Clark's Oyster Bar
Classic coastal cooking from the Texas Gulf to the Northeastern Seaboard will influence Clark's menu. A large portion of the concept is devoted to the Oyster, Cold Bar, Seafood, & Caviar. We procure the freshest oysters from small harvesters around North America and serve cold seafood platters featuring super fresh daily specials.
We love Clark's and go whenever we get a chance. The food is delicious and the waitstaff is very professional. The restaurant has a quaint neighborhood feel and local vibe. Always high on our list!!!
My wife and I have enjoyed eating at Clark’s. Food has been excellent and the service equally as good. Within a two week period, our last two visits has been challenging at best. Not with the food but with the service. Both visits started off on a bad note with the hostess and carried over with the server. On our last visit, we had a reservation at 7:00pm and arrived at 6:55pm. After checking in with the hostess, we were taken to our table. After sitting down, the hostess said, “we have another reservation at 9:00pm this evening and y’all will have to be finished and leave by that time”. I was immediately taken back by the statement and why the concern since it was two hours in between reservations. Not to discredit Clark’s as a great restaurant but I don’t consider a small neighborhood spot as a restaurant I would consider a dinning experience that would require a two hour window. My first reaction was to get up and leave but after a look from my wife to be nice, I just smiled and asked if it was a problem. I will withhold boring anyone with the other visit and the rude nature of the server. I’m sure I will continue to go to Clark’s in the future but will at least be prepared. Not sure if there is new management or there is a reason for the staff to have a negative attitude but there has been a change.
We just tried Clark's for the first time and it was outstanding! I highly recommend the Red Snapper Ceviche, Clark's Cioppino and Crispy Snapper. Be sure to save room for desert. The Basque Cake is absolutely out of this world. We will definitely go back.
Cute, tiny, neighborhood seafood diner. Good wine options and stellar seafood. Limited menu. The Crab Louie was the best I’ve ever had. Halibut was fresh and perfectly cooked. Can’t wait to go back. Outdoor seating available weather permitting.
Was a great place to eat.
I have visited Clark's many times and I've always had a good experience but today was an exception. I arrived for my reservation 5 min early at 130 and was quickly seated. Waitress was friendly and took our drink order. By 140 I had placed my entire food order which was 3 of every oyster on the menu, the lobster roll and clam chowder. By 2 we were done with our oysters but it wasn't until about 225 that we were told "I'll check on the rest of your food". I had seen countless people who had arrived after us already get their orders and some of them had come, eaten and left all while we were waiting. I requested the check so we could eat and leave and the waitress brought it out. Unfortunately I had to request that the two entree orders just be cancelled and removed from the check so that we could just leave. I'm not sure what the issue was but I do know for sure that I had seen a few lobster rolls come come and go to people who arrived 15 or 20 min after us. I understand that these things happen but it just didn't seem like anyone but me and my guest were aware of the fact that there was an issue with our order. The waitress did apologize but only after I asked her to cancel the orders. It was a very poor experience and a rather pricey visit to leave still hungry.
The food and drinks were outstanding but the service was pretty meh. We were there for a special event and we had to keep asking the waiter to bring us a menu or even take our order. But once the food came it was all delicious. The space is very tight so it's good for an intimate dinner.
Service was VERY slow. Business lunch took over 2 hours. All meals came out at different times. Some food was cold. Brussel weren’t good. Have had much better experiences at Clark’s. They were off their A game
At Clarks we know we will always get the best oysters and a lot of choices.
Service is excellent.
Will always go to Clarks whenever we are in Austin.
They called me 4 times to confirm my reservation then when I arrived after seating me, called again and asked if I was coming..I told them they already seated me and the hostess waved at me and apologized. Then I received an email from Open Table saying they cancelled my reservation. WTF!! Server lead irritated she had to actually wait on us..very rude!! I don’t know what’s going on at this place but it was totally empty at a Sunday brunch and I can see why..will never go back again and don’t recommend it!
Made reservation for our anniversary. That was my first mistake. Ordered the oysters from east coast, and west coast. The ones from Washington, were great. the others were small and very gritty. The Blue point oysters from Pappadeaux's are much better. once we ordered our meal it was a hit and miss with our waitress. Basically a no show for service until the check. My wife had the trout which was very good.
I had the clam and linguini, spoiled clam in the dish was not what I expected. The Busboy was very helpful. All I can say, won't go back, won't recommend, over priced Oysters. If your a drinking social
type, and don't care about the food. this is the place to go.
This was our first time and found it lived up to all the hype we had heard for so many years. We are looking forward to the next one.
Mom’s bday was great! She loves and requested to dine here before our broadway date. Thanks for making it special!
We enjoyed our evening at Clark’s- the food was fantastic as well as the service.
The crudo plate was divine!! My husband loved his lobster roll. The clam chowder was good too! The fries make for a cute Instagram photo but they are too skinny. Hard to eat. The sprouts were too acidic for my taste. The bathroom was problematic and warrants attention.
Tremendous food, service, and ambiance! Our favorite restaurant in ATX! And one of our favorite places for oysters in the US! Simply awesome!!!
The oysters were amazing. The lobster was divine. The service was impeccable. Can’t wait to go back again.
Great fresh fish and cocktails! Get the seafood tower!
Great service, great food.
Great time eating oysters, ciopino, scallops and ceviche!
It was insanely loud, and our server didn't care about what kind of fish was being served, etc. We've had much better service.
We had a great night. The food was outstanding, especially the red fish and halibut, along with the service. The music is too loud and the waiters workstand is directly behind the seating.
Service was great food was very good fries and chowder are the best. Wine by the glass way overpriced for what you get $18.00 per glass
For a wine that in the mid twenties for a bottle.
Fantastic food, flubbed the reservation time with open table and manager found a way to seat us. Food is absolutely wonderful.
My favorite brunch spot in Austin. Cioppino on grits is outstanding. Great oysters, great Bloody Mary's, and excellent atmosphere.
Wait person very knowledgeable and greet fun attitude!! Was a great start to a date !!
Good food and great service. Wish it had a little bit more elbow room, didn’t care to hear the other tables obnoxious conversation. Other than that 2 thumbs up.
Always excellent - never disappointed.
Shantal is a wonderful server, great representative of the restaurant.
Disappointing. We’ve eaten here at least a dozen times. Every time we’ve been greeted like family. It seems like management has changed. The hostess smug and rude. What a way to greet guests. She seemed remarkably annoyed when I asked her a question about sitting at the bar.
The food was good as was our server (fair service but he was nice).
I saw a lot of open tables for a Saturday night. Perhaps others have noticed their decline.
Although this has been a favorite of ours we may not be going back.
The bar service is always slow. Waiter was ok, have had better here. He didn't seem enthusiastic about the menu and seemed bored when we asked questions and couldn't explain the "cocktail of the day" very well. First visit was awesome, 2nd visit was just ok.
Red snapper ceviche was
Divine. Service a little slow. Unfortunately the halibut was dry- a tragedy at $ 35+ Hubby’s crusty snapper was delish
Cute place to go but not if you want to hear your friends talk! Too loud - and we were there for an early lunch! Maybe add some acoustic shells to mitigate? Crazy loud (and they had music on!!) Service was too slow for weekday lunch. Does anyone eat in formal courses anymore? Bring it on, I say! (or at least ask how I'd like it.) Food was excellent, however.
This is our go to place for life celebrations. This particular evening was outstanding. Food was over the top. We had two order of the smoked octopus as it was heavenly. Noise level is always something to contend with but not off putting. Thank y'all for grand evening marking my 60th year circling the sun.
Excellent food but very pricy bottles of wine with few options by the glass. High noise level during happy hour that spills into dinning area and with unnecessarily loud music. Sunday’s better for dinner and bottles half price and quieter.
Clark’s is my go-to place to celebrate the good things in life. Always fresh and perfectly prepared. I even love the aquarium. Best oysters anywhere.
Had a great time and everything was delicious!
