Close Harbour Seafood
Lump crab salad, avocado, tomato, red onion mango salsa, sriracha aioli
Garlic, shallot, roasted red tomato, capers, artichoke, lemon & linguini
We sat outside and there were only people sitting at 4 tables. Our food was very good. It took a long time to be acknowledged once we sat down. It also took a long time to receive what we ordered. We were apologized for the long wait several times. This was our first time time here, but unfortunately, not sure if we will return.
The food and service is always top notch😃
Close Harbour is one of my favorite seafood restaurants. Food is excellent and everyone is so friendly.
This was me and my husbands first date night out since the beginning of Covid. We were apprehensive at first but immediately felt safe once we got into the restaurant. Everyone was being cautious and tables were well spaced. We had a wonderful meal and it was nice to be out again!
The only thing I would say, is the fries were barely warm. Other than that the food was very good. Service was good. Loved the new outdoor patio.
First visit and will definitely be back. Opted for outdoor seating when booking but when we arrived the hostess didn't know we had reserved for outside. I wonder if they plan to accommodate these requests at a busier time. We were sat quickly on their outdoor patio which was clean and nice. Our server was great, friendly, and very personable. She made sure we were satisfied and didn't make us feel rushed since we took our time. Manager came around a couple times to check on us as well. Cocktails were tasty. Complimentary bread and butter was very good. NE clam chowder was delicious, creamy, and chock full of good sized clams. Oyster selection was great- fresh and served with a mignonette. Fried sea scallops were excellent, not overly breaded while well seasoned. However, the old bay fries accompanying them were wayyy too salty. Mussels were good, cooked perfectly with sausage and a smokey broth that was tasty. Delicious garlic bread to dip. We also had the bam bam shrimp which was like a thai chili buffalo shrimp blend. It was tasty and cooked perfectly but sweeter than anticipated. Will definitely be back with family to try dessert and other dishes and probably get some of the fresh seafood they sell in the storefront.
Enjoyed our dinner on the new patio. Tables are nicely spaced and service was great.
First time out since Covid hit. We chose outdoor dining, food was very tasty, staff was slow at first but made up for it they out the evening. Made recommendations for that evening and for future visits
The service was very good The oysters were huge, which is why we went there. A friend had recommended it so that we could simply try them. I did order 6 and could not finish them. While they were huge they were not really suitable for eating raw. More suitable for fried oysters or oyster stew. The fired clams and calamari were crisp when first served, but within minutes turned greasy. Cannot really recommend this to friends.
Great dinner and creative drinks❣️will be back
Lovely outdoor setting and great food
I ordered the fish and chips which were very good. We were the first to arrive for the lunch seating outdoors. It quickly filled up, so I would recommend reservations.
I saw a man enter the restaurant area without a mask. In addition, a woman with no mask picked up an order outside. She spent a great deal of time talking with a staff member (who was wearing a mask). These issues were not addressed which makes me a bit uncomfortable about returning to Close Harbor.
We made our reservation on Open Table and were quickly seated despite the restaurant being very busy. The restaurant was rebuilt after a fire a few years ago and the decor is very clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. The seats are a combination of benches and chairs and the whole place has a very cozy feel. Our server, Jessie, was noticeably one of the best servers I've had in a while. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Our reservation was on the later side for dinner and she informed us of menu items that were going fast - ie last 2 servings of boulliabaise, order it if you want it! The entire staff was excellent but Jessie in particular was attuned to what was going on in the kitchen and attentive to all of our needs, all with several busy tables. Also, we were not rushed at all, and made to feel welcome to relax with friends over a leisurely meal.
Now onto the food. First, everything was excellent and beautifully presented. I ordered the chocolate raspberry martini (picture) which was delicious and went down very fast because it was so yummy! I also ordered a half dozen oysters, and would recommend that they have their oyster choices on their specials menu rather than having to have the waitress give the list verbally. Having the choices listed with a description of the oysters, ie large, meaty, sweet, briny, etc., will help entice the brain to order oysters. I also ordered the crab tower (picture) which is made up of crab salad (not lump crabmeat like most restaurants), mango, tomato, red onion and avocado, with sriracha aioli It was a perfect light dish as I had had a late lunch. The aioli was spicy for my taste but as you can see, it circles the dish so I could avoid it as I preferred. The fish was very fresh. My husband had the crab stuffed flounder served with bacon wrapped potatoes. The bacon looked a little undercooked but his fish was also good. My friends ordered the boulliabaise and shrimp scampi, both of which looked gorgeous
Excellent Chowder and Shrimp Cocktail and a nice variety of other seafood meals on the menu. Service was excellent.
Nice dinner with friends. 2 had the cod which was good , I hade the award fish which was nice and fresh and 2 Diver scollops which looked great.
Chris our waitress was awesome.
Sluggish service; Nice menu options made unpleasant when served cold food by non attentive waitstaff on very quiet afternoon.
NE clam Chowder very good. Fig and Prosciutto arugula salad delicious. Our server was excellent. 5 of us enjoyed our meals and relaxing time together.
They would not honor the reservation. We still stayed there.
The food was excellent and prepared perfectly. The portions were large. Service was wonderful.
