Convivo is a Santa Barbara restaurant and bar with an Italian soul. Chef-Owner Peter McNee's food is best described as ‘Nomad Italian’. It strays from the standard or traditional Italian, sourcing inspiration from many other cultures’ cooking but its soul is thoroughly Italian. The ever-changing menu includes small plates, housemade pasta, wood-fired pizza, rotisserie chicken, fresh seafood and steaks served family-style. McNee’s all-star supplier network provides the freshest produce and local seafood the region is famous for.

Inspired by the bounty of the sea, the lush farms and abundant vineyards nearby and the cooking methods of Italy, Convivo is a festive gathering place for locals and visitors alike inside the newly-restored Santa Barbara Inn.

Food is not freshly cooked. It came out about 5 min after we ordered a meal for four. The ribs weren’t baby back as advertised. They were spare ribs. The food is precooked and then wood fired to heat it up. No depth of flavor on the food. The service was mediocre from the host/hostess and the waiter. Great scenery is the winner here. That’s it. Maybe just drinks at the bar. Don’t eat here. Not worth the money on your time.

Food was amazing although ribs a little dry which were taken off our bill without asking. The lamb meatballs and carrots were incredible (thank you Jeff for the recommendation!). And the chicken - wow! Wait staff were really stretched when it got busy however Jeff was wonderful throughout the evening. Def recommend!

Convivo is an ocean-view restaurant in the Santa Barbara Inn. The staff was exceptional, starting with the valet parking gentlemen. There are many interesting items on the menu. I chose the house salad, grilled asparagus, and chicken focaccia sandwich for lunch—all ingredients were extremely fresh and delicious. For beverages I chose a non-alcoholic ginger drink and coffee…yum!
