Clark's Oyster Bar
Classic coastal cooking from the Texas Gulf to the Northeastern Seaboard will influence Clark's menu. A large portion of the concept is devoted to the Oyster, Cold Bar, Seafood, & Caviar. We procure the freshest oysters from small harvesters around North America and serve cold seafood platters featuring super fresh daily specials.
Food and service were absolutely great! Matchstick fries. and oysters were delicious. I would have given a higher rating, but there was an obnoxiously loud table near us that almost completely distracted us (and those around us) during our meal. I wish management had asked them to stop talking/yelling so loudly so the rest of us could enjoy our excellent food and wine.
I brought my son and his girlfriend here for his birthday. The food was outstanding but a bit on the pricey side. We will return!
Outstanding food and service every time we have eaten there
Nothing negative to say at all!!
amazing food and service
This was our first visit. We went early and found one of the few front parking spots. The inside is small and more like a bar area with a few tables. More tables were outside.
The happy hour alcohol prices were better priced than their wine (way too high). We both ate the clam chowder soup for a starter - excellent and hot, but too much pepper for our taste. I ate the mussels and clams for my main. Plenty of shellfish, but the tasty sauce did not cover the shellfish which caused the taste to diminish. Again, too much pepper. Service was excellent and my Austin beer was enjoyable. We will be back during happy hour due to value during the earlier dinner hours.
The food was wonderful, but service was rushed...food was cleared and bill was put on the table before the meal was complete, or given the option for dessert or coffee.
Another fantastic meal at Clark’s. The meal and cocktails are somehow always even better than the delicious memories that inspire us to make a new reservation. Service is always wonderful. We were so grateful to the hostess for accommodating us when we were running late due to family having some car troubles. Highly recommend for anyone looking to plan a special evening.
Prompt and friendly greeting, immediately seated for our reservation. Server was knowledgeable about menu items, but seemed to lack awareness of the occasion why we were there. Caviar service was impeccable - the accompaniments were gorgeously presented. It wasn't until after we were finished with the caviar did our server ask if we "wanted to order more food" which seemed to be a really odd question / interaction for us. We ordered salad, entrees and sides, and a bottle of wine, which was mistaken for a glass, and then promptly replaced with a whole bottle.
The celery and endive salad was really crisp and varied with sweetness of pear. The whole branzino was exceptionally prepared with delicious sauces, and we enjoyed the fries and cauliflower side dishes.
For dessert, we definitely enjoyed their dessert cocktails - desserts were generous and a great finish to the meal. In all, the only detraction was the service; it would have been nice to have someone a bit more attentive or engaging.
The food was amazing!!! The octopus is one of the best I’ve ever had. One of my top three meals EVER!!!!!
Great selection of East and West Coast oysters. Clam Chowder always great!!
Trip to Austin
Awesome little spot; incredible food and impeccable service! Get the lobster roll- it beats all of Boston's!!!
Absolutely delicious! Casual dining environment with fabulous food. Will definitely return!
Quaint, small dining room. Excellent food and service.
The server Ashley was super sweet and helped answer all of our questions. My family loved the catch of the day. Oysters were outstanding. Mussels/Clam dish could have used some more seasoning to make the broth more enjoyable, but overall fresh and yummy.
Everything was outstanding, especially the shrimp toast.
Food was great as normal, except the crab was not precut and no extraction utensils were given. But the service was awful. Things like water glasses staying empty during the meal, no one checking on how the food was, when the food was set on the table they didn’t ask if everything looks good/alright or need anything else. It’s a very small place and we are spending good money so we would expect better attention to be paid to our table.
Service was especially fabulous—thanks to Joe. Hope I have his name right!
Waitress was brutal.
It was my husband’s birthday. We go to Clark’s for every special occasion because it never disappoints!
The food was as good or better than ever. Enjoyed some excellent oysters from Prince Edwards Island and Massachusetts. The grilled octopus was slightly overcooked but the taste was still very good. The service was under par for this type of restaurant. Very arrogant staff. They need a reality check.
Had an excellent meal a little expensive but well worth it.
Wonderful outdoor seating and fantastic food! The service was not great on this day but normally good
Easily the freshest, best seafood in the city. Exemplary service.
Love this place. Excellent food--fresh and healthy options--and great wine. If I lived in Austin I would come here all the time.
I have the bronzino fish a perfectly cooked fish with all the bones in it. The was challenging to eat and enjoy as good as the fished was I had to stop have way thru the dinner because of the shear number of bones. Please debone this fish for you clientele.
Always a great time.
Great restaurant. We sat next to the fish tank. One of the snails was a sneaky mover, covering large areas of the tank. A bit of a tight squeeze at times because of the layout of the restaurant. Noise was actually a little lower than moderate, so it was a good place to have a conversation. We had oysters (fresh, with good sauces), the grouper, the lobster roll, and the red snapper ceviche. The cocktails were nice, as well.
One of Austin’s best
Great location on 6th St
Everything was fabulous, especially the service. The only down side was I had to go with my third choice for fish as they were out of the first two. Enjoyed our dining experience.
Great. As usual
I love everything about Clark’s Oyster Bar. The oysters are always perfect, the cioppino is hard to not order every single time. The lobster roll is terrific, cucumber gazpacho with clams, a delight. The desserts are all great. My friend loved the Basque Almond cake with cherries. Good wine list. And don’t even get me started on That Bread. Served with excellent butter, salt for sprinkling as well as breakfast radishes. I’ve been sent to Clark’s to beg for a loaf to take home. I succeeded only once.
Fantastic! Thank you!
When you spend $100+ at happy hour you'd expect there not to be flies all around your face and food, it takes away from enjoying the company you're with. That being said, the food and drinks are amazing. Lobster roll, burger, oysters are great and the martinis are perfect for an afternoon libation. Just wish we didn't have to "shoo fly, don't bother me" the whole time!
My bestie and I ate there and had a good time. I do think it’s overpriced, but it IS good. The toasted bread with the cioppino was very delicious. We had a marvelous waiter named ...maybe Jordan. Really smart and knowledgeable. I’ll go back, but truth be told it’s rather crowded and noisy.
As ALWAYS, wonderful service, the best cioppino in the universe, in the cutest place in town.
Great food! It's amazing what they do in such a small place. Kudos to the amazing bartender from Long Island who graciously hosted us for game 6 of the American League Championship Series. We were the loud Astros fans. She was not only nice to put up with us but offered us a free drink on the house while we watched the very last inning of the game!
This was definitely an interesting place to eat. The food was good although the noise level was higher than expected. But that is realistically because of the size of the venue.
We love Clark's and go whenever we get a chance. The food is delicious and the waitstaff is very professional. The restaurant has a quaint neighborhood feel and local vibe. Always high on our list!!!
