Bar often. Copper Bar is located in the beautiful Mauna Kea Hotel, is covered by a roof, and yet is still open to the ocean so that the diners can enjoy beautiful views and sunsets and not have to worry about the weather. The food and service are always excellent. One of their best features is live music with a hula dancer, nightly.

We always enjoy the Copper Bar. My husband ordered a beet salad with chicken for $31. It was tasty though tiny. Suggest a review of portion size! I had one of the sushi rolls. They are also pricey $26-$30 approximately for one, but delicious.

The place is beautiful with indoor outdoor seating and gorgeous decor and ambiance. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food, however, was disappointing. The calamari were tiny and over breaded with little taste other than the sauce provided. The seafood bisque was missing something, maybe a little cognac? The steak was not very flavorful and the sushi not very inspiring. Overall I would recommend for drinks but not food.

Waitress had no personality. Food was below average and for the price should have been much better. People were trying to enjoy the gentle music and dancer and a rude guest let his kids run around screaming interrupting everyone trying to have a nice dinner, no one stepped up to ask them to keep their toddlers from ruining the show and yes multiple people were very irritated. It was a terrible experience for two people, especially for a price of a $200+ dinner! Go down the road to Mauna Lani— a completely different experience worth every cent.

First time visiting Copper Bar. We weren’t staying at the resort and just went to check it out for drinks and dinner. Very nice relaxing and upscale vibe with live music performed at the perfect volume level. We had the sashimi sampler appetizer and it was very good (Tuna, Salmon & Kampachi). We then had the Plumeria and Spicy Tuna Maki rolls and really enjoyed both of them. My daughter also had a prosciutto & pineapple flatbread pizza which came out with a crisp crust. For drinks we did the margarita and their custom version of an old fashioned (something bonfire?). We enjoyed everything and will definitely be back.

We have stayed at the Mauna Kea for years and eaten at the Copper Bar many times. Our reservations were made well in advance and had put in the reservation it was my husband’s birthday. Albeit that, they sat us at the lower HH bar table as opposed to a dinner table. Extremely UNCOMFORTABLE for full dinner dining. The food was mediocre for the price point. Service was great by our waitress but the other waitstaff had to be asked to clear the extra glasses, plates, etc. our dinner was brought and just put in put on the table where there was no room to place our dinner. After dinner since we had told them we were celebrating a birthday, we expected a little something but there was no mention of it. Ambiance was do so as we were in the very front corner so we couldn’t see the musician at all. Just the hostess stand. We will be frequenting the hotel again soon. We might skip the copper bar for dinner this next time.

Absolutely fantastic! This dining experience earns a solid 10 out of 10. The talent on display was remarkable, with both the musician and the dancer adding a delightful ambiance to our meal. Delightful dinner-- not terribly expensive for the venue, and definitely worth the cost, especially since we were able to explore the grounds before and after! There was live music and it was just the right volume (not too loud). Service was also terrific, and the food was delicious.

We were asked to wait for 15 min past our reserved time. The sushi wasn’t particularly flavorful and they were out of jalapeños, a main ingredient in one of the rolls. Additionally, they were out of green beans, a central ingredient in another item we ordered.

This is the first place we go to after our plane lands from California and we make our Costco run. Its like the Big Island is welcoming us home with delicious food, beautiful sunsets, Hawaiian music, our favorite hola dancer and great service! The cook always creates some of the tastiest fish specials…….We are very Blessed with Copper Bar!

We had reservations at 7, took a little bit longer to be seated (10min wait). Our server Robert was amazing though once we were seated. We got the chefs special and it was fantastic. I’d also highly recommend the KFC. They had a singer and a dancer there which was a nice touch. Restaurant is on the water in the hotel. It is pricey but that comes with being in Hawaii.
