Excellent Grilled Salmon, Great Rice Pilaf.
Service was great. Food delicious. Beautiful scenery. Family oriented without the Applebee’s feel.
Can't believe after living here all these years, this is the first time I've been here. A little pricey but great views, great service and delicious food! Definitely a place to come back to on a special occasion.
We really did enjoy the Cliff House. It may have been a little pricey for what we had, but the food was really really good. I'll go back again. I see they have a DJ and dancing at 9:30 on Saturdays. We'll go for a later dinner and check that out sometime.
Food was great, wonderful view out over the water, we were there about 4:30 on a Friday and were surprised that we were one of only two couples in the dining area. We came an hour earlier than our reservation, but no problem. Margarita was more like a slushy, the fish and salad was very good, waitress misunderstood our order but remedied it. A Good place!
Terrible food and service to match. Would have been better off purchasing a frozen TV Dinner and heating it up in the microwave at home.
We came here for my birthday dinner, and I am so glad we did! Having read the recent reviews, I was worried that maybe the food was not as good as I remembered, but we decided to take a chance because I love the view. I was happy to discover that the food was just as good as the view. We went on a Sunday after church and could have chosen between brunch or lunch. We opted for lunch. The burger and the salmon pasta dish were both outstanding. The service was also excellent. We sat on the patio in the shade, and every moment was lovely.
I went here for my birthday. The server we had was very rude and unprofessional and the food took forever to come out..
Food was great and service great and music that bn played was nice .
We enjoyed our evening on the patio. Views were great and so was the service. Food came in reasonable time and was all good. We had a variety - salad, burger and two fish orders. I will definitely be back!
We arrived to a near empty restaurant for Sunday brunch at 12:30. Service was extremely slow to nonexistent. The manager did not seem to care that there were only 3 or 4 tables and the waiter was not taking orders. It took until 1:40 before our food arrived. . Despite the long wait, we were never asked whether we would like a second round of drinks. Food was marginally good, though my "medium" burger was cooked well-done and dry. When the food arrived, we asked for a side a mayonnaise, but this did not arrive until everyone was about done eating. This place has a terrific location. Too bad the dining room is wasted on a badly managed staff.
Food was great and large portions, ambience was really nice, view of the river is always special and our waitress was terrific. We would recommend everyone go.
This place has a great view and a good location but was very disappointing. The food was mediocre and the service was poor. The place was practically empty, only about 6 tables full but it took a long time to get our order in and at least an hour to get served. The crab cakes were cardboard thin and tasteless. It was only 8:30 on a weekend and they were closing. So much potential but future looks bleak.
Slow service, despite being empty. Over priced food that wasn't very good
When we showed up, the place was empty. I don't know if they were having problems with their A/C that day but it was kind of hot inside the restaurant. They sat us by the window that had a nice view of the river. The service was fast. I order one of their burgers and it was good. Fries were meh.
Sorry, I hate writing negative reviews but the food here was just awful. Wife and friend ordered shrimp with angel hair pasta. The shrimp was the super tiny variety, like you see occasionally used on salads. I had the jambalaya pasta and the chicken was terrible, dry and chewy. Would not recommend b
I was nervous after reading some negative reviews . They proved to be inaccurate. The restaurant was pretty empty so our reservations were not needed. The view was great. The food was well presented and prepared.
The wait staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall I would plan to go back.
My daughter and I came in for our first time as a send off to her being an only child. From the moment we walked in to the minute we left was fantastic. Brandon our waiter was phenomenal. He was attentive and welcoming. He made our experience over the top. We will be back. Thank you CliffHouse.
We had been to the Cliff House for a New Year's Eve party years ago. We decided to get back to it but things had changed. I ordered crab cakes which I had not had here before. There were 4 crab cakes but they were flatter than a pancake and about 3 inches in diameter. Even though they looked different, I stayed open. Unfortunately, if there was any crab it was so little you couldn't taste nor see it. 2 in our party ordered the jambalaya. When it came, it was watery like a soup and was made with noodles and not rice. We had never seen jambalaya made with noodles. 1 was sent back altogether.
It is a beautiful view but the food has gone downhill. We come from a distance of over an hour so we won't be back
WE have been to Cliffhouse many times as my parents live in Folsom. Normally we are happy with the service and food but the last two times we've been there, we have not walked away happy and satisfied. Normally I would recommend it but at this time I will not. First, we had to wait at the front entrance for much too long for someone to even help us. Secondly, it was hot and stuffy and we had to be moved. They said the air condition wasnt' working. It was my fathers 83rd birthday. The heat was not good for him. The gal that served us was doing her best but she needed help. We had a party of 14 and we spent a lot of money and were not happy. The kids drinks never came. Part of the order was missed. The fried prawns were over done. We asked for bread and butter and didn't get it until the end when we were pretty much finished with our dinner. When our bill came, we sat probably about half hour before the gal came back so we could pay. I asked to speak with a manager but no one ever came over to talk to us and we didn't want to sit any longer. It turned our fun night into a lot of waiting and a lot of noise because of a bridal party dinner right next to us. Was much too loud.
Beautiful views from the deck. Going to lunch after 1 p.m. during the week, it was very quiet and lovely to gaze out on the American River and rafters.
Terrible!! Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. I hope you get the idea.
We waited a while for our drinks as the server seemed like he was trying multitask while bar tending, and serving, and he had forgotten about us outside.
We also had to ask for napkins, silverware, and everything was not ready for us at all when our food came out and that also took a while to get as I mentioned he was busy inside serving, bar tending and getting the dance floor ready as well so we were definitely forgotten.
We would definitely recommend Cliff House. It's the second time for dinner on the patio in as many weeks. The patio view is amazing and the staff made us feel right at home. It's one of those places that can be casual or semi-formal, whichever you choose. Good food. Great view. Friendly and receptive team. Cliff House is an excellent place for dinner. (FYI, we live in Roseville and drive to Folsom, which can be a 45-minute drive with traffic, so we must like it, huh?).
The service was great and the outdoor patio is perfect for summer dining. The food was just OK. For the price the crab cakes seemed small, the seafood platter was so-so in flavor. The chicken lettuce wraps came with overly cloying sauces and crispy noodles (noodles not mentioned in description). Salads were fine. Would go back for drinks and a sandwich but not for the main courses.
We had a great time, great service and great food. It was our first time there and we definitely be back
Beautiful setting; we were on the patio, noise not problem, nice for families with (well behaved kids) , because they could move around a little.
We went to celebrate Father’s Day. When half of us first arrived at the Cliff House (we had a reservation) we were seated immediately. The other half joined us 5 min later, but had to come find us, because there was no hostess at the front. Unfortunately the table was located outside in the sun, under an umbrella that shaded only half of us, and it was very hot that day! So to avoid sunburn for half our party we asked to move to a table in a more shaded area. Our server proceeded to clean the only remaining table on the patio for us, and while she walked away, the hostess led another customer to that table. So, we ended up going inside where it was nice and cool, and still had a view of the river. Because of all the switching, though, it was at least 45 minutes before we actually were served from the time of our reservation... and we were very hungry by then. Great food! Second server was very good. View was worth the trouble. Hostess/bus boy situation could be a little more organized.
We felt forgotten by our server. I had to flag her down for water.
I ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad. It was very disappointing. For 14.50 you would think you would get more than a whole bowl of shredded raw cabbage with chicken breast. It was such a shame as the service and the view were phenomenal!
Terrible service. After we got our drinks, the server never came back to take our order so we left.
We couldn't relax due to a screaming child where the parents didn't seem to care.
The menu was not impressive.
The place was a bit run down. Never going back
The silverware was neatly wrapped in cloth napkins. All three of us had at least one utensil that wasn’t clean. My fork had something stuck to it.
The server immediately replaced everything.
The rest of the meal was enjoyable.
This is about someone being careless and quality not being monitored.
We went for my son’s 16th birthday with 10 family members. Service was very friendly and attentive. The food overall was average but the 3 chicken pasta dishes had chicken that was rubbery and had to be sent back. However, our waiter and the manager handled it very well and took these dishes off the bill.
Sunday brunch was wonderful. Slightly overcast day sitting over the river was beautiful. I highly recommend the Cliff House.
The Cliff House is not the same Cliff House that it used to be. The crab cakes so so flat and tasteless. We were so disappointed.
The food was delicious, however we had 5pm reservations for mothers day dinner. We arrived at 4:30 thought we would have drink in the bar before dinner. But there was a sign on door saying they were closed from 2pm to 5pm and they did not open doors until 5:01. A swarm of people waiting outside rushed in and we still had to wait for our table. So I would say food was great, service was good, But management was aweful. Never seen a restaurant accept reservations then have the doors closed.
I am about to be totally honest. We have celebrated our anniversary there for like 30 years and we tried to bundle it up with Mother's Day this year. When I saw Mother's Day brunch I thought well that will be delightful we got wonderful to eating out where we can see the river and when we got there we found out it was Buffet which we didn't know before ... the buffet was to say the least nothing special and we were kind of ignored outside and then we got the bill and it was $40 a plate which was again a shock to us maybe because of our ignorance but it definitely was not worth $40 a plate so very disappointed after so many years of enjoying this awesome place
Booked the Cliff House for Mother's Day. To my surprise, once we arrived, we found out they only had a buffet that day. We were looking forward to the vegan options that were on the menu. All they had available that day was fruit that we could eat at $40 an adult, and $20 a child. We had a party of 7, we had no desire to pay $240 for fruit. We left and had a very difficult time restaurant that was not booked. The buffet option should have been disclosed prior to a booking, not when you arrive...
Not happy with the service nor the food.
Not going back...
