The menu at Coconut Lagoon features an array of vegan, vegetarian and classic dishes along with some unique twists and blends. There are three onion fritters to start, fresh soups made each day, crispy lentil doughnuts and more. Main dishes include thali dishes, specialties like uthappam and sides that ensure any meal at Coconut Lagoon is satisfying and unique.
The food was delicious! We came for the thali and were surprised lunch was a buffet. It was good but we were a bit disappointed. I don't recall a mention on the website saying lunch was buffet style. It was good nonetheless and my guest, a vegetarian, was very satisfied.
Casual and easy, yet super tasty. Staff is professional and the place looks great.
Awesome selection of foods on the menu that are professionally prepared. Great service. Nice clean restaurant with great ambiance. Super nice service staff.
The food was fantastic! Nice ambiance. Will be back for sure.
Food was not truly authentic in flavors. Portion sizes do not justify the prices.
Authentic food with excellent flavour and wonderful prompt service.
A wonderful variety of deliciously prepared foods offered at brunch and a joy to bring friends for their birthday.
Delicious food with a nice selection of dishes vegetarian, meat, poultry and seafood. Fantastic and friendly service.
We never eat until we're full, never mind beyond eat until we're beyond full, but we pretty much rolled out of this place, we couldn't help ourselves. The main courses were phenomenal, and exceptionally well priced on top of that. We just moved to the city and despite this place being 27 mins from our new home, we'll be back often.
Wonderful veggie thali! I had the lobster masala and it was divine. My friends had the salmon and paneer dishes, which they found okay. Instead of dessert, I went for the chai tea, which tasted more like steamed milk tea (couldn’t really taste the chai spices and cardomom). I’d come back to try more dishes.
Excellent attentive service. Food very good. Will certainly go back
Since they renovated, Coconut Lagoon is not the same: First, they've crammed waayyy too many tables into the small space. Second, the entree prices at dinner are unreasonably high. I may return for the buffet (only available for lunch), but certainly not for dinner. And third, they charged $6 for a bowl of rice (!) and $6 for two pieces of bread (!!) WITHOUT checking with us first! We only discovered the extra charges when the bill arrived! Not cool, Coconut Lagoon.
Friends from Toronto and Hamilton insist we go to Coconut Lagoon at least once whenever they are visiting. One receives good advice when selecting dishes. Always a great experience!
Perhaps we had heard too many outstanding reviews about this restaurant and that raised our expectations too high. There were some excellent elements in our dinner (Chef's daily soup was one and the eggplant side dish was another) but overall, we found the food dishes to be "good" ... not "very good", but just "good". We have had better at other Indian restaurants here in Ottawa ... and for less money as well. We will go back and try other dishes ... it was a Sunday night and perhaps this had something to do with it.
Outstanding dining experience with innovative choices....love it
A person would have difficulty finding better food at any restaurant in Ottawa.
We have been to Coconut Lagoon several times, but were disappointed on this visit. The butter chicken was a bit dry, we were so close to the other tables that we could hear their conversations (which meant they could also hear ours), and we felt the food portions were small for the price.
The food was very good, especially the lamb pops. The waiter made some great suggestions for meal choices. The restaurant is nicely decorated, but like many places in Ottawa, the tables are too close together. You hear everyone else's conversations and it is difficult to have a conversation with the person at your own table. A bit more space would have enhanced the experience drastically.
Splendid buffet, fresh and delicious. Courteous, quick service. Reasonable prices. A national treasure.
The food is always delicious! Each dish with its unique flavors. A pleasure!!
Great food, great atmosphere - as always! :) :) :)
If you haven't yet been to Coconut Lagoon, you are really missing out on an exceptional dining experience. The food and the service are exquisite. This is a restaurant that truly cares about the customer and it shows in the wonderful food and beverages that they offer. You will not be disappointed when ever you visit Coconut Lagoon.
Great restaurant, food and service is always the best!
Excellent food and service. The owner takes your order and makes sure your experience is memorable.
Great service and best Indian food in Ottawa year after year.
I reccomend that you choose Coconut Lagoon for a meal. You will discover South Indian cuisine done by Chef Joe Thottungal who by the way just released a cookbook. Great services and excellent food. Make a reservation before going, it is always packed. It out of the downtown beaten path, amd it is worth the detour.
Saturday buffet outstanding value and superdelicious. Popular place, even on July weekend. Tops for South Indian cuisine in Ottawa.
We have been to Coconut Lagoon 3 times now. It has become our favorite Indian restaurant in Ottawa. We appreciate the timely service, but most of all, we love the distinct tastes of the different dishes. Very good. Yum.
Our lunch was outstanding. The service was perfect. The food selection was amazing. The quality and the taste of the food was excellent.
Great food and solid service. A little pricey but worth it!
We have been going to Coconut Lagoon for many years now and their quality and consistency has been outstanding. Some of the wait staff have been here for years as well and that speaks to loyalty and good management.
Chef Joe T. And his crew have been very accommodating and attentive to my family and friends varying tastes. Recently, our 2 yr grandson was with us in a group of 10. We asked for a papadum for him and they brought 3 no charge. He loved that.
The food is authentic (I was raised in India) and varying degrees of flavors and burn. Always excellent.
Food was delicious - flavors of each dish were distinct and not 'muddied" (i.e. different dishes taste the same) as they sometimes are at some Indian restaurants
Excellent as always.....great selection of diverse foods
Excellent! all the way around. Very tasty food! Will be back for sure!
Excellent food and service. Best Indian restaurant in the Ottawa region
As always the food and service were excellent. This was the buffet and is always up to a high standard and slightly different each time.
The buffet was excellent. In spite of every table being occupied, the line up was very quick and the service outstanding.
Great food. Great service
Awesome meal and great service ... not disappointed as usual.
I was disappointed with the food. The lamb biryani was dry with under cooked rice. The duck breast had no duck flavor.
The ambiance and service was excellent
