   This place came highly recommend I wanted to like it but the table had flies or gnats buzzing around. The lasagna was underbaked and it was the number 1 dish I was told to try. The appetizers and dessert were fantastic. Overall though I came away disappointed

   Colletta is amazing! Not only was the food and service wonderful but they gave us actual gifts for our birthdays! We indicated on the reservation that we were both celebrating our birthdays so they messaged and asked our hobbies. We responded that we both love travel and they got us a portable charger and digital luggage scale! The lasagna was fantastic as usual. The ravioli with mortally and pistachios was incredible. The staff is always so nice! This is our go-to for special occasions!

   Service is great and the food matches that. It’s a special event place for my family as it’s expensive, but it’s been worth the splurge every time so far.

   The service was excellent but the entire menu is completely overpriced. $18 for a spritz, $35 for a pasta dish with 5 shrimp. I knew the pricing before we made the reservation but the food was not good enough to support that pricing in my opinion.

   I’ve been to this restaurant a dozen times since it opened. Unfortunately, more often than not, my table isn’t ready at the time of my reservation. I’ve waited as long as 20–30 minutes in some cases, with the most recent wait around 10–15 minutes. While occasional delays are understandable, it’s frustrating when a restaurant that enforces a credit card hold for no-shows consistently struggles to seat guests on time—it doesn’t reflect well. Service quality has been inconsistent, ranging from very good to underwhelming. On our last visit, we were seated at a table behind the host stand that had a large crack, which caused the wine glass to wobble and spill during pouring. While we’ve had some excellent service in the past, the overall experience has been about 50/50. The food is good and has noticeably improved since opening. However, I do miss the olive oil that used to be served with the bread—the current butter spread doesn’t feel very Italian. I genuinely want to see this place succeed, but with so many new options opening up, it’s getting harder to justify coming back regularly.

   Food was great, but highlight of fhe evening was Carly, who made sure we had an excellent experience, and my Mom had an excellent Mother’s Day dinner. They were also very conscious of allergies.

   It is not often that a restaurant achieves equal marks for both outstanding cuisine as well as outstanding service. Colletta’s in Cary is the exception. Carly was our server extraordinaire and everything we ordered—from focaccia with olives to oyster fritti to tagliatelle to tilefish—was exceptional. And the desserts scored high marks as well. Definitely and highly recommended for celebrating special occasions.

    Colletta had been on my must-try list for months, boosted by glossy social posts and “best new restaurant” blurbs. Reality, however, never cleared the bar. Portion-to-Price Disconnect Our evening opened with a single appetizer that looked lovely—but disappeared in three polite bites apiece. Things didn’t improve when the mains landed. The food occupied only the center-inch of a very wide rim. When a modest starter, two undersized entrées, and one glass of wine rang up to well over a hundred dollars (pre-tip), the math felt insulting. Flavor Nothing was disastrous; unfortunately nothing was memorable either. Sauces tasted flat, salt timid, herbs shy.. like a hotel banquet’s notion of “Italian.” At these prices my palate expected layers of brightness or depth; instead it got perfectly ordinary. Atmosphere & Service Credit where it’s due: the patio is gorgeous—string lights, cushioned chairs, and just enough distance from the parking lot to feel like a tucked-away courtyard. Our server was friendly but stretched thin; empty water glasses sat untouched, and entrées arrived before starter plates were cleared. Overall Colletta sells itself as elevated regional Italian, yet delivers shopping mall caliber cooking at boutique hotel prices and tasting menu portions. I left lighter in wallet and still ready for takeout. Unless the kitchen rethinks seasoning, serving sizes, and value, the only draw here is a pretty spot to sip an overpriced cocktail in the Fenton evening air. Verdict: Come for the patio if ambience is all you need. For dinner that satisfies both appetite and budget, look elsewhere.
