Excelente servicio, la comida es deliciosa para compartir.
El único detalle es que llegue a tiempo y me hicieron esperar casi 15 minutos para que me dieran mi mesa. Fuera de eso, todo delicioso
Everything was great, the food was delicious the ambiance and music was really cool and everything seemed hip. But I made a reservation for 8:30 and didn’t get seated until 9:20. I thought the whole point of making a reservation was to not wait. It’s a great place, maybe a bit to expensive for myself, but the 50 min wait time really killed it.
Did not have our table ready even though we made reservation through Open Table. We waited at the bar for 15 minutes and eventually went back to the host stand to see if we could be seated and I think he had forgotten about us. They found a table, so we were able to sit about 20 minutes after our original reservation. Luckily we left enough time before needing to attend a show after dinner.
We got seated 45 minutes after our reservation. Not sure what the point of a reservation was. I was hoping to sit at the front of the restaurant with daylight. Instead we were seated at the back which is basically a dark club like atmosphere. Sushi was horrible. The hamachi jalapeño appetizer was a disgrace. The plate was covered with oil, brown and green sauce and the fish was literally below the sauce. It had no flavor and was rubbery. The La Jolla parkway roll had red sauce an inch thick along the bottom side of the roll. It tasted as bad as it looked. If you are a millennial and have no clue what good sushi is then this is the place for you.
We loved the place, great food & great ambiance👌🏽
Perfect Place for Girls Night Out! We loved it! Would Def Go Back!
The scallop and hamachi sashimi were some of the best I've ever had (and I've been to Japan many times). Service very good and the artwork (especially in the back room) very vibrant, but might push the edge for some traditionalists.
Lovely and creative cocktails, but small volumes for the price. Nice wine selection.
Dinner with drinks for 4 (shared plates) $220 prior to tip.
The A/GM Joe was the true example of hospitality. Thank you, sir!
Food was not very good. Sushi from Ralph's would have been better. Drinks were fine, service was great, live music not so much.
The Service and Food were Excellent.
The Ambience was Perfect.
We had a Wonderful dining experience at Cloak and Petal and look forward to dining there again soon.
Great food and sake!
Unfortunately our food came out in shifts, we ordered appetizers, and then our party of 3 ordered 3 entrees. My friends came out first, then mine 20 min later. We asked our waiter, who said they would just come out when yhey were ready. We were disappointed to have to all eat separately, but I had been there previously, and the food was great, so trying to be patient.
Then the 3rd 30 min later. And the third item, needed to cook tableside, and we were not informed of that. Which was going to take another 20 min to cook. So basically I gave up, and Ate what was left of my friends food.
Not sure I will be back.
The Food was amazing. Absolutely top notch. Place had a Vegas feel to it. Didn’t enjoy that. Lots of employees running around. Had to wait a long time to get anything to the table. Drinks were great. Over all a 7/10 I guess. Valet was a nice touch do to being in India St.
Food is great but overpriced. This is the second time we’ve been here and the service is terrible both times. This time my husbands meal came out 15 minutes before mine. Of course he wouldn’t eat it without me having my meal so his expensive steak dinner sat for 15 minutes getting cold while we waited. 3x the waitress and manager came over saying my dinner would be right out so they knew this was not ok but no sorry or compensation on our bill...won’t be returning here. Bad service once is one thing but twice in a row is not ok.
Great date spot, trendy atmosphere , needs a Dj. Just saying, music was on repeat. Not that music wasn’t great.
Drinks took too long
If you're in your 20s or 30s, like trendy places where the atmosphere and people watching is more important than the food and drinks, where sushi rolls are your thing more than fresh sushi/sashimi, than this is your place!
Oysters were fresh and terrific. Ordered the toro/belly sashimi plate....tuna toro still had membranes running thru it, and it was not smooth and tasty like other sushi places. Service by bar was mediocre at best. Bartender and staff completely overwhelmed on a Saturday night that I left early to go elsewhere where I could enjoy a quieter and better executed dining experience.
My girlfriends and I went to Cloak and Petal for my going- away dinner. I asked the waiter to choose the most delicious set of items from the menu based on what we like and any dietary restrictions and to keep the bill below a certain price point per person (not including drinks). He seemed a little new, so we were a little worried, however when he came back with our drink order he assured us that the manager would be choosing the best things from the menu for us. All of the selections were exceptional, not a dud in the bunch. We got everything from rolls to sashimi to dessert all of which was so amazingly delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned, flavored and constructed. If you ever go to Cloak and Petal, definitely try this Omakase way of dining and you will not be disappointed.
My wife had been there in January, so brought me along this time. We did dine at several other places during our stay in San Diego, but this was the best!
I was not expecting good food and I was really surprised. Great food and great service . They have valet parking
For the price of the sushi I wasn’t that impressed. Cool atmosphere though.
We had very good experience here. This is by far one of the best restaurants I have been in San Diego. Food and drinks were great. Staff was super nice and friendly. Thanks for making our experience memorable. I definitely recommend this place for Japanese Dinner.
The food was amazing. I loved the vibe of the restaurant and they played great music. Our waitress went above and beyond for my aunt when helping pick a wine. There was not a time that we didn’t have what we needed.
Delicious food at a good price and very attentive service
This is my first time here. I love the feel of when I walked in it was very welcoming. I ordered the oyster, wagyu tartare, ceviche and pork belly. Everything was so delicious I have a thing with things are too salty and this was not at all. The staff here were very kind and nice. I would definitely come back again and try other things on the menu.
Very nice place with delicious food and great drinks. I took my wife there for her birthday. This place has great service the hostess was very accommodating and our waitress was awesome. The chefs fixed the plates to a tee.
Fresh sushi, interesting rolls, love me a salmon collar!!!
Definitely going back soon.
Had a fantastic dinner here celebrating my college graduation! Great food and drinks!! Thank you!
We always enjoy our experience at Cloak and Petal
There was a mixup with the reservation but the hostess was able to make it work. The server was wonderful and fun. The vibe was really nice and food was delicious. We had the jalapeño hamachi to start which I really enjoyed. Then we had the La Jolla pkwy roll and another one with a habenero sauce (I can’t remember the name). Both were very balanced and enjoyable. I asked the waitress to pick a sake for me because I don’t know much about sake and she picked a perfect one. Overall a wonderful experience.
Boring and poorly tasting fish. Sushi rice was dry and tasted stale. What was once a fun sushi place has turned into an expensive mess.
Great food. A bit loud for conversation.
Food was a bit of a disappointment. While the drinks and service was good the rolls and appetizer we got left a lot to be desired. I would at most stop by for drinks at the bar and enjoy the cool ambiance.
