About this restaurant

  • Good for groups
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for outdoor dining
Nestled in the heart of Little Italy and overlooking the Piazza della Famiglia, Coco Maya offers a contemporary twist on classic American dishes. Our diverse menu ranges from light coastal cuisine to robust, flavorful proteins cooked in a traditional Spanish-style coal-fired Josper oven. Additionally, we pay homage to our neighborhood's roots with several Italian-inspired entrees, featuring unique takes on flatbreads and pastas.

As part of the Grind & Prosper Hospitality Group, Coco Maya is an evolution of our original concept, Miss B’s Coconut Club in Mission Beach. Since our inception, we've continued to explore new flavors and culinary techniques while broadening our scope and enriching our cocktail program. Coco Maya boasts a diverse mezcal and tequila selection, alongside the delicious tropical and rum-based cocktails that have become synonymous with Miss B’s.

Open daily for brunch and dinner, with a weekday Happy Hour from 2-5 pm.

The place is cute but crowded because it is small. The food was basic and pricy. I ordered the lobster eggs benedict which was pretty pricey, but was so bland. The lobster smelled and tasted like old seafood with a rubber texture - I would not recommend. Both of my daughter’s meals were also not that great. We also waited over 20 minutes for our check because our server pretty much just disappeared without mentioning anything to us. We had a different server help us with our check. Go for the ambience bc that’s all that there is to it. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I had to for this one.

Such a fun and cool spot to eat in Little Italy if you’re looking for a rooftop bar and restaurant with great drinks, tasty food, and good music. I love the tropical décor, It really makes you feel like you’re on vacation, especially if you get the frozen coconut margarita! The chilaquiles are also bomb. Just a heads-up: if you’re sensitive to the sun like me, outdoor seating can get pretty intense. Other than that, you can’t go wrong dining here and our server was great and very attentive!

Apon arriving around 10:12am for my 10:30 reservation I noticed the door was locked. Mind you I am here to celebrate my birthday and my sister n laws birthday with my 2 children, they do have high chairs but i do not recommend this place for children. they have no kids options so we had to order a side of hash brown bacon and eggs which came as individual sides so we had sooo many plates on our table including the 4 that come with the table. ANYWAY, once i got there an called the number the phone rang and rang and went to voicemail. then the VM said it opened at 10am. I noticed the girl up top (Tessa or Theresa) making the patio and said Hi i have a reservation at 10:30 and she said “ok. we open at 10:30” to which i say “your VM say 10” and she rudely replied we open at 10:30. mind you i have a toddler and a baby, NO Stroller! so i am carrying my child on my hip. I go across the street to wait to 10:30. Once we arrived at 10:28am the place was open and already the patio for low tops was full. I requested a low top on my reservation for outside seating. she offered us a hightop! i have a toddler you think that is safe? i thought it was harmless and hilarious she would offer that knowing i would need a high chair for the baby. (She also did not offer one, i had to ask for one once we were sat inside away from the outside breeze) i was already not feeling it. the place is beautiful but it also hasn’t been dusted in so long. it really needs a good wipe down on all the nick naks they have. cute but dusty. I feel like the this place although the servers dress super casual if you dont look like your “selling sunset” then they really dont give two effs for you so keep that in mind. the food was okay, but my lobster was small, smelled and tasted fishy and felt liked chewing 3 hour pre-chewed-up fishy bubble gum. i spit it out and sent it back. the cook ramon was nice and i felt bad but i know seafood and this was not fresh and definitely old. All and all i wasn’t happy. end

Extremely slow service. It seems like the manager had a huge party with all his friends there and didn’t staff properly. Food was okay, drinks were just okay and overpriced. It took 30 minutes to get my cocktail from the time I ordered it, and half the items on the menu that I ordered weren’t in stock. I will definitely steer people away from this restaurant.
