The food is always perfect every time we go... but the noise makes it very hard to have conversation without having to yell across the table.

Our server was fantastic. My friend was late arriving and my server got me something to drink and watched for my friend to arrive before she placed my order for the best appetizer ever, the trout dip. I could live on their trout dip! Then we enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the patio of crab cakes and seared ahi. This is one of the best restaurants in the OC. Always great service and the food is delicious and expertly prepared.

Disappointed because we usually have good experiences at Coastal Kitchen. This Father's Day was quite different. We made the reservation weeks before and requested a booth (knowing they can't guarantee one). My wife arrived while I parked the car and was immediately seated at a two person table in the noisiest apex of the restaurant. Then they realized they hadn't cleaned the table they sat my wife at so she had to return to the hostess station while they did. There she asked the hostess for a quieter table or booth (like we had requested) and was advised that a booth would not open up for 45 minutes. So, against my better judgment, we took the noisy table. Between the music soundtrack, the bar and the hubbub we could barely hear each other and had to ask our server to repeat herself when ordering. Five minutes after we ordered a booth opened up adjacent to us and a couple was seated there. Wish we had voted with our feet instead of enduring the wall of white noise.

I have been to this place many many times over the years and always enjoyed my experiences. The food has always been solid and the atmosphere great. This particular night was an utter disaster which could have been easily avoided by using some common sense. We had a late reservation (7pm) for 4 people and planned to show off one of our favorite places to friends who drove down from Newport Beach. They were celebrating their daughters graduation from medical school. We decided to bring a few bottles of very expensive wine to celebrate. We weren't sure which bottles we would decide upon so we ended up having 4 bottles at the table with no plans to drink all of them. I have done this many times in the past at CC and always paid the corkage fees and tipped very well. We also order plenty of appetizers and entrees etc. Not only were we chastised by the manager and told about their strict 2 bottle limit policy but he refused when we offered a taste of the SQN we opened. Additionally for reasons beyond explanation they decided to butterfly the pork chop so it came out extremely dry. I have never had this occur before and the pork chop is usually amazing. We had to send it back... Through it all our waitress Megan was wonderful and dealt with the ridiculous overreaction to our planned celebration by her manager with class and professionalism.

Great service and sat outside for lunch very enjoyable. Chicken sandwich a bit bland and veggie burger very messy. Generous portion of coleslaw but way too much mayonnaise. Coffee is a K-cup Starbucks. Not sure this is a repeat for us as $23 sandwiches? But wait staff one of the best we’ve encountered recently.
