Awesome hidden gem
The ambiance is nice, upscale without being stuffy, and quiet enough for conversation. However, the food was just okay. At upscale prices, you hope for something a little special in the food, and I just didn't find it. Our server was very noticeably gruff and unfriendly for no reason we could figure out. (I can't imagine he's always that way or else he couldn't possibly keep a server job more than a day.) It also took longer than average for our entrees to be served - we weren't in a rush, but it felt like an unusually long wait for food on a Tuesday night. Other than the server's very unpleasant demeanor, there was nothing really bad about the experience here, but it's too pricey to just be "okay," so I wouldn't choose it again.
We had been to Cole's a couple of years ago and were very pleased with everything. This time the food was lacking. My fillet and my wife's duck were cooked nicely, but the sauce on the fillet was virtually non-existent. The sauce on the duck was not good and unexpectedly spicy. My polenta side was pretty tasteless and once again the sauce was virtually non-existent. The brussel sprouts were very hard and inedible because they very very sour.
Came from out of town and was going based upon the reviews from Open Table. Disappointing is the best way to describe. Food was mediocre at best and the prices were above and well beyond the value. I don't mind paying for good food but Ido mind paying a big price for mediocre food. I would not recommend this place. The server did a commendable job and was very pleased with him.
Great place great food great server
I have been visiting Lexington for over 40 years and this was one of my best meals ever.
Terrific atmosphere and must visit spot
I shall return even if I do not have 50 words to type
Foof food food food food
My favorite restaurant in Lexington. Food never disappoints and service always impeccable.
Our friends were in for the races and they only want to go to Coles 735 Main. They will start reminding us to make sure and make reservations. We are more than happy to do so because it is our favorite restaurant. From start to finish it was superb. The drinks were fabulous. The wine list extensive and we were happy. Our appetizers delicious, hot and shared by all. Our entrees were varied. The filet was pronounced the best Scallops delectable and the new chicken dish was a success. Hot breads with butter was enjoyed by all and then our wonderful waitress brought more. A very happy group of people. We will be back.
Excellent staff, excellent wine. I personally just do not care for a “pan-seared” filet mignon. Personal taste. Appetizer exquisite.
Always excellent! Ordered an inexpensive meal off the bar menu and were still treated as if we spent a lot more.
Great food, great service, wonderful bourbon selections!
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend.
Filet mignon is best in town!
Always to delicious delight to dine at Coles! We travel for 7 hours to dine with Cole at least once a year and worth every mile!
Great place. Have had several wonderful meals here over the past two years - and will be back for more next time we're in town. Not the least expensive place in town, but if you are looking for a great meal and/or have a special occasion, Coles 735 Main is the place to go.
We love Coles and our friends love Coles. What's not to love? The food, service and atmosphere the best. Our server Jared was great and the food OMG let's discuss the incredible food. We always have a wonderful time and leave looking forward to our next visit.
Coles 735 Main is wonderful. Our family and friends all agree that if you want a fantastic dining experience Coles is the place to go. The filet continues to be a favorite among all of us but we do groove with the specials and have never been disappointed. The in house breads are too good..you just want to sit and eat bread and butter. Our server Garrett was terrific and our wine and cocktails were excellent. We said no to dessert until we were told about the cheese cake and then we all indulged. Cole we will return .
Garrett, our server, did a marvelous job! He's very knowledgeable, personable, and made great recommendations. I'd never tried a friend avocado. It was served with panko, ahi, and a delicious sauce. Very creative and tasty! The mushroom ravioli was and earthy, yet delicate and the fish special was also good. I keep coming back, because Cole's doesn't let me down.
Great food, very good service!! Nice atmosphere, would recommend you go at least once..
Made reservations for a work dinner. Great atmosphere, not too loud. Wonderful wait staff and great bourbon selection!
Outstanding food and service!!
Food is always class in a cozy and warm environment. Great wine list as well.
Date night. The food was just OK and the ravioli was super over flavored. You couldn’t really taste the mushrooms, only the orange zest. The pork chop was cooked well, which is hard to do so kudos, but the flavor over the sauce on the chop wasn’t anything to write home about. It took us 17 minutes to get a bottle of champagne and waters. Overall, not great, which was super disappointing since we had heard such great things about it.
Everything was wonderful as usual!! One of my very favorites!
Absolutely the best wine and food I have had in Lexington!! Jared was amazing.
As always, Coles is absolutely 5 Stars: excellent service and great food. You always feel welcome and special at Coles! Hard to beat anywhere in Lexington.
Great meal!!! I love this place!
If I could give Cole's more than 5 stars, I would! We live out of town, and make a point to get reservations whenever we are in Lexington. Excellent service and delicious food; I can't say enough good things!
All a very good experience- food, service and atmosphere.
A bit disappointed, we have visited several time and always very good food and Excellant service. They ran out of one special before 7:00 when Restuant half full and not in full swing. Service mediocre and dinner wasn’t good. We order a lamb rib special that had a dry rub that just wasn’t good. The meet texture was rubbery, very disappointing. Appetizers we very small but good. Over priced drinks and dinner for what we received. We also noticed menu totally changed. Used to be one of our favorite restaurants but very disappointing experience this time.
Good meal generally but the beef shoulder in my braciole was fairly tough and had so much garlic that I wasn’t that crazy about it. My husbands halibut was delicious and cooked perfectly.
In town for a business trip from AZ. It was a wonderful meal. The waitress was excellent along with all the employees.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. One of my favorite places to eat.
The food, the wines (and I am from the wine country in California!) and the Bourbon tasting were superb. John, our waiter, was absolutely outstanding.
Thanks for a memorable experience. Next time I am in Lexington, yours will be my first stop after landing... ;)
Coles is our favorite restaurant in town! Best food in this price point by far!
Incredible! Can't wait to return.
One of my favorite restaurants! Food is always fantastic!
Best overall dining experience in Lexington by far! We love this place. Everything is amazing, service and food are always outstanding!! Can’t wait to go again and try something new!
Coles always pleases. It’s our go to place for great food and cocktails. Never had a bad meal, ever.
Great service, great drinks and the food is so good we were already planning our next visit. Chef Cole stopped by our table to check on us. Thanks Cole we will be back.
Food overall wonderful. One order of duck was medium instead of medium rare. Wine list needs more choices under $50.
