This is my second visit and it is a complete opposite of the experience the first time. I finally tried the Sangria and it was not good. It was bitter and had far too much ice. The food was close to but not quite as good on this trip. There was only one person working there and he didn't know how to mix the cocktails and we had to go to the bar in order to place all of our orders. There is a reason this place is never packed and I now see why. You are only as good as your last impression, and I might give it another chance to relive that spark of my first visit 3 weeks ago.

The food was great, don't expect to get full from one or two items, it's a small plate restaurant. The cocktails were excellent, no skimping on the booze. The music was a too loud to have an intimate conversation but this would be a great spot for a group looking to pregame with a few bites to eat before partying.

Basically, Coconutz is a club. The bouncer, the shape of the two bars (one in front and one in the back), the unconcealed DJ booth, the private nooks for bottle service, and the flashy lighting concept suggest that this place is where people go to get down late at night. That being said, the food is really good, although it's served on these warped bamboo plates that don't sit flush on the table. The shrimp is especially good and I would order it again. In terms of service, the staff is extremely friendly, if a little inattentive. And as one would expect of a bar, the drinks were fine. An app, entrée, and a drink will set you back about $60 (per person, including tax and tip), so it isn't exactly cheap, and I'm not sure it's worth it.

the Dancer pie was the worst dessert I have ever ordered - it was simply 4 slices of banana on a small crust with a little tasteless sauce. Get it off the menu!!!

The food was good. Although our dessert's container had the production date sticker still on it. We ate the 5 day old brownie anyway. The staff was nice, and very interested on our thoughts about the restaurant. My only advice to a restaurant group who tailors to people in their early twenties is to stop trying so hard. If you want to be a fancy restaurant, be a fancy restaurant. Please don't be a fancy restaurant and a night club all at the same time. Your staff will be more relaxed and the atmosphere will be a lot better. Also, what was up with the make-shift kitchen in the back area?

The food was slightly above average quality but the atmosphere was a lot of fun. They had live music and good service. Considering that it is in the heart of the Gold Coast night life I was surprised how empty it was for a Saturday night just before midnight. I would recommend going but I would not call it "can't miss" dining.

I came for the Chef’s Tasting which is held every Thursday night and was beyond impressed! Chef Sean creates not only delicious, but 12 beautifully designed plates that are paired with the perfect wines – The ambiance is very warm and welcoming, which is wonderful to find here in Chicago… especially during the cold winter months! I love the bars on Rush and Division St. and Coconutz Chicago is certainly a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Count me in for more visits!
